Tyrone Selwood the reason that Batman stopped beating up Superman was not solely because of the fact that their mothers had the same name, but that Batman realized the humanity within Superman, a person who he previously thought was nothing. When he learned that Superman had an innocent mother, he realized that if he let her die, Superman would suffer the same loss that Bruce Wayne suffered when he lost his parents, and he started being Batman so people won't have to suffer losses like that. It is a powerful scene.

olumide ijandipe I put the Ant-Man fights on here because they were so intense, well-animated, well-choreographed, and extremely creative. It was hard for me to narrow it down to 10 fights, because there are so many good duels in superhero flicks!

I personally loved the battle between Superman and Zod in Man of Steel, even if it was mostly CGI it was epic and seriously destructive.

I agree, out of all the modern superhero films, not since the first Matrix (possibly the third with that Zion battle!) have I had my mind blown by a fight of any kind, Krypton vs US marines left me gawping as well! :O

Say what you want about the Man of Steel, but the battle versus Zod was pretty epic! Sure, it was disaster-porn, but that's exactly what would happen if beings at that strength level fought anywhere near civilization.

Code Breaker City was pretty much deserted during the fight, apart from when the fight moved to a street with people. And if any civilian died, it was Zod's fault

You kids just don't get why Batman vs Bane is the top do you? The fight is not about flashy moves or some cool movie editing shits like any other superhero fight scenes. Its the psychology behind the fight that makes it epic without the use of any fancy movie effects or background music. No superhero fight scene has ever brought such realism and emotional impact like the way Batman vs Bane fight did. You will never get the fight scene nor the movie unless you watch the whole trilogy. Thats what makes the fight very personal to anyone who watched the whole trilogy.

It wasn't just the fact that it awesome and faithful to the comics. It also very well directed (the biggest criticism of Nolan was that his "action" scenes were left to be desired), instead of having the regular formula with using some generic epic music in the background. He just has Batman vs Bane with the only sound effects were their animalistic grunts, brutal hits, and the ambience of the sewer. It was simply perfect. Children simply can't comprehend this and instead and say: OH EM GEE: THAT POINTLESS IRON MAN/THOR SCRAP WAS EPIC!!!

I agree with Batman Vs Bane being #1 on this list... the fight is absolutely...terrifying. I remember first seeing it, and everyone in the theatre was dead silent... and shocked. To see my favorite superhero get beaten, when he gave it all he had. Just the way it was done makes it my favorite fight ever put on screen. When it comes to the style, its supposed to be raw, gritty, and realistic. I agree it isn't the best stylized fight, such as Captain America:WS, or IP man. But I think it deserves #1 because the way it was done and the emotional weight... its a phenomenal scene.

I'm not certain, but a possible reason for this not to contain Man of Steel is time. Man of steel was released around June 14, 2013, and this video on June 20, 2013. So, depending on such things as how long it takes to produce a video such as this, and other factors like if the creator had even watched the movie by the time this was being created, could contribute towards the final results regarding the Man of Steel's duel against Zod...

it's not about flashy choreography or badass ninja moves, it's about tension, buildup and characterization that made Batman vs Bane the best fight. and do wholeheartedly agree. that fight made an emotional impact on me, every strike Bane hit was brutally felt, every piece of his monologue was inspiring and menacing. THIS is how you do a fight, not with flashy special effects or overtly choreographed moves- but with memorables lines of dialogue and a well places homage to a very iconic moment from the comic.

Bane completely owned Batman in this fight scene, both physically and verbally. while everyone keeps thinking that Batman is the greatest and is invincible, Bane completely exposed a few of his weaknesses, in terms of physical strength and limits as to how much Batman can accomplish. in The Dark Knight we saw how Joker screwed with him mentally, but here Batman was broken right down to his soul, both with eerie lines as you said, and absorbing all of Batman punches which were ineffective, but with Bane's punches...... i felt as though I was getting hit as well. lol, and yeah while it may not be flashy, it truly is memorable. great points you raised there.

Leon Ince Another thing I loved about that Bane fight was how much Bane beat Bruce with a major theme of the movie, exposing of the truth. The first line Bane says to Batman was revealing his true identity. Every line of dialogue out of Bane after that was a punch in the gut (pun intended), hitting him with more truths. Batman could no longer win by hiding in the dark, it was only later in the movie -- finally coming out into the light -- could he win. Gotham could not longer thrive living a lie, with Batman a vigilante hiding. Nolan loves to use the metaphor of light and dark in all his movies.

yep. and the irony is how Batman became victorious by coming out into the light, as u said, and forsaking his most advantageous tactics in his repertoire..... utilizing the dark. and that somewhat reduces the title of the movie and his nickname as being the Dark Knight. lol. and another irony.. how someone of pure evil as Bane shed so much light in this movie based on the points you made, such as revealing Batman's Identity and exposing the truth about Harvey Dent. lol

Leon Ince Just to add to what you said, one of the main tools Batman uses on his enemies was fear. In Batman Begins he had to conquer and overcome his own fears to become Batman. However in Rises in order for him to escape the Pit he had to use the fear within himself to climb out. Interesting turnaround along with the light and darkness theme.

THEDIEHARD COMICBOOKGAMER The trilogy is a disrespect to Batman post-1970s. It's more like the older comics from the early 1940s until the late 1960s. Once Frank Miller started writing Batman, he became the overpowered monstrosity he is today. Frank didn't do it alone though, he had help ruining the character.

My personal favourite has to be Captain America's first face-off with the Winter Soldier. The hand to hand (or should I say Hand to Shield) combat is raw, precise and brutal :D the Winter Soldier's silence throughout the scene also adds to the Appeal

I agree with TraciPeteyforlife. Out of all these fights, the fight between the Punisher and the Russian is the only one that I can watch over and over and over and over and over again without getting bored. It is intense, hilarious, and smart. I love it so much lol

It was nothing more than a struggle for Wayne to not show how weak he was against this oponent under the given circumstances. Heck, even Spider-Man's battle against the Lizard [the one in school] from the latest film was more exciting.

First of all, physically, the fight did not make sense. Parts of the fight were not choreographed well. Second, it was anti - climactic as well. Batman is supposedly a world class fighter, but not for that fight it seems. I understand he was out of action for over a year, but still. The fight was about as exciting as Banes death, which was Catwoman shooting him. We have different opinions on this, sure, but don't be a jerk.

Actually, the fight was choreographed "better" than you think. Remember that Christopher Nolan wanted realism. Well, that is what a real brawl would look like. It wasn't supposed to look like anything fancy. Even with Martial Arts, a realistic fight would not have those excessive movements you often see in other Martial Arts movies. It's not my favorite fight, but I understand why the fight looked that way.

Ryan Worman well in the comics bane also had batman fighting and capturing all the inmates from arkham he let loose to weaken batman so that when they fought he would be too tired. in the movie batman just went down like a punk. it was like he forgot he was kicking brick walls earlier in the movie and now he couldnt even punch bane.

True, it lacked action, but it was emotional fight. Batman is desperate through entire match, he realizes that he is outmatched and because of that he forgets to use his brain (as he usually do) and loses. Also, Bane is taunting him whole time, so Batman was so pissed that he lost control over himself. Good fight isn't all about action, it also needs to show us what's happening in fighter's mind during it.

The way they fought reminded me of a dream I had today where I was in a fight. I couldn't move my arms and legs quickly as I felt like something was holding on to them and I can't fight regardless. Batman is a martial arts expert and he fights like some random brawler.

How are the human fights better than the super-fights? All they do is punch and kick, nothing special. Especially coming from the Dark Knight films. Batman only made it to the list(twice!!!) because he is... Batman. Boo-hoo Batman got his back broken, the fighting was so freaking slow; it's like he weighed 300 pounds and he didn't know martial arts. It's was like a drunken bar fight. Captain America vs Winter Soldier was way better. At least Chris Evans knew how to fucking fight. This list is pretty bad. Clark Kent vs Evil Supes? Should have just done vs Zod. TMNT vs Shredder? Wow, every hero has a struggle with their villain at first, but this shouldn't even been mentioned. Hulk vs Abomination was way better than all of the other mentions. It's like the 10-5 are better than the 4-1. Punisher vs Russian? Left hook, right hook, fall off the fucking staircase. You could have done better than this Mojo...

It wasn't really how big and flashy the fight was... it was impact it had on Batman. It was like a lot of people have said, this was the Nolan Batman's first encounter with an adversary who was both his intellectual near-equal, and physical superior. Coupled with Bane's speech that showed how Batman's entire world and work was crumbling, it ended with him getting utterly, and almost humiliatingly defeated. He went in, fully confident that he could end it all there, but instead, he found himself painfully outmatched. It all just had a huge impact.

K.T M I never said anything about the realism. :~/ But I think it's a good fight because of how it symbolized Batman being overpowered. That's actually tougher to symbolize than you'd think. He wasn't just beaten into the dirt, he was outmatched, outclassed and outwitted. If anything, he helped the enemy, by leaving his armory unattended.

Agree completely. The martial arts choreograph for Batman wasn't even good. Take any fight scene from the Arrow TV show, and it tops this easily.

I have a feeling the only reason the Rises fight is popular is *because* of Bane's monologue. Choreography and excitement wise, it's incredibly weak and anemic. Batman (despite his lay off) is supposed to be a master martial artist, yet is unable to even deliver a single worthwhile hit or guard properly? It was so cool! But there's just too many CGIs and no real fighting arts whatsoever. Zod is a warrior, but what makes him got the upper hand? Throwing things and hiding in surroundings? To be honest it reminds me of Cloud vs Sephiroth on Final Fantasy Advent Children, heck Zod didn't even try to fly when Clark got him in the final sequence (look at the leg submission, it's weak!). Zod can see at the family he was going to kill with his eyes, but he couldn't direct the laser...seriously? It's still a good fight nonetheless, should be on the list.

Is it just me...or does the costumes for the teenaage mutant ninja turtles look remarkably real, even for today's standards? Really good work, and the rooftop scene is one of my all-time favorite fights...and adaptions.

What about the Superman V.S. General Zod in the Man of Steel. That was the violent and the most destructive duel I've ever seen. Superman kills Zod and most of Metropolis is destroyed plus the full fight is like 40 minutes long.

Just because I'm a Marvel fan, my opinion isn't invalid. DC is seriously lacking when it comes to action sequences, while Marvel is seriously lacking in developing their villains. Batman battling Bane was a horribly slow and dull fight, and could have easily been replaced by nearly everything Marvel has done.

anonemuss93 I don't personally believe he's any of those things, and though sometimes his portrayals can be ridiculous there's not anything fundamentally wrong with the character. Mentally unstable: maybe in some ways, if he can resist from killing even those he despises that seems pretty stable to me. Powerless: he defeated the Justice League and has accomplished many other things; that's not even debatable. As far as being an a**hole and possible pedophile: those statements are both absurd and based on nothing but your dislike for the character. Fans are irrelevant to Batman. That's out of control. PS: Insulting human beings is actually worse than insulting people in my opinion.

Pablo Erdmenger I understand where you are coming from. Nolan stated that he wanted to make a more realistic universe, which I felt he did(I mean a ten foot tall dude with the size of the Hulk as not very believably). Something I have learned as a comic fan I to respect to film as a separate universe from the comics and know that they have the right to make the character there own. As long as they don't just completely ignore what they are basing it off of it is fine with me.

They did say that the main reasons it was on the list were Bane's monologue and the homage to the comics.

agreed, any fight scene in the tv show Arrow (if anyone watches that) is multitudes better, simply because of the fluid and almost acrobatic quality of the fights. Batman vs Bane was slow, clunky, and boring, and it really disappointed me
