@@marTn3 it was the early 2010s when he started to really lose the voice he's had for so many years, his voice has held up for over 6 decades though aha though it was around 2011 when his tone started to go unfortunately. Doesn't shift from the fact that he's one of the greatest singers and musicians of all time :)

I don't know the closing of the ceremony, but the best opening was that of the Barcelona Olympics.

The transition from Pavarotti's emotionally moving and raw performance to EXO was wild! No hate towards EXO, they absolutely killed their performance! I'm just saying that the clips were placed interestingly.

I attended the opening in Torino in 2006. He wasn't announced, but as soon as we heard his first "Nessun Dorma", he didn't have to be introduced. Pavarotti! Of course we never would have known at the time that we were witnesses to his final public performance. Thank you for sharing your music and talent with us one last time.

To people wondering why some kpop boy band is ranked here, it's because that was the 2018 Olympics in KOREA, where (obviously) Korean artists are popular. Because it was in Korea, they chose the no.1 korean boy band to perform on behalf of their country. Whether their performance was "better" than others or not doesnt matter as much because the Korean general public likes EXO (the name of the band) and knows about them.

The best brazilian performance so far at the closing ceremony in Rio 2016 it was by Marienne de Castro singing in front of the last moments of the torch. The rain, her voice and the fire together were astonishing.
