it was a one slam wonder. look how BAD she's played ever since.
@richietaylor9870
@richietaylor9870 Жыл бұрын
@@karimmelikian934 assuming she plays until she’s 30, she has 10 years to find that form again. I’d say that’s a pretty big window of opportunity in which to improve. Even if she doesn’t, a one-slam wonder is still a slam winner which is more than can be said for most people. Or even, most tennis players. Whatever she does or doesn’t do afterwards, it was a brilliant achievement and still is. You might be right, but KZfaq comments are full of predictions, made as though they were factual declarations that ended up looking very silly later.

Actually Belinda Bencic and Iga Swiatek winnings weren't that big surprises. Belinda is one of the most solid players in WTA tour. When she became olympic champion, she was in top 15 and former top 5 player. Yeah, Iga winning Roland Garros 2020 was surprising because she wasn't even in top 50 then, but it wasn't top 10 worthy in this top because before RG she showed serous potential in WTA, winning Caroline Wozniacki in Montreal 2019 (if i don't lie) and in the same tournament was serious opponent to Naomi, who then was in great form. Maybe i would add the victory of Beatriz Haddad Maia in Nottingham in this top. :)

@@datbui6009 yeah it was surprise (the win against the main favorite then Halep with 6-2, 6-1 is still shocking)... I just meant Iga wasn't random player who won RG title. She already was in top 60 at age 19 and had some strong matches before that.

I don't exactly agree with Iga though. If you followed younger players closer, you could see signs of incredible talent, and future greatness. It wasn't accident that she: - since 2016 to 2018 reached 7 ITF's finals and won every single one, - won junior Wimbledon 2018 (singles), - reached junior RG SF (singles), 2018, - won junior RG doubles, 2018, - won doubles at Youth Olympics 2018, - was runner-up at Lugano Ladies Open 2019 (Hercog, the only one who beat Iga in a final, what a legend), - beat Woźniacka and gave Osaka a tough fight in Toronto, 2019, - reached 4R in Paris 2019, - reached 4R at AO 2020, - reached 3R at USO 2020. Her ranking history: 2016: #903 2017: #690 2018: #175 2019: #61 2020, September: #54 You could smell from a mile that SOMETHING *BIG* is coming, when she reached 4R RG again in 2020.
