Plus, Mariana is just a pleasure to deal with. She's answered several questions for me and I've very much enjoyed our conversations. It also helps that the MRG won't recommend a product or service based solely on second hand information. You're getting verified information from somebody who knows the material well.

I PAID 1-800-Got Junk to empty my 2 bedrooms apartment, closets and all. It was a Swedish Death Cleansing, and they did an excellent job. I did not have junk, and I had lived there almost 24 years. I always packed up things I was not using in RubberMaid containers, gave the RM numbers, and packed like with like. Books, tapes, journals, pictures, and furniture. I seperatd things within the RM with Ziplock bags of all sizes, and I used index cards to write, what was inside, RM#, and location in the apartment, all covered with Mexican serapes, and books on display on top. I still have the index cards, ad what I was taking to Queretaro was in my bathtub, as they emptied the entire apartment. Later, I gave away all my food preps, bathroom, and kitchen items. I have been coming to Mexico over 60 years, mainly Acapulco, and I speak Spanish as a second language. Earthquakes were the deal breakers for Acapulco. USA got too deadly and expensive, so at 79, I moved to Queretaro, Mexico. I have a beautiful apartment, that is 100% furnished, all utilities , WiFi, and a maid is included in a gated community with 24/7 security. The people are super nice, and it is about $800 per month for everything, including groceries home delivery, takeout, laundry, tours etc vs $1650 per month in the USA. If you are on a pension, or can work online, get your passport, 2 Charles Schwab debit cards, so you do not pay ATM or foreign transaction fees, but notify them when and where you travel. Queretaro is SAFE, CLEAN, and BEAUTIFUL, and I thank God for moving me here. R.I.P. Everyone being killed everywhere, for the souls leave the bodies, and God is in charge. ALL LIVES MATTER! Please behave, and obey God.

Hi Paul, I’m Mexico Relocation’s Guide here in Playa Del Carmen. Mariana’s services and guide are top notch. Over the past year we have done a few video interviews and live streams touching on many of the points you covered. Coupled with your excellent videos and her detailed approach to getting “boots on the ground” info about what life in Mexico is really like it’s a win win combination! I’m a big fan and every time I’m at Lol-Ha I hope that one of these days our paths will cross!

Paul, you've done so well, I found your blog first. It was a joy to watch you do a KZfaq channel! Your information is spot on, and you are amazing at KZfaq! I've been in Mexico since 1989 on a part time basis, and since 2009 on a full time basis. I can vouch: your information is absolutely correct on everything. When I retired from the federal government in 2015, it allowed me to experience Mexico the way that we as retired folks should. With fun, caution, and with all our hearts.

One main reason to move to Mexico as a permanent resident would be to avoid having to pay the high taxes in Canada. The issue with transferring money from a Canadian to a Mexican bank would be a red flag for Revenue Canada. The CRA would deem you to still be a resident and therefore be liable to pay taxes. One option might be to move your money to a Caribbean country with favourable banking laws (Turks & Caicos) and then transfer money as needed and check the rates as stated.

YES!... I agree with all the positive comments. Glad to have finally found "the real deal" source of information. And you do it so well. I was disappointed yet glad when hearing about the car import scenario. I DO want to travel into Mexico with my car (nine years old haha) because I'd like to travel the country leisurely in order to find my spot. There are SO many places that attract me. But now I'm faced with the conundrum of having to go for the temporary residency, when I would really prefer to go for the permanent one right away. Coming with my car would also allow me to load up my car (Subaru Impreza 2013 hatchback, less than 40K miles) with my belongings which seems so much easier than shipping suitcases, but perhaps it's not?... Any and all feedback would be so very greatly appreciated. Your videos ROCK! Muchos Gracias!

Question below regarding "safety" and this doesn't just apply to Mexico. 20 years ago we had an acquaintance who moved to San Jose' Del Cabo after retiring (we had been going there for years to fish). Anyway, Herb met a Mexican national, got married and purchased a home and we (his fishing buddies who hadn't retired yet) visited and enjoyed seeing Herb and his new wife enjoying themselves. Flash forward a few years and things got a little sketchy when Herb's wife's extended family moved in. Herb dealt with it the best he could for a couple of years, until a few years ago when we visited and Herb was no longer anywhere to be found. His wife of 6 years said he just "up and left". We contacted the local police (if Herb would have reached that point, he would have contacted one of us), but they simply shrugged their shoulders and said "we will keep an eye out". Sadly, we never knew what happened to Herb. His wife and family now refuse to speak with any of us.

this was an excellent presentation. full of info lacking in other videos. more details for sure. i just recently learned the sad news about driving your own car to your mexican destination. sadly, i just bought a "new" used car just to tow a trailer when i move. so, i guess i won't be going to mexico any time soon. i've only owned my car for a month now. just paid 500 bucks for the hitch 2 days ago. i'd lose way too much money to sell it now. maybe next year. in the meantime, i gotta now find an affordable place to live here in the states! and that's becoming nearly impossible. no matter what GOOD things i hear about anything, they never seem to apply to me. there's always a catch - or 20! no matter what i try to do to better my life, there's always something put in place to stop me!
