Half of this video is about tropical fruits. I am from Malaysia and grew up having a backyard and orchard full of majority of these fruits you’ve listed. Your list made me realised how truly blessed I am to grow up in such a rich taste environment my parents made. Imagine some people probably never have tasted, not a single fruit you’ve listed. I remember as a kid I would climbed a rambutan tree, ate some fruits and then climbed a water apple tree, ate some fruits, then next onto a guava tree, ate some fruits, and last climbed a mangosteen tree, ate some fruits and stayed there for a while on the long thin branches and did my homework while enjoying the breeze and the view of the paddy fields as far as my eyes could see. I would climbed back down after my stomach was content and I had finished my homework. And that was my little late afternoon snack rendezvous - always fresh, healthy and free.

That sounds like heaven, I’m very jealous. I’ve never had any of these fruits unfortunately. Where I live they are just impossible to get. I did get to try a mangosteen once in my life though and it was the best tasting fruit I’ve ever had.

I grew up with loads of grapes, a huge pear tree, many plum trees, apples, oranges, grapefruits, pomegranate and walnuts so I can also relate to being able to chill outside and just eat fruit all day lol. But it would have been cool to try those exotic fruits, I've never eaten a single one or really even seen any. The most exotic we can find in the supemarkets here is a lychee.

Me and my family goes to Phuket, Thailand every year, and I remember the first time I tried rambutan. We bought a bag for about 200 baht, and then we went back to the hotel room and ate the whole bag (around 500 grams) in 15 minutes. There was also rose Apples nearby a rubber tree plantage, and the guide just picked the good ones for us right off the tree.

I was a bit confused with the Strawberry Tree fruit that you presented as most associate this common name with Arbutus unedo, also known as the Irish Strawberry Tree, the fruits of which are also edible, mildly narcotic though quite different in look and presumably taste/texture. It really helps to include the Botanical names as you’ve no doubt discovered. Full marks for dedication and passion. Fruit is awesome!

Pawpaws and Gopher Apples here in south central FL., growing wild. Pawpaws are prolific and grow in the cow pastures as it's distasteful to the cows. Hard to get a taste of one, the critters know right when to get it before you do. They taste like banana mangoes. They're sometimes called Indian Mangoes. The Gopher Apple grows low to the ground, is white and shaped like a small egg. Gopher Tortoises love it, it tastes like Juicy Fruit gum. Very little flesh and large seed.

My favourite fruit I had in china is probably Yáng méi (Myrica rubra) it's just so delicious juicy sweet and sour. Other than that blueberries jackfruit and cherries are very high up there.

You should do a series about wild berries in the Pacific northwest imo huckleberries, thimble berries and salal berries can be just as delicious as some of the fruits in your top ten.

I'd like to! I have salals and red huckleberry episodes in the backlog, should be coming up in 2019. REally would like to get back out that way and find more though

vikas mali Apple seeds wont produce the type of Apple they come from. The only way is to graft the branches of the Apple you want onto a tree.

You are in a fruit lock state of mind. You are think fruit, as in sweet, there are fruits that are good, but are not sweet. Avocado are common, but damn, they are so good. The same is true for tomatos. I mean, you have to cook them, but imagine world without pizza? What about chillis. I love hot foods. The world without hot sauce, shoot me. What about squash, not my favorite, but still good. You should do a video on non sweet fruits that are good.

@WeirdExplorer
@WeirdExplorer 5 жыл бұрын
I had a Chinese girlfriend that pronounced it as "Lee chee". I believe that's the Mandarin pronunciation. In Cantonese I think it is "Lie chee". Neither pronunciation is correct technically since there should be a T and Z sound in there but that is beyond my oral abilities.

We sometimes sell yellow dragon fruit at my work, a philipino market in California. We never get more than 15lb at a time though and we only have it sometimes. I'm not sure if it's a season or not, but we sold it for maybe 1 or 2 months out of the 8 months I've worked there. Also, we sell it for somewhere around $4 a pound. As reference, bananas are around $0.90 a pound and apples are around $1.50 a pound at my work.

I have eaten your top ten, but my ten would include: passionfruit, kiwi fruit, feijoa, mangoes, raspberries, strawberries, blackberries, blueberries, grapes, lemons - it is hard to stop at ten and leave out tangelos, mandarins, bananas, cherries, pineapples, apples, oranges, and melons. Fruit is really great!

I love Cherimoya and used to get them free from a neighbor who had a huge tree in her back yard. I would describe the taste as a mix of banana, strawberry, lemon and pear in a custard. Timing of perfect ripeness is critical, however; one day too soon and the flesh is too firm and a little sour. One day too late, and it is grainy. Mark Twain described it as "the most delicious fruit known to men". I would agree.

Love the top 10. I'm going to see what I can grow here. Agree with you on the dragon fruit. Got to see if I can get a yellow one. Also love the Atemoyas. Can't wait for mango month. I used to have a Keitt mango tree--huge mangoes, like footballs. Not fibrous, and a lot less sweet than a Hayden. Enjoy the mangoes. Good luck.
