Yeah scifi wise I'd put that and the stargate SG-1 season 9 finale on the list. It's weird how the star trek one wasn't even an honourable mention as it is very well known and this channel normally just picks the more known ones.

One thing is to be mortified and another making you husband's life a mess. She said "I do" for the sake of her relatives, but she should have never stayed with Ross after that, the way she was ignoring him was painful and really affected Ross, and at the end she made him choose and split a group of closed friends, you can have a happy life with a person like that...

Thing about "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" finale. It marked the end of the series on the WB Network. So when it advertised, it was advertised as "the series finale". So for us fans, it truly was the end. The internet wasn't a big thing then, so unless you were on the right sources, knowing that they were moving the show from the WB to UPN was not a known fact. So when the episode aired, it was the end of the show.

Watchmojo, you do realize there were shows before 2000, right? Out of the top 10 shows and the honorable mention, only ONE was before then and it's the most famous cliffhanger ever. Most of these shows are more recent.

Thanks god! Cause we would have missed out on the wonders that were Buffy and Spike! And her battling with depression. Which I think was a very poignant theme. And why Spike is a better fit, even though he is inherently flawed - he _understands_ Buffy.

To me, a very shocking cliffhanger was Season 5 of Star Wars: The Clone Wars (2008-2014;2020) when Ahsoka left the Jedi Order after being cleared of crimes she didn’t commit but became disillusioned with the Jedi because they didn’t stand by her. At first, we all thought that was the end of the show because at the time (2012-2013) it had been announced that Disney bought the rights to Lucasfilm and it was going to be the last season so it was a very shocking ending to everyone. Thankfully Season 6 was released via Netflix a year later and Season 7 via Disney+ in 2020 and we got to learn more about Ahsoka’s fate

That didn't really feel like a cliffhanger to me, as it was the ending of the arc of Ashoka losing her faith in the Jedi Order.

Fun fact: Ross originally wasn't suppose to say Rachel's name instead of Emily. It was David Schwimmer himself that messed up the line and they thought it was funny so they kept it in. Lol Also Buffy's death isn't really a cliffhanger because that was meant to be the series finale. It was UPN that decided to bring it back for 2 more years.

I honestly think the season 2 episode of Lost, Dave, has a killer cliffhanger. Revealing that Libby was in the mental hospital with Hurley was crazy just to not expand on it in 4 seasons.

But season 5 almost was the last season of Buffy after WB cancelled. It was only picked up by UPN and continued due to a fan campaign. It wasn't meant to be a cliffhanger, it was meant to be a finale.

And it should have been the series finale IMO. Buffy saved the world in epic fashion and that should have been the end of her journey as a Slayer.

@@rcmanization But Buffy did overcome Glory (her biggest challenge). Buffy wasn't killed by Glory, she willingly sacrificed her own life to save her sister's. Buffy was done and she was at peace with that.

The cliffhanger that shocked me was Everybody Hates Chris when Chris gets his GED results and it fades to black. My mom never understood why the show ended that way. I know this was based on Chris Rock’s life as he did drop out of high school when he was told that he would repeat the 10th grade.

I feel that the season 5 finale of Game of Thrones was a better entry than the Red Wedding. People had to wait until two episodes into the NEXT season to find out Jon Snow’s fate. And let’s face it - “For the watch,” was an absolutely shocking moment.

I'm not surprised it's not on the list because it doesn't get talked about these days, but The Pretender season 4 finale was a huge cliffhanger, especially since the show was cancelled in the off-season. Jarod and Miss Parker jumping/thrown from an exploding train... and credits. Did they live? did they die? - tune in next season to find out. Except the show was cancelled in between, and season 5 didn't happen. I didn't find out until about 6 years later that they made a couple tv movies to round out the story. 23 years, and I'm still pissed about it being cancelled.

I'd say a shocking cliffhanger for me was the ending of Season 2 of Amphibia. It was already shocking enough to see Anne, Sprig, Polly, and Hop Pop stuck on Earth with not knowing how to get back to the title location at that point in time, but what made that cliffhanger ending was what happened to Marcy. Getting stabbed in the back was nothing but brutally shocking! I remember when my brother and I first saw the episode, we were screaming our lungs out because of what we witnessed!

The X-Files was lord supreme when it came to cliff-hangers. Every season ended with you on the edge of the couch, tossing your popcorn into the air and screaming 'NOOOOOOOOO' into your darkened living toom at the thought of having to wait 5-6 months to find out what happened. My baby brother and I used to watch it together on the phone while he was away at University (we'd just put the phone on speaker phone and break down everything during the commercials - one of my fondest memories). Another good cliff hanger was Star Trek: The Next Generation's season ender with Cpt Picard being taken over by the Borg.

Yes, I agree. Seasons 1, 8 and (obviously) 9 and 11 were probably the only seasons to end with a more resolved feeling as opposed to a flat-out cliffhanger. The one that probably got me the most was how season 7 ended. Though season 5 added the extra element of anxiety with the 1998 movie coming in between the two season events.

24 was full of them, but the way season 5 ended was huge. Jack being kidnapped by the Chinese and the last image the cargo ship he's on on his way to China was a massive slap in the face after what was the best season of the show.

I think Power has the biggest plot twist because think about it: The girl Lauren who dated the main guy Tariq who was supposed to be dead but turned out she was alive I nearly passed out because she was supposed to be dead and I was sitting in front of my TV with my dad and my mouth flew open

Neegan just about ruined The Walking Dead for me. I was in college when the whole Who Shot J.R. thing was happening. Never watched the show, but still figured it out.
