A two-stroke (or two-cycle) engine is a type of internal combustion engine that completes a power cycle with two strokes (up and down movements) of the piston during only one crankshaft revolution. This is in contrast to a "four-stroke engine", which requires four strokes of the piston to complete a power cycle during two crankshaft revolutions. In a two-stroke engine, the end of the combustion stroke and the beginning of the compression stroke happen simultaneously, with the intake and exhaust (or scavenging) functions occurring at the same time.
Two-stroke engines often have a high power-to-weight ratio, power being available in a narrow range of rotational speeds called the "power band". Compared to four-stroke engines, two-stroke engines have a greatly reduced number of moving parts.

Watch the videos from Kaplan cycles in Kaplan of Kaplan museum in New England and he has a brand new in-house design built right into the floor museum and the first man you ever show that you take the nabio off the back of your dirt bike and it made it five horsepower reading as today's true that are rebuilt from yesterday's from the 80s a 250 will make 50 horsepower a 500 will make 70 horsepower125 today are making 38 to 40 hp and a brand new line DC 125 electronic fuel injected makes 40 horsepower and weighs 187 lb and today four-stroke motocross bikes of the 250cc size don't stand a chance against it 40 horsepower 187 lb Husqvarna shoes girl going steroids with fuel injection that is in the bush reports that's where they inject them that's why the last few years they've had tons of engine problems because if you're injected injectors are injecting a pill into the boost cards that are already supercharged with the fresh air and fuel in the bus ... That type of way the air filmmakers not be seen in that corrected for and I finally got it out of them cuz they turn it there are boost sensors in the crankcase reading the crankcase boost pressure ... If you have an amazing expansion chamber catches up with the engine RPMs and the volume of the intake cheaper charged next the exhaust soundwave blocks the port of the exhaust long enough to hold that press give it to charge Karen Nick long enough for this results for it you're on the pipe the power band begins and you're off to the Moon with a guy on a four-stroke trying to figure out how you're cheating has no one to last hour like a supercharger or a turbo or Motocross fine making two strokes or king forever as they super charge just remember two strokes make boost ,four strokes suck www.motorcycle.com/how-to/how-twostroke-expansion-chambers-work-and-why-you-should-care-3423.html#:~:text=In%20reality%2C%20expansion%20chambers%20are,cylinder%2C%20filling%20it%20to%20greater Bottom line if you don't have this you're not going to win anything www.husqvarna-motorcycles.com/en-ee/models/motocross/2-stroke/tc-125-2022.html

Two strokes are insane rather they are stupendously fast and the vibrations...literally shake up the body as if one is thrown in a big mixer. But it is fun ...specially 2 stroke twin engines. The firing sound as one speeds up really adds spice to driving at great speeds.

And it was the president of Honda Mr Honda himself who is mostly responsible for getting manufacturers banned from building them and selling them new in this country of the United States anyway.... And no one today even knows why Honda was so obsessed hating two cycles engines as you call them two strokes today as it was Honda was the last motorcycle manufacturer to build a two-stroke motorcycle that was designed built and raced by pop Yoshimura world's greatest tuner and the smartest man on two strokes or four strokes whatever it was however will be.. pop Yoshimura was Honda's R&D instructor at the training center for Honda in Milwaukee Wisconsin and that is where I finally learned exactly how to cycle engine operates.... The person not only compresses the air fuel mixture in the combustion chamber it also compresses the air fuel mixture in the crankcase before it is forced into the combustion chamber to be compressed again before it's fired that is the cycle of how a two-cycle engine supercharges itself that's when it hits the power band that's when it's the air fuel mixture becomes higher pressure than the atmosphere and it never stops gaining something a four-stroke natural aspirated engine cannot possibly ever do.. Honda's need four-stroke CRF150 motocross bike barely makes over 20 horsepower.... Husqvarna's new 2-stroke TC 125 makes 40 horsepower and weighs 187 lb no way are you ever going to catch it with any four-stroke naturally aspirated the same size engine it's impossible but the millennials keep on buying them they're heavy on the front end they push and pull out the front door hardest damn dirt bikes for a ride yeah on a two-stroke and flying like on a magic carpet with twice the horsepower and gaining all the time is revving

I had a GT380 too and numerous other mx strokers...absolute fun and straightforward maintenance. The RD's were and are incredible. Those days seem too be coming back here in the state's. The TZ's are extremely rare and although I never rode one I did have the opportunity to sit on one back in the early 80s. I had to clean the bike off well because I had drooled all over it! Best to you and may the new year bring many successes!

Ts 125,tc125,ts90 for parts , and a gt250 and another ts or tc125 around. The oddball was the 73 RV 125 that handled like crap, because the engine offset it would pull to one side while accelerating and decelerating. I've still got the tc frame and the RV complete ,the engine is a little tired as it had one of the hop up kits on it so it was ran hard before I got it.

For its time the GT 750 was not especially fast. It was basically three MZ 250s slotted into one set of casings. 70bhp on OEM pipes or 80 on Allspeeds spannies. People say the handling was poor but a decent set of rear shocks sorted that out. The last Kettle was made in 1977. RE5 was also latter half of 1970s.

As "Standard" it was a bit of a "Shitter" it was quite quick, but not fast, it handled like you were shagging a Rhino & it was so f#ckin big & heavy(5'8 29 in seem), that said there was a lot to love, it was one of the easiest bikes of its day to tune if you knew what you were doing, the handling could be helped but not cured, "The Smoothest Ride of their Day" I'm not convinced, but not the worst by a long way, I raced it for a while & always prayed for rain. I'm not sure where the 3 MZ engines comes from but you could get a damn sight more than 80bhp from it, I currently have a heavily modified & Gassed one that is heading for 390bhp & covers the 1/4 in 8.2, I've modded the coolant system that was woefully shite & it has masses of torque so it goes like f#ck, & it's still "Street Legal" it shows up an awful lot of riders in their Ichifanni5000 R-RR-RRR's, but I mainly destroy them with my Gassed Gamma500 now there's a bike that never needed modding, but I did anyway. PS the "Rotary" & pretty much all the "Rotary's" were Shite.

@@robertomalatesta6604 Japanese manufacturers claimed HP was vastly over exaggerated back then and none of those 500s came anywhere near to producing 95hp. The RG, RD and H1 were all easily rideable and well behaved bikes with maybe the exception being the H1 because of it's poorer handling. I rode H1 for leisure and to work through London in the early 70s and did the same with an RG500 in the 80s and although fast for their day were never overpowered or felt as if they were and could be ridden flat-out. Often the myth of those bikes overtakes the facts.

No such thing as overpowered, period. Bikes like the RD500 or TZ had good power for the time and size. By comparison the frames, brakes, and suspension were quite primitive. Merkel's had mono shock rear suspension in the early 1900's. No other manufacturers really took up the idea until mass production in the 70's. That being said I still ride a tuned Banshee and grin like I was a kid every time. I think that's what really counts, the fun factor.

@@TheKarsino Not sure why you couldn't ride an H-1 Triple. I have had a couple of them and I was able to grind the rubber off the ends of both foot pegs. Anything you spend a lot of time on will not seem overpowered. After putting umpteen miles on a CBR Honda and it will not feel overpowered, a 1000 Gixxer is not "overpowered" after riding one for 15,000 miles. I started off on a Suzuki RG 125 and loved it and when I passed my test I bought a Suzuki RG500 and done it up in the Castrol colours, it was stupid fast for a 500cc. The only thing is both of them had habits of snapping off the power valves and either spitting them out the back of the exhaust or the piston that caused the problem hit the flopping around power valve and the engine just has a rapid unscheduled disassembly and costs you an arm and a leg in money to fix or it seizes and you have a rapid unscheduled trip to the hospital. Both dangerous bikes for those reasons but as the old man said “there are old riders and there is bold riders but there are no old bold riders”. I ended up putting the 125 engine in a go kart so if it ever seizes then I’m on 4 wheels at least but it’s stupid fast as well. Still got the 500 but it scares me.

@@cskalle1213 yeah the RG series power valve system is not very good, I mean it works and it’s like a turbo kicking in they just take off but the way Suzuki designed this particular 2 stroke system is inherently flawed. They are to close to the lip of the piston when they start to open at mid to high revs they strike the lip of the piston and snap off. All other makes like Yamaha or KTMs and Honda work great no problems at all. You can’t even grind a little of the power valves because of the way they mesh in the exhaust port. @@cskalle1213 there should of been a product recall because it’s very dangerous so it’s a safety thing and they should of changed the cylinders because the RG 500 uses 4 RG 125 CC cylinders to make a 4 cylinder 500 CC engine. I don’t know how many people got hurt by this power valve problem but it must of been many around the world. The safety wasn’t the same back in 1991 though so god knows if they have had any law suits because of it. My friend is a machinist who makes his own race engines so I’ve got him on the problem. Remember the RG and RZ 500`s when I was apprenticing back in the 80`s. The biggest complaints where they are a little sluggish and sputter a lot. The tune up was as fallows, change the plugs and take them out and beat the pss out of them because the pssy that was chugging around town was killing it. Ran like a top after that LoL A lot of fun in my 20's

Thanks, By the way the motorcycle in the thumbnail is the Tularis, a twin cylinder Polaris snowmobile engine mated to a Ducati gearbox. Made by Dr. Rob Tuluie in Minneapolis Minnesota. There was a Yamaha Zuma(the older 2 stroke type) in my neighborhood not long ago, that thing could do close to 90mph!! I can't remember what size it was, but couldn't be more than 50-80cc, fkn amazingly loud little scoot. unfortunately he crashed it street racing, and I have no idea what happened to it after that. I don't think we've seen what 2 strokes are capable of yet.

It's the Tularis created by Dr. Rob Tuluie (an astrophysicist still working on F1 cars, I think) Polaris engine with Ducati transmission, one off frame, hand laid carbon fiber. A sweet bike with a good amount of coverage on the internet, well worth looking up. The frame and engine/swingarm plates were made by a friend in the shop I still work for. I helped Rob at the track years ago when he was doing really well on his Tulda, a Honda single in much the same style.

@dutchsailor6620
@dutchsailor6620 9 ай бұрын
That is equal to saying that Harley produced bowling balls (AMF). The RR350 was designed build and raced by Aermacchi from Italy and was basically a copycat TZ250/350 with modified carters, carburetors and ignition. Port timing of the cylinders were equal to their Japanese counterparts. Many TZ parts could be dropped in the engine without any changes. Walter Villa collected four world titles on these machines. It might have had the name of HD on the tank but it was an all Italian show.
