Nobody remembers Christina’s performances or music videos, Britney’s are all iconic. Nobody outside the USA Stan’s for Beyoncé but you’ve got Japanese people passing out at Britney concerts. Britney was invited last minute to perform with MJ on stage, that one collab performance is more iconic than any of these girls, Britney’s - “it’s Britney bitch” line is more iconic than your favs entire discography too. Aaliyah died the same day I got married to my now exwife. It’s so crazy how it’s been a few days more than 21 years ago that she passed away. It’s also crazy that I’ve been divorced now for few days more than 20 years 6 months.

Probably because a lot of people nowadays give up after not winning those shows. They can't deal with rejection. Also, it's not just about being a good singer. Unfortunately talent isnt all you need.

I remember watching Alanis Morrisette on a show on Nickelodeon called “You can’t do that on television” in the 80s when I was kid. In the 90s when she released “ Jagged Little Pill”, I had no idea she was the same girl that was on that old show. I didn’t find that out for a long time after I became a fan. Still love her too❤️

@@jeniestra. not an idiot, a genius. Look at how successful she was. Jessica Simpson tried the powerful voice in bubblegum pop and was nowhere near the level Britney was. They knew what was marketable and how to sell her and were obviously right. It's easy to say "well if she sang in her real voice she would've been more popular" when we really don't know that. Bollywood is full of thinking like this. Belting wasn't seen as lady-like and the image they were going for didn't fit it. Even Christina wasn't on Britney's level even with her powerhouse vocals

80s singer Tiffany was also on Star Search in 1984 before she was signed to her deal with George Tobin and released her hit self titled debut album in 1987 which featured the hits I Think We're Alone Now and Could've Been.

Yeah and back then future stars like Aaliyah, Beyonce, Britney ,Christina, & Justin actually had the vocal talent to get a record deal .....nowadays you only have to be discovered on KZfaq ( Justin Beiber) or be featured on a reality show ( Jojo Siwa) to be considered an actual celebrity.

Sinbad (the comedian) has been completely over looked. While he never became a superstar, he's had a long career in movies and TV. I met him the year he was on Star Search while he was touring (the finale hadn't aired yet). He was as hilarious off stage as on it.

After his appearance on Star Search, Drew Carey would find his way to the Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson in 1991. His set on there was good enough to have Johnny invite him to sit by his desk, which was big for any comedian making their first appearance on there.

When my son was nine, we moved from Texas to California. He was bullied a lot because of his drawl. I told him to tell the bullies that Beyoncé, Jamie Foxx, Patrick Swayze, and even Meatloaf were Texans, and the integrated circuit that makes personal computers possible was developed at TI, just 5 miles from my childhood home.

Someone worth mentioning is Clint Black who defeated LeAnn Rimes on Star Search. During their competition the horn player who was playing LeAnns song could not hit the higher note so it sounded like LeAnn was off key and Clint won that round.

Here's a weird thing, back in the 80's I saw the band RATT on Star Search. I told my little brother, "they're good but they'll never go anywhere with a name like rat." Then they won the show. Now there's no mention of them ever being on Star Search much less them winning the show. I recently asked my little brother if he remembered me saying that and he said "Yes, I remember." And now the category they were in isn't even listed on the Wikipedia page. Mandela Effect? Who knows, but I know what I saw, and so does my brother.

Beth Hart got a ton of perfect scores and won the championship. After going through some tough times, she has become a top notch blues singer, and even sang at the Kennedy Center Honors (With Jeff Beck on guitar) honoring Buddy Guy.

How can you people forget about the first band to ever win Star Search? Last year marked the 40th anniversary of their win: Sawyer Brown. I remember watching Tatyana Ali on Star Search. Ed Sullivan couldn't say her name straight. And she really rocked it for such a tiny girl. I remember LeAnn Rhymes too. Really not a surprise she shot to stardom. Ok, I did not realize That was Timberlake. He was adorable back then. I do remember Girls Tyme, but I never could have identified the ladies it. I also remember Spears. To be completely fair, apart from Tatyana Ali I had to see their faces back then to bring back the memories of watching them. Miss Ali I remember because I got mad at Sullivan for making an ass of himself. It's not that hard to say someone's name correctly, especially when they are patiently sounding it out for you.

'Star Search' was never broadcasted in my country, now that I watch the videos here on KZfaq, I'm amazed by the good eye they had for talent. I still can't believe Christina lost, I wonder where that Christopher guy is nowadays 🤔. I would have put Beyoncé in the number one spot.

Richard Marx and Sawyer Brown are far more relevant to me than any of the above although Christina recorded a few songs I like. There was also a young actress in the early days when they had that category. Don't recall her name but she was very, very, good. I think she went on to daytime soaps after that.
