If anything, it's probably safer bet to go with the original, rather than the dub. Since the dub, most importantly by 4kids, really liked messing around with the script, and either make it more heart wrenching, or more hopeful and light hearted than it actually was. Like remember about Brock's mother being supposedly dead? Nope, just only in the dub, where she's later revealed and shown to be alive the whole time. As the original just said she split, and left the family, for a reason or another. Being just about as deadbeat as the dad was. So in this case, Ash never promised anything to Pidgeot, and is mostly left to be a guardian, to watch over the other Pidgeys and Pidgeottos.

That makes the age thing even weirder. It means that Ash is 11 in the Sun and Moon anime, but in Journeys, which is literally after Sun and Moon, he is 10 again. So not only he doesn't get older. He actually gets younger.

Well near the end of season 1, I forget where, ash and friends return somewhere (it’s been a while) where he says “wow, it’s already been a year” or something like that which must mean that he’s been 11 since season 1.

In the JP version he said he'd return after they finished their errand.

Whatever the case, if ash said it, he should do it regardless of what the original version did or didn't include

From what I discovered, it was primarily done to introduce new audiences to the world of Pokémon, both in the games and the anime.

Technically Ash did trade his Butterfree for the Gentleman’s Raticate but he had second thoughts about it and decided to trade their Pokémon back.

If it would be a Multiverse how can it be that in some seasons he can use some of his older Pokemon like Charizard? or in Jorneys that he sees his pokemon in Alola in one episode and just a few later the rest of them at professor Oaks? They even had an episode were ash meet an alternate dimension copy with him where team rocket was very powerful.

@@RuseGuise no plan as i just got interest in Pokemon again since Gen3. But if it would be a multiverse wouldn't he lack his previous pokemon from the previous Universe? Because to match your theory you have 2 Options: 1. Each Season is a own Universe with a own ash which just shares the 1. Generation and afterwards goes to a different 2. Location (1. Generation is fixed due to pikachu and Professor Oak) That way you can explain why he is not aging but at the same time he should be unable to use pokemon from his alternatives. So generation 2 cannot be in generation 3-8. generation 3 not in 4-8 etc. 2. He travels in a timeloop over to another universe without knowing. In that case you could have a multiverse-option where In that scenario he would catched at least the pokemon before but still age and he would need to transfer everyone else also with him which would probably be a chaos scenario if i.e. professor oak sees him going and within 1 hour he gets 40-50 Pokemon in his laboratory. Every person would also remember it in the world due to the effect chain and there should even never be someone be born who was not existing before ash started. Even the evolutions should not exist.

He was just trying to consider its feelings. And the promise to come back for it wasn't even nearly as strong in the Japanese version. Also, Pidgeot had next to no personality compared to Ash's other birds.

Devolved? He was just being his usual self, only with extra experience. Remember he was originally more arrogant and mean, but he had since been humbled and toned down with his attitude, which actually is a show of maturity. Even in XY he would use sound effects to try to describe how to use a move in the same way he always does.

Yep. Doesn't make sense why they pretended Ash-Greninja never existed. I guess the writers thought that bringing it up would be an unnecessary consumption of runtime/budget and that it would be too much for Goh to comprehend. Many of us were just very glad that Greninja returned at all and that too as a much stronger fighter than before. Then again, why would Pokemon want us to forget the beloved power-up of the most popular Pokemon?

Yeah, the Mossdeep Gym battle was a mega-WTF moment. Anyone looking at this would have thought, "Isn't Swellow supposed to be weak against electric attacks?" It makes things like counter shields and targeting the field itself to remove certain effects better explained by comparison. It's up there with Pikachu being able to electrocute Ground type Pokémon sometimes into a one-hit KO (remember "aim for the horn"?). Did they all suffer earth leakage?

This put whole Japanese audience in confusion. I've watched whole series Japan from the beginning, I got a lot life-long friends in Japan and there are videos about this PEOPLE FROM JAPAN. Do you want to play this game? I am open for bets... money? gift card? you name it if you think you are that sure. Only dub error was in Johto in Satoshi/Ash's first GYM match - not in the episode where Pidgeot leaves (Pallet town panic). At that point Japanese version confirms Pidgeot is released but originally from what Ash said people thought he will come back for his Pidgeot.

@Nolen-Lynn Boyd I don't have a problem with him not using the form in the episode itself, but in the flashback two cuts (Ash vs Alan and The goodbye scene) were he was Ash Greninja were purposely changed for what reason I don't even know. Also a bit of a spoiler The form Ash Greninja is not in the SV game. The ability exist but the form itself is gone so that strengthens my case.

Japan didn't know that the show would be going international when that episode was made. But yeah. Definitely a big no-no in America.
