Have you ever noticed how a team’s uniforms seem to look great when they’re winning a lot? To me it felt like Packers uniforms didn’t look good when I watching was watching games in the 70s & 80s but they looked sharp since 1996. 😀

@@cyounger5716 Poor Randy, voted worst starting QB in Packers history. 😂 Yes, I agree that everything looked shabby with Randy Wright. To his credit, he made his life in Wisconsin, runs a business & a football camp there. He was a 6th round pick without elite skills who had to learn the NFL version of the position without a true training program. Mike McCarthy put Aaron Rodgers in what he called his “ quarterback college.” Hope the Falcons do the same for Penix. Truth be told most QBs, especially those drafted in late rounds, don’t get a true developmental plan/program & have to figure it out for themselves.

Don Hutson is a great pick for the Greatest Packer. He was so far ahead of the rest of the league that it is still mind-boggling. It speaks well of Antonio Freeman to give him proper respect like he does here. Leaving Forrest Gregg off this list is indefensible, however. Gregg made the NFL's 100th Anniversary team, meaning he was rated as one of the four greatest tackles in the history of professional football. No disrespect to Bart Starr, but he probably wouldn't make most lists of top 20 quarterbacks. It was wise to include Kramer, but foolish to omit Gregg.
@cristiandelvillar3121
@cristiandelvillar3121 Жыл бұрын
Respectfully, I think saying Bart Starr isn’t top 20 is crazy. Having said that, agree with everything you said. Im glad you didn’t decide to shit on Don Hutson, instead you praised him justly. And yeah, holy shit leaving off Forrest Gregg was fucking criminal. He might be the greatest pure football player in terms of ability at a position that the Packers have ever had.

@tempest20000
@tempest20000 3 жыл бұрын
I will definitely defend Lofton on this list. He is one of the greatest WRs ever. So tall and agile. He even thinks of himself as a Packer. He’s never listed as a Bills great. The problem with Lofton is that in the early 80s, the offense was excellent. Lynn Dickey was a great QB and the 3rd man to ever throw for more than 4000 yards. John Jefferson was also there and the TE Paul Coffman was a Pro Bowler for several years. They had a O line was very strong and they had one of the best offenses in the NFL. Problem was their defense was arguably the worst in the NFL. Several years of 8-8 kept him from really being a nationally known player. But his stats from the time really show just how great he is.

Harry Engel i get your position on this, but that would preclude any Lions player from being on the lists that didn’t involve dumpster fires since 1957. Also pre 1970s Steelers, any Cardinals since the Bidwills were awarded the franchise after the Pottsville Maroons we’re booted from the league in 1925 until Kurt Warner. You’re absolutely right about the post Lombardi Packers = garbage, I’m just adding my thought to your point, no offense intended.

Do Du Absolutely right my friend, but you have to consider he put up those numbers in Green Bay when half of his time he had David Whitehurst a guy named Dennis Sproul, and a well passed his prime Bobby Douglass who when he played for the Bears ran the ball more than he threw it. Which at least for me makes those numbers pop. Jim Kelly vs three guys that were forgotten the moment they took the uniform off. I have no issue with someone who remembers him in Buffalo more than Green Bay. If you would ask ten people “when you think of Shaq what uniform is he wearing” 8 of them will say the Lakers and not the Magic.These lists are so subjective that there are really no wrong answers.

Harry Engel Someone is going to have to explain how a player with so many FATAL interceptions (SB XXXII, 2002 playoff against the Rams, 1999 playoff against the 49ers, 2004 playoff against the Eagles, 1995 NFC championship against Dallas, 2007 NFC championship against the Giants...and these are just playoff losses and just as a Packer) is even on this list. The guy has twice as many playoff losses directly attributable to him as Bart Starr has postseason interceptions. When his team needed him to win a championship, only one time he didn't let them down. But Jerry Kramer came through--under pretty brutal conditions and tremendous pressure--every time he had to. As a die hard Green Bay Packer fan, I'm offended that they put Brett Favre ahead of Bart Starr on this list. Brett Favre threw way too many interceptions in some very big playoff games that Bart Starr wouldn't have thrown. Bart Starr is the quintessential Green Bay Packer Quarterback the same way Ken Stabler is the quintessential Oakland Raider Quarterback, case closed. Bart Starr was 9-1 in the Postseason. No other quarterback in the history on the NFL, including the greatest quarterback in NFL history, Joe Montana, had that winning percentage in the Postseason.

Well he did win a SB with the Packers. Plus they made such a big deal about him signing with GB during the first free agency, people remember that too. And I believe he went into the HOF as a Packer. Those three things are probably why he is remembered as a Packer.

I always respected what Green Bay Packers it all about cause i think that Aaron Rodgers Donald Driver and Antonio Freeman should be recognized as the heart and soul to the Packers franchise history cause they all won super bowl championships honestly Donald Driver should be in the Hall Of Fame too

I have a hard time putting a WR at #1. He should be on the list, but I don't know about #1. Sterling Sharpe should be there, as well as Aaron Rodgers. My personal #1 would be Starr or Favre, they each accomplished so much in different ways. I grew up a Bronco fan, but I watched a lot of Packer games, because of where I live.

When it comes to Rodgers keep in Mind this aired right after the 2010 season concluded. So Rodgers only had started for three years at that point. He’d be on an updated list

Damon Amendollara is usually one of the better talking heads but he clearly knows nothing about Don Hutson and should just keep his mouth shut on this. Don Hutson would be a star today things he’d did and the numbers he achieved stood as records for 40 years. Perfect #1.

Hutson was asked in his later years, with the rules that the NFL has favoring the passing game now, how many catches he would have in a year. Hutson responded, "Probably fifty." The interviewer said, "Really, only fifty?" Hutson, "Well, I AM 70 years old."

A lot of those Cowboys credit Herb Adderly with putting them over the hump with his "Get it done" attitude. I love Nitschke and I am a life long Packer fan. And I'd take Dick Butkus over Nitschke. Nitschke was indeed a hell of a player. Butkus was better. I got a pitch for Bart Starr. Starr was a better QB than Unitas. Keith Dunnavant, backed up by stats from Kerry Byrne, makes a VERY strong case for Starr. Oh, Starr played with great talent and coaching. So did Unitas. In 1962 the Packes had what was probably the best rushing team in NLF history. By 1966 they were last in the league in rushing. Starr wins his only MVP and leads the league with a completion percentage of 62.2 and a 105 passer rating Darren, you are showing your ignorance with the comment about Don Hutson. Hutson was the Babe Ruth of football. A guy whose production matched that of other teams. 99 TDs, broken after 44 years.... think of the changes that occurred between the careers of Hutson and Largent.

I don't see how Starr is not #1. People dog his numbers because they compare him on yards and TDs to either outlier single seasons in the AFL or to modern numbers. But if you look at his QB rating, his completion percentage, his average yards per attempt, and his interception rates, he is in the top 3 in all of those categories during the 1960s. Add in FIVE NFL titles and some insane playoff stats, and I just don't think there's any comparison. He set the standard for quarterbacking, title-winning, and leadership in Green Bay that will live for eternity.

Where does Aaron Rodgers go on this list if his Packers career is over now? Most likely 4 MVPs and a 1 championship. I think he's in the best Packers player of all time to me but I didn't watch Lombardi Packers. How about Davante Adams? Does he get in?
