On "Who Am I" Jackie said he had no rope attached to him, only boxes in the end of the slide, in case if he falls down. So, no rigging. That's why he was extremely scared doing this one.

I'm really surprised you didn't mention the stunt in Jackie Chan's First Strike where he is sliding down a snow-covered mountain and has to make a jump into a helicopter that is rising over the edge of the cliff he is heading towards. The helicopter pilot had to pull up hard at the last minute to keep Jackie from flying into the blades of the chopper and killing him.

FINALLY! One of these videos where the person making the list is fully knowledgeable of the entries! Solid stuff man! Didn't even know Jackie released another Autobiography - I just new about the one from 1999. On a side note, the fan thing you show at 2:56 was supposedly over 120 takes. Jackie used it as the example that a lot of his greatness is his patience to do something as many times as it takes to finally get it to work. His direct quote was "People be like 'Jackie you so great' - It's not great! Anyone can do it - the question is, do you have the patience to do it?" (from My Stunts - excellent documentary)

@@Vytaswashere just wanna clarify what’s it was that I heard or read, and not saying it’s absolute truth (but not going to doubt it myself. Believe what you will). He did multiple takes, at least 2, in at least one of those no harness was used, I heard a net was used instead. Either way with or without a harness with or without a net, if it was me the window washers would not have been happy, as they would’ve had to spend weeks cleaning a brown streak. But on the bright side they could’ve had free stained glass.

Actually stunt 7, why Jackie cut his face, is because he chose the wrong window/glass to jump through. They made one of sugarglass, but during the shot Jackie forgot which was the fake one and jumped through the real glass window. Stunt number 1, the clock tower. Jackie Stunt team member Mars did the faceplant stunt according to Accented Cinema. Jackie did the first take, the one where Yuen Biao runs to him and you see Jackie's face, but he was so messed up that Mars did the second take. But was used first in the movie.

According to his biography "I am Jackie Chan...," this was the closest Jackie said he came to actual death. After the accidental fall, he was bleeding from the ear as can be seen in the video with a piece of his skull lodged in his brain. As luck would have it, the only brain surgeon in all of Yugoslavia was living close nearby, who operated on Jackie in time to save Jackie and prevent irreversible brain damage; and also put in a metal skull plate. Afterwards, Jackie did the same stunt again, successfully shown in the film, just to restore his confidence, afterall it was for him just a simple stunt. As for the brain surgeon, I am sure Jackie contibuted generously for Medical Aid for Yugoslavia during its horrific split & resulting Civil War.

Also Tong used a harness and cable for his jump and by jumping first was able to tape off where Jackie had to jump from because there was no clear line of sight to the balcony. Jackie did the jump Without the harness because he felt it was less dangerous because of power lines in the area and he made it on the first try.....this account was confirmed by on scene cast, crew, and bystanders.

the jump from the parkdeck in "Rumble in the Bronx" was also done by director stanley tong itself beforehand. He's the kind of director doing himself, what he asks others for. He first started out with a rigged harness, but saw, it would be safer without (ability to move, wheight etc). He did it first, Jackie followed, completing the jump with his first attempt, both getting captured by multiple cameras. The way it was cut is quite unusual. Because, you don't see Jackie during the whole stunt. The take in the ending, when he lands and you clearly see his face doesn't quite connect to the jump before and also the jump off the car over the fence doesn't really. I'm sure, Jackie did that jump, but knowing these few informations, it is rumored, that the takes we see in the final movie is stanley tong in mid-air, because of editing and cinematical reasons. But building up all the "he does all of his own stunts"-image of him makes it hard to check, if there is something true in that story. the parts fit. And it wouldn't make the work and achievements any worse or smaller. Doing the most of your stunts, coming up with that personal style in coreography everybody wants to see, standing out in the middle of all those trash-moviefights... that is the real achievement. And by far the fact, the he did it twice: once in Honkong and the later in Hollywood again.

I always get the impression they are overlooked and maybe not looked after properly, never mind not getting the recognition they deserve. If you’re referring to the pool slide in police story, I’m pretty sure it’s just one take with two different camera angles. It’s easy to tell when it’s more than one take because of how he’s jumping on each one. The building slide was definitely done in two takes because of how we jump down the slide. Police story I’m pretty sure it was just one take. The clock tower fall he did three times.

the problem with an academy-award for stunts is, that people my be attempted to overdue themself. And that would mean, it gets more and more dangerous. BTW seeing, how far the academy has come (down), it isn't by far the institution that is worth to compete for. I mean, look at the last years winners. It is only woth the money and the prestige of haveing such an award. Yes, but I feel, it doesn't mean anything anymore (in terms of cinematic or dramatic quality).

Jackie did it in the actual filming... ( As per Stanley himself & Jackie in separate interviews) Stanley did it first to set both the outside camera angles (i believe he said there were 3 plus the one inside the balcony. I ll have to go back & check if i can find it again) ... and especially the camera distance at the landing point inside the balcony...They didnt want Jackie to crash into the camera when he landed...and Stanley said he didnt want to retake Jackies shot.

Come on, now, you're a stuntman, you should be able to spot tricky editing. I love Jackie's movies from the 80s through the early 90s but this wasn't all him! Stanley Tong did that crazy jump from roof to balcony in Rumble In The Bronx & I suspect he or another double did the jump off the building onto the ladder hanging from the helicopter in Police Story 3, look at the editing to see why I think so.

Even after Jackie himself said in interviews that he did all those?

Jackie actually did jump from building to building if you look behind the scenes.

@@user-qu8xx4em6s he didn’t do that jump between the buildings it’s in his autobiography he could easily do the jump but he couldn’t do the landings at that time with the impact because his ankles where shot so stanley did it instead.

Not true. Stanley made the jump in the setup for camera placement...specifically the landing camera which he hit on the practice jump because it was too close to the balcony entrance & had to have it repositioned for Jackies jump during actual filming.
