Battery is for lazy folks. If you really want to be in it do the right thing and buy an old nitro that runs and you will need to work on. Traxxas supports the parts really well. Thats if you have the time of course.

It’s funny isn’t it, I scored an old thunder tiger ek4 for about $180 at the local markets, hasn’t run in years!. Abit of a clean up, flush out, replaced the servos and away it went!! 8 time out of 10 when wanting to go for a bash.. I reach for the TT over my xmaxx

I appreciate hearing stories from original hobbyists it helps me see how far we've come and where we started

How much did you spend on the slash😳?

@@germanrcdriver39 a bunch. I would "guesstimate" 1000+. Did it little at a time. Started with ultimate slash 4x4. Converted to "monster" slash. Pro line tires, body, posts,max 8 combo, rpm everything. Stainless screws, MIP Cvd front and rear. Probably lots I'm not think of. Like I said , I have a problem.😁 Gives me something to do. Spent countless hours "wrenching".

Never heard of this condition but I'm certain I suffer from the same. I have a "replaced everything" Mojave and a extremely upgraded Baja Rey king shocks.

I recommend people just getting into the hobby to just skip all the riff-raff and go straight for the x-maxx... because I wish I had, would have saved a lot of money on drastically inferior vehicles. The x-maxx is miles ahead of anything else in terms of both fun and durability.

You can deffinetly kill a nitro they're built with the same cheap parts the other trucks are made with only they have actual engines in them.

Traxxas is the best I agree. They offer something for every category and some of their vehicles are over the top but are reliable at the same time. Customer service is outstanding. I’ve called them for so many things and sometimes my fault not even theirs and they still took care of me. Another thing I like about them just so it’s on the record for everyone here if you don’t already own a Traxxas, is the engineering is built-in. Armas look nice and they say they are built tough. But they seem to break in a lot of the review videos and parts support is not nearly as good as Traxxas. So for a weekend crawler or bash session for someone such as me when I break something it is good to know Parts will be there for the next 5 to 10 years and I can fix it that day as well. And yeah I guess you could call me a Traxxas fan boy. But how could you not be for the weekendDrive session for the recreational User.

Rc media is correct they are trash and castle has a better warranty then Traxxas does. They even give you a core charge for non warranty products. Traxxas does not. I smoked a mamba x with reversepolarity. They gave me 50 bucks for the burnt one. The parts support is good only because there vehicles never change and there new vehicles are just mutts. Whole bunch of old parts to make a new vehicle and add a new body. Call it something else. Example the slash is outdated and been the same since its release in 2008. My sc10 sc5m sc6.1 from associated are Nothing alike and the technology has got better and better with every iteration. The slash is the same old busted pos as it was in 2008 so that's the only reason why they have parts. There like apple over priced for what you get

@@jeffbryner5355 Traxxas will take your bad electronics and offer you a replacement at a discounted cost, or you can trade in electronics and upgrade at a discounted price. It doesn't matter how old these electronics are, it doesn't expire. If your hobby shop is a traxxas dealer they'll do it there too.

@@nate0765 oh ok. I was not aware of the core program. Idk why anyone would want to upgrade to another Traxxas electronic especially when there is so many better options out there for cheaper. I guess that's good for the people who don't really know much about rc's.

Yeah I'm an associated guy and actually raced with a partial sponsorship when I was younger and I mean really younger LOL. But as far as I'm concerned associated rules the buggies and in this video they said the bandit had the most hop-up parts in the world and that was a bunch of BS lol. I have probably seven different versions of the original rc10. Between a&l trailing arm conversion MIP four-wheel drive conversion monster truck conversions etc etc. But that being said I love it did I say love absolutely love my Traxxas emax brushless and my ex Maxx brushless. I'm even buying a Max and probably a horse because I just started my own hobby shops so to speak with one of my business partners. Nothing sells better than Traxxas because they come like a lightning out of a box. Associated to make them do that you got to do a lot of stuff even if it's the factory team version. I rarely ever draw anything that I have more fun with then my emax or Xbox but when it comes to racing I love my original and I have all the way through the B6 tricked out. I'm starting on the four-wheel drive next and for those I usually go with the kyosho buggies. I've got several original javelins terrible octopus even a salute all in mint condition. Some turbo optima mid special editions even with the ANL trailing arm conversion. The original decals for that sucker were 150 bucks and that's without the body. The javelin is still my favorite car all together because it was my first one in 1987. And when they really love to get all kinds of different colors graphite and make it to work and handle the new motors a dream come true. I'm starting my own League and track along with my hobby shop in my hometown just so I can race four wheel drive and my monster. Don't want you to think I was arguing with you because I love Traxxas. Ever since I saw the TMax racing with five horsepower and now that can blow that out of the box literally just picking one up and putting batteries in it.

Durable my ass. I'd go to my hobby shop for replacement parts and a different part would break same day. More pain in the ass than fun. I'm damnsure gonna get a drone before another Traxxas or team losi

The revo 2.0 didn’t get enough love either, that thing is a goddamn beast (outside of servos) after a $10 chassis brace and $5 limiting straps ive been sending mine off ramps as hard as I can and haven’t had to use any of the spares I bought ahead of time… guess it’s good problem to have 😅😂

@@traxxasrc10 I believe it is in the receiver the TSM system resides, not the transmitter. And though in low gear there is no need for TSM, in high gear on loose surfaces it is beneficial.

@@TheMacdaddy84 Definitely. It's fast, fun, and tough as nails. Just start out slow. I run 2s in mine and I am used to its handling. Next, I'll be getting 3s and see what she can do!

@@tysemilicia9548 I have both, they both have their pros and cons. I consider both brands at the top of the heap. Really you can't go wrong with either but both is better for me. The typhon 3s is a good entry point into arrma.

Agree, the bandit could use some love, and the slash? God tier RC. If you want something to tune and tinker with that won’t break the bank THATS the RC. It’s also so freakin light it never breaks. Added aluminum rear hubs to mine after a collision a couple runs into owning it and haven’t had a single break since, and I take that thing to the skatepark, air it out with the big boy e revo 2.0 😅😂

Atleast give it 12mm wheel hubs 🙈

My first modern R/C truck was ASSOCIATED. Shortly after I bought it theg stopped making replacement parts available. For small rock crawling fun look at the KYOSHO MINI-Z 4x4 which is tough, many features and incredible detail.

I eventually fitted my 1/18 TA with a body made out of a cardboard box. This was replaced by a body made of uncooked pasta. No joke. When I smash up a body, I just build a new one. Bashed and broken up dirty Spaghetti even with garlic and Alfredo Sauce doesn't taste right.

That's information I never saw! Thx a lot. Looking for something tameable for my youngest when he's 6. Older brother (and dad) have the Xmaxx 8s so with the power turned right down my 5yr old can enjoy. An important point will be If I can dial the power down but it's funny becasue when he drives the Xmax I think a crawler would suit better. I have to be honest and say I am not happy with the 1000+ batteries and changer for the Xmax to find that in less than a year I forked out for 3!!! steering servos. Even the traxx recommended ones (2085X) Now I am down the rabbit hole of "Is it the receiver putting out some strange voltages/signal frequencies that are destroying servos? or the ECU? one thing for certain, is mild jumps on grass at 40% power is nowhere near what this truck is capable of.

@@farleftsilencelikenazis1021 Traxxas models all feature a training mode that reduces top speed down to 50% and it can sawing be turned on and off (but not easy enough for a young child to switch). I would not recommend getting the slowest of the slow to start out with, if you go with a Stampede brushed truck, it is just like the xmaxx but smaller and goes 30mph (Or 15 mph on training mode) and it way cheaper than the trx-4. And since it goes so fast and can be upgraded to brushless, it will not be ditched once he gets more experienced.

I don’t think that’s true anymore. With the updated pushrods I have had no problems whatsoever. Previously I agree durability was a MAJOR problem but not anymore.

Love my stampede and it barely ever brakes

If you can't afford a x maxx grab up a maxx I have both and I gotta say I have alot more fun with my maxx because it's so much easier to take out and it's a insanely durable truck so you won't be emptying your pockets into repairs my xmaxx has been sitting completely tore apart for like 2 months because I have been having so much fun with my maxx I keep getting too lazy to put the xmaxx back together lol

@@usdennis1236 if you can get an xmaxx by all means get one the major benefits the maxx has over the xmaxx is being able to run it in a much smaller area and even though the xmaxx is very durable with the maxx essentially being a shrunk down version it can take even crazier hits because it has alot less weight so alot less damage gets done there both insanely fun I got a little to carried away with upgrading my xmaxx so it makes me a little more hesitant to send it like I do my maxx

But their so successful because their marketing tactics are second to none.. but there are makers out their that produce way better gear and are cheaper.. but they just can’t get the front page of their novel right… it’s all in the marketing
