The Sohma family from Fruits Basket definitely should have been on this list. The 14 characters that deal with the curse each have loads of emotional issues from how the family has treated them. It's a huge family, and distantly related, but they deserve a high spot on this list.

The Shiota family is not messed up. It's just Nagisa's mother. I hated that one scene in which she grabbed his hair and repeatedly pulled and raised his head up. Nagisa can't help the fact that he's a boy. Nobody can choose their gender. Mrs. Shiota shouldn't have, as Koro Sensei put it, forced her complexes on him.

Woah woah woah! The Zoldyck family got number 3?! Sure they may have talked about killing each other a lot but at least when the battle is over, they’re still good to get together for brunch. Also Killua and Alluka were good.

The Joestar family has been messed up down the line ever since Dio entered Jonathan's life. Even if Jonathan had a descendance, Dio's vampiric head took over his body, troubled his descendants, had another son who took over a stand using italian mafia, and his influence continues through a priest who offices in a prison where you can find the latest Joestar descendant, and he also found many other of his offsprings.

It’s a relatively new episode. But from the anime demon slayer, there is a ‘family’ that’s very messed up too. There’s a demon named rui, who had this idea of having a prefect family. Since demons cannibalise each other, this is a hard thing to do. He gets different demons to be apart of his family, for the simple feeling of protection. Rui abuses them all, if they don’t play their ‘roles’ as he gave them.

... Yeah the Ushiromiyas definitely deserved a place on this list. Especially Kinzou, Rudolph, Kyrie and a certain man from 19 years ago. Even the extended in-laws are pretty twisted. I think one of the big things to also highlight is that the anime and visual novel does bring focus onto almost every family member and, well, whilst you understand their actions, you still want to slap them. Surprised to see the Sohma family from Fruits Basket wasn't on there.
