In today’s video, we take a look at top 10 Indian AI startups building innovative solutions for the world.
00:00 Introduction
00:53 #10 Staqu Technologies
02:04 #9 TartanSense
03:23 #8 Signzy
04:32 #7 Mad Street Den
05:53 #6 Safe Security
07:13 #5 Yellow.ai
08:18 #4 Niramai
09:38 #3 Emotix
10:31 #2 FarEye
11:47 #1 GreyOrange
#10 Staqu Technologies: Founded by Anurag Saini, Atul Rai, Chetan Rexwal and Pankaj Kumar Sharma in 2015, Staqu Technologies is using their AI-powered flagship product called JARVIS (Joint AI Research For Video Instances and Streams) to monitor and identify criminals through CCTV cameras.
#9 TartanSense: Founded by Jaisimha Rao in 2015, TartanSense is an agritech startup that’s building AI-powered robots. Their flagship product is their precision spraying robot for farmers called BrijBot. While running through their farms autonomously, BrijBot uses cameras to capture images of the crops and accesses each of them individually using computer vision to see if they need to be sprayed with pesticides.
#8 Signzy: Founded by Ankit Ratan, Ankur Pandey and Arpit Ratan in 2015, Signzy is helping banks and financial institutions to offer a smooth and secure digital onboarding for their customers. One of the ways they do this is through their video KYC - which enables users to simply upload their documents and images and Signzy’s APIs do the work of extracting information from those documents and then verifying them against the government databases to make sure that all the information is authentic.
#7 Mad Street Den: Founded by husband-wife duo Anand Chandrasekaran (a neuroscientist) and Ashwini Asokan (product designer), along with Costa Colbert in 2013, Mad Street Den is an experience management startup. Their flagship product Vue.ai monitors a customer’s behaviour on a website to recommend the products they might like. Then in 2021, they launched Blox.ai - which is their enterprise product that helps companies to maintain data and automate processes like image moderation and lead generation.
#6 Safe Security: Founded by Rahul Tyagi, Saket Modi and Vidit Baxi in 2012, Safe Security started its journey as Lucideus in IIT Bombay to help businesses predict cyberattacks and provide them actionable insights to protect themselves before it happens. They are doing this through their SAFE (Security Assessment Framework for Enterprises) Platform - which analyses every aspect of an organisation - their people, technology and policies to assign them a Safe Score.
#5 Yellow.ai: Founded by Anik Das, Jaya Kishore Reddy, Raghu Ravinutala and Rashid Khan in 2016, Yellow.ai (formerly known as Yellow Messenger) helps businesses automate their customer experience by offering chatbots and voicebots.
#4 Niramai: Founded by Geetha Manjunath along with Nidhi Mathur in 2016, Niramai offers a revolutionary non-invasive, non-touch and radiation-free thermal screening device that uses their proprietary AI technology to detect early-stage breast cancer. Once, their device takes a thermal image of a woman’s breast - this image is analysed by their AI-powered diagnostic engine called Thermalytix which detects any abnormalities early on.
#3 Emotix: Founded by Chintan Raikar, Prashant Iyengar and Sneh Vaswani in 2014, Emotix launched their first personal robot called Miko in 2017 and their latest Miko 2 was launched in 2019. They have built a personal robot for kids which is capable of understanding the child’s mood, behaviour and interests to engage them in educational conversations while creating a personal bond - as it can remember the child’s face, name and voice.
#2 FarEye: Founded by Gaurav Srivastava, Gautam Kumar, Kushal Nahata in 2013, FarEye has built a portfolio of SaaS-based products that are helping e-commerce and logistics companies to manage their supply chain and logistics from a single platform. They are helping companies make crucial real-time decisions like how many drivers are in an area, identify the best option, provide the drivers with the most time-efficient route and also optimise the deliveries by bundling multiple orders from one area.
#1 GreyOrange: Founded by Akash Gupta and Samay Kohli in Gurugram in 2011, GreyOrange’s robots are making warehouses more efficient and less labour intensive. But at the center of their robots is their AI-enabled brain called GreyMatter which helps them connect and communicate with each other at all times. While it helps in automating tasks, it also enables them to collaborate and use their combined knowledge to make smart decisions much like FarEye but instead of drivers it helps warehouse robots.

*As an Indian myself, I see that most of start up, the ones got unicorn-ed recently, depends on volume than actual innovation. We have a large population and they seem to depend on that. Thats why when I see tartan sense like start up, that actually feels nice, even though I know that investors wont come rushing on this one, as its harder to scale up.*

Hey Caleb, when an Indian company headquarters moves abroad, does India still get any benefit from that company?
@asakurayoh3909
@asakurayoh3909 2 жыл бұрын
Nope. They pay taxes there and employ people there. If they have there headquarters there it will be considered as an American company.
@backstagewithmillionaires
@backstagewithmillionaires 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Groot, this isn't technically true, the Supreme Court of India holds that a company's nationality is determined primarily by its place of incorporation, and is not affected by the company's "central management and control" being located outside India. So while the business may not be immediately relevant to India's startup ecosystem and as you said, pays taxes outside of India, it is still considered to be an Indian company. -Caleb
@backstagewithmillionaires
@backstagewithmillionaires 2 жыл бұрын
Good question Bob. If they're still doing business in India despite being headquartered outside of India, then certainly India will be benefited. Other times, a startup will be _registered_ outside of India but will be doing all of their business within India - Flipkart was a good example, they were registered in Singapore to take advantage of favorable tax laws and incentives, but all of their employees, offices, warehouses, etc. was happening in India. Ultimately though, these companies decide how "Indian" they want to be. Employees, offices, customers, and even taxes, are all variables that a startup can increase or decrease based on their preferences and goals. -Caleb

You can also become a BwM member, which is KZfaq's own member support system. But we don't ask or expect people to do that, as we're doing okay financially and don't want people to feel obligated to send money our way. @backstagewithmillionaires
@backstagewithmillionaires 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Raskin, we don’t have any immediate plans to make such a video, but I’ll keep the idea in my mind 🙂 here’s a brief explanation: 1. Indian startups often move their headquarters outside of India to be closer to their customer base, e.g. if it’s an Indian SaaS startup that is primarily serving American companies, they will probably shift their headquarters to the United States. Indian startups also shift their official registered address outside of India, to Singapore, or Delaware, or some other business-friendly state/country in order to take advantage of favourable tax breaks/incentives. Sometimes they are also headquartered in these places, but usually it’s just the country of registration, and the HQ is somewhere else. 2. Indian startups IPO outside of India if they think they can raise more money and be more successful as a public company outside of India. The American stock market is very big, and it attracts investors from all around the world. The Indian stock market, on the other hand, isn’t as popular, as it is mainly invested in by Indian investors, limiting the amount of capital available. That being said though, an Indian company can only really have a successful IPO outside of India if they’re known outside of India. A homegrown, local startup focusing exclusively on the Indian market probably won’t have a successful IPO outside of the Indian stock market, so they tend to go public within India. -Caleb
