Togepi was always gen 2. I'm an older gamer than most (late 30's), but I remember the mystery around Togepi because of the anime. There were no official Pokedex for gen 1 that listed, and plenty of rumors running around about Fakemon and Yoshi and whatnot. Togepi stood out because it was a tease in the anime, like, "Haha, you can't get me (yet)!"

Yes! I am also pushing 40 years old myself and started with pokemon in the very beginning. I think only the people who did not start off with gen 1 would have been confused with that.

As someone who was 14 years old when pokemon blue and red came out and memorized the pokerap and everything, I always knew it was gen 2, and totally not forgettable. It was like a sneak peek at what gen 2 was going to offer. Gen 2 was pretty much planned during gen one, and was supposed to end with gen 2.

When you've played the first gen games over 40 times (I lost count after that) and the 2nd gen games at least over 20 times it's pretty hard to forget that Togepi is a gen 2 Pokemon.

The most forgotten pokemon are Huntail and Gorebyss. They're so good but underrated, especially white herb shell smash Huntail.

When you mentioned castforms hail form, I immediately remembered that it actually helped me beat Winona, because the combination of hail and weather ball made it an easy win against her Altaria. If it wasn’t for that, I probably would have forgotten it tbh.

In my opinion Cresselia is the most forgotten pokemon. It only showed up once, and that was for a few slides in a pokemon movie where Darkrai appears in and Cresselia attacks Darkrai (I think-). In the games it only ever showed up once or twice, and even then it was so rare and forgotten nobody ever obtained it. ;-;

Yeah same Of course there are some Pokémon I never immediately think of tho. But if someone told me any (German) Pokémon name I'll have a picture of it in my head for example if someone told me to name any fighting type Pokémon I don't think I'd ever answer Croagunk But if someone said "ya know this poison fighting frog pokemon thingy?" I'd immediately think of Croagunk or Toxicroak (And now that I wrote that I think ill actually say Croagunk pretty often if someone tells me to name a fighting type)

I personally can't forget Stantler as Silver was my first game and I have vivid memories of training a few Pokemon on that route it's found on (as well as encountering the three legendaries roamers on that route for the first time, yes all 3 of them, I'm sure I did anyway) as a kid I thought Stantler was such a strong Pokemon too because of the fact that it comes with stomp and hypnosis. Despite that I didn't actually use one, but I did catch two of them, actually I caught two of most Pokemon in that game, I digress.

Totally agree with Lugia's typing. When I was younger, I had it narrowed down to those three while trying to catch it, and still didn't know what types it was until I checked the PC.

I really liked Stantler when it was first introduced -- at that point in the game, your starter's most likely in its middle form, you've just gotten past Whitney and Sudowoodo, and here's this rare encounter that's a pretty beastly pure-Normal with Stomp (very powerful move at the time with a chance of causing a flinch) and confusion-based attacks. Granted, on the very next route you can encounter Tauros and Miltank, both slower but more powerful Normal-types that also have Stomp, so it doesn't stay impressive for long.... I thought it was cute when they brought it back with a Christmas skin in Pokémon GO though.

I used a stantler recently for a soul silver nuzlocke and I taught it hidden power. Turns out it was a ghost type hidden power so it knew hypnosis too so mprty couldn’t even touch me and I was super effective. Blitzen was MVP that fight.

I honestly tried hard to have Carbink on my Kalos team. I was impressed by it's defensive stats but that little thing just didn't have the speed or power to keep up in competition. Same with Minior, it was cute and came in different colours but yeah, same issues.

I always remembered Stantler from his role in Pokémon Super Mystery Dungeon. And Goh catches one in the Oh-Ho episode of Journeys. I agree that it is pretty forgettable, but not for me.

Despite never using one i love Stantler and find it tough to fight if used properly in doubles, if it can get it's enemies to sleep it could allow you to get a sweeper in if you use Hypnosis Follow Me Combo. Idk i like stantler i want it to get a new evolution

I've had the talk about Ho-Oh and Lugia with a few friends before back when HGSS came out. If Lugia was a water type that would make Ho-Ohs signature moves useless and give one games legendary more advantage between friends playing and using different games. So HG might've gotten more hate later because the box art legends were so one sidely matched in a game that's based around rock paper scissor typings. Lugia does learn hydro pump atleast. Which makes sense why most main legend's are dragons after a certain point. This goes out the window when X and Y come about, but Yveltal has really strong flying moves that help balance it out to match against xerneas atleast.
