Mr. King Kong: "MR MOJO RISING" .... A phrase repeated over & over in the song LA WOMAN by the DOORS, and written by Jim Morrison. Is an anagram of Jim Morrison's name [[try it, all the letters are represented here] [created by Jim Morrison himself]]] and yet this isn't offensive either.

Nevaeh Cassidy I know! Tiger Lily is so beautiful & a Princess. Peter likes her & Wendy is jealous of her! That's hardly a negative light being shed. I think they are confusing stereotypes with racism! Jim Crow is by far the most cringe worthy to me. That was a hideous & unfair law. Obviously anything slavery referenced is racist. Racism is defined as one race thinking they are superior to another... I don't see that in Peter Pan.

I find that most people that complain about The Aristocats have never actually seen it. Nearly every character in the film is a stereotype, from the hillbilly dogs to the Siamese cat. The black cat trumpet player, the hippie beatnick cat, even the main two characters. Duchess is rich and spoiled whereas O'Malley is a homeless alley cat. The whole movie is about culture clashes. But of course, people don't pay attention to things like plot or themes anymore.

Caricature or stereotype maybe, but I would hate for those characters to be changed or erased. I get a kick out of them. And you know what, it really does remind me of some of my relatives. So hey, unless you want to end up in a dull grey, monotone world, where people are afraid to jive talk, or have an accent, or you know, BE different, how about we all cool it with the recreational outrage and enjoy our differences. The Dumbo ones (the faceless workers and the crows) the faceless workers were to pay respect to all workers regardless of ethnic background who kept society functioning from behind the scenes and the crows were voiced by black Jazz musicians and Walt Disney payed out of pocket for them to be recorded at a recording studio down the street from the movie studio (because it was against the rules of Hollywood at the time for black people to enter a studio producing animated movies) to poke fun at the Jim Crow laws of the time, hence the use of crows and the leader's name being Jim Crow. The Song of the South does point out in the movie that the US Civil War had happened years ago and according to the line used would indicate that the movie is set at the earliest in 1868 with Uncle Remus being the owner of the plot of land he's working according to something he says towards the beginning of the film, the cautionary tales were published in a book titled Tales from the Briar Patch (briars are thorny bushes that have seed pods that tend to stick to clothes until physicly removed by the person).

That is incredible! And I kept thinking along the same lines, How would the woke SJW’s expect to see different ethnicity’s represented? If you only have one color (well white I guess , because there’s unbelievably seemingly quite a lot of ppl that actually don’t know the definition of RACISM & believe what they’ve been fed by culture & or the Hollywood Left extremists, that ONLY ppl lacking in melanin can & are born ‘’racists’’!) with no one allowed to use free speech & call it what it is, it has to actually be called Anti white racism, which is just breeding hatred so much more, that I have to ask who’s actually behind it all? It seems to backwards to be regular citizens. So if you bring up different ethnicity’s NOT negatively just in addition to a story, you’re branded forever a hateful evil racist, that’s ‘’INSANELY RACIST’’ 😳🤯😆including evidently your children & grandchildren that will be asked to pay 💰 reparations, for something they clearly didn’t understand in the first place!? But if you make an all white cast you’re branded (depending who exactly you are) usually with a similar brand. Frustrating because people never give ANY BENEFIT of the DOUBT. Also if you’re a hammer 🔨 all you see is nails. And to build bridges 🌁 we have to agree there’s a river in the first place. I’m still boycotting Showtime after having them for YEARS, for the ACTUALLY INSANELY RACIST backwards foul ball & hard push promotion of ‘’It’ll be ALL WHITE’’ This is literally opposite of what Dr. King so passionately reminded all of us about, including ones that weren’t born yet. The erasing of our history to fit into someone’s agenda is a quick arrival at degraded societies such as , totalitarian, Marxist, communism , that have been proven for thousands of years definitively don’t work either . Next stop will be all of us surviving in a version of Orwells book 1984. Yeah watch mojo really likes to stoke up embers of hate for views, w/o any thoughts of is this ‘’right’’ or ethical or even correct? I keep losing more & more respect for the people behind it. But evidently 💰💷💸 will sadly make a majority of people think, do & say things that aren’t congruent with their own beliefs or maybe it’s part of their religious or political beliefs agenda.

You do realize Siam was conquered by the Japanese and basically puppeted by them during the Second World War resulting in a japanese-ification of much of Thai society at that time. Both japanese cultures and customs along with fascism were forced on the Thai people. While I do believe maybe watch mojo got this wrong by not explaining the obvious origins of Siam, I don’t think explaining the Japanese connection was wrong here either. “the Japanese Empire pressured the Thai government to allow the passage of Japanese troops to invade British-held Malaya and Burma. After the invasion, Thailand capitulated. The Thai government under Plaek Phibunsongkhram (known simply as Phibun) considered it profitable to co-operate with the Japanese war efforts, since Thailand saw Japan - who promised to help Thailand regain some of the Indochinese territories (in today's Laos, Cambodia, and Vietnam) which had been lost to France - as an ally against Western imperialism. Following added pressure from the start of the Allied bombings of Bangkok due to the Japanese occupation, Axis-aligned Thailand declared war on the United Kingdom and the United States and annexed territories in neighbouring countries, expanding to the north, south, and east, gaining a border with China near Kengtung.”

Song of the South was one of my favorite disney movies as a kid. As an Italian 8 years old I didn't know the details of racial issues in the US, but my father explained to me a bit of context (what he knew), he told me about slavery, he told me that the black man was not treated well. I loved the character of Uncle Remus (Uncle Tom in Italian for some reason), for his wisdom, his kindness, his generosity; I felt like he could have been my Granddad. For me he was really a Christlike figure, while the white adult characters in the movie are certainly marginal, I actually cannot recall any off the top of my head. Keep in mind that Italy at the time didn't really have much immigration, and most of the immigrants were white anyway, and integrated into Italian society quite smoothly (Romanians and Albanians). All in all I think this movie made me grow up with a strong appreciation of African-American culture of that period, an interest in Black people's struggle that is kind of unusual for an Italian kid born in the 90s. I also started to binge on Negro Spirituals which I listen to even to this day. Regarding Italians, even today in American media I see us depicted as amourous, friendly, loud or wathever. Do I find it kind of lazy in 2022? Yes, but that also depends on the manner. Do I find it offensive? Not at all.

It's so dumb. I was watching a scene from Disney's The Jungle Book, mind you this is from way back in the 60s, and Disney got it correct with how they physically portrayed Mowgli. Of course, all the comments were turned off because the last 2 generations of Americans want to find some sort of fault in the previous generation's contribution to culture. Meanwhile, these same generations are incapable of coming up with any genuinely original stories or characters and constantly go back to the well created by the supposed bigots of America's past? When I was a kid growing up in the 70s, my granmother used to read Hiawatha to me, and yes. . . even as a white kid in S.Texas, I wanted to be an Indian. So they aren't stereotypes because children don't understand the world in which they are and will grow up in? Doesn't have to be offending to be racist. I can also see the advantages I have in person vs, let's say, applying for a job and people only see my Arab name. Racism is a system in which communities and individuals live. Those moments in animated movies and other cultural products are just a reflection of it (and the time when they were made). Like I said, none of what's in this vid upset or triggered me, but objectively they are racist, cliche or insulting in a way. It's not a matter of time, it's a matter of education and awareness. The lack of education and awareness will always be a problem because kids aren't born with all of that. Micky W How is Siam destroyed??? The governmet literally just changed the country’s name to make it easier to switch side from the axis to the allies so they wouldnt have to pay the war indemnity. Exept the name nothing else was changed. Same monarchy, same government, same capital, same currency and even the territory is the same by the time they changed their name. The word “destroyed” seems awfully unfit because even nowadays plenty of Thais still refer themselves as Siam. Ever heard of “Siam paragon” “Siam square” “Iconsiam” ????? The word Siam isnt 100% destroyed. There are hundreds of thousand of Thai company’s name having siam in their names... Even SCG(the largest and oldest government-run cement company in Thailand) is the abbreviation of Siam cement company. The Thais do love to refer themselves as “Chao Siam” which means people of Siam. Just because its no longer the official name of the country doesnt mean its destroyed lol.

I’m glad Disney now warns viewers of stereotypes in its movies! Three particularly disturbing scenes included the crows in “Dumbo”, whose leader’s name is a direct reference to segregation in the southern United States, the Native Americans in “Peter Pan” who are portrayed in a way that reflects neither their diversity nor their authentic cultural traditions, and last of all, one of the cats in “The Aristocats”, who is a racist caricature of Asian people and plays the piano with chopsticks.
