Only buy what you will be wearing regularly. I would say a daily and one special piece but only if you wear them. Watches are BAD ‘investments’ right now 🍭

One of the best advice I got from Manny Koshbin is don’t buy a luxury watch until you have ten times the price of it in your bank account. When you purchase such, you have also added cost of maintenance and unexpected repairs that might be needed in future.

I understand Manny’s advice but that’s overkill. If most people did that - they would never own one. The 15-20% rule is enough - especially if you make even more with multiple streams of income. My investments pay for my luxury watches. It’s many different things you can do to afford easily and responsibly. You don’t need a million in cash to afford a cheap 100k watch. My first luxury watch was 100k put down 20k - financed 80k. Then traded up to more expensive watches.

I now own an AP watch. It’s not hard at all especially if you’re earning 20-30 k with little or no debt and extra streams of cash flow. I have been able to diversify and make continuous profits with the aid of my Professional Investment_ advisor/analyst.

Rm is all hype. They want to service the watch every 18 months to make sure that it will be waterresistant. Service takes 9 months. So you only have your watch 66 percent of the time. And service is not cheap.

The drop in price doesn’t mean that you should buy it. Reason being is, they were extremely overpriced. And now that they’ve come down a bit, they’re still extremely overpriced. So the logic behind buying something because that was EXTREMELY overpriced and is now still way overpriced is nonsense. These watch dealers KNOW the prices will continue to drop and they want to quickly sell these watch to avoid taking an L especially with the RM’s. I paid 3800 for my sub back in 2006 and 14.5k for my two tone Daytona back in 2012. And now I’m seeing those watches fetch for ridiculously high prices. The watch market has completely lost touch with reality. Go pay 20k for a Batman if you want. No one’s stopping you. Just know that you’re still way overpaying for it.

This analogy does not apply to Daytona GOLD pieces or Bluesy Submariner ! Would i spend 20-30K on USELESS watches that an AD will FORCE me to buy BEFORE i can buy what i like - NOPE !!

I agree with you. I bought my sub at an AD during the craziness for list and would NEVER pay over list for ANY watch. I've was waiting on my Batman for a year and got my call last week and picked it up from my AD. Just be patient and ride this lunacy out. These grey market dealers are all sleazy. Everyone needs to stop buying from these dirt bags who collude with crooked AD's.

okay peak prices arent accurate my friend, may be handful of sales occurred at such price but definitely wasnt the case that pandas were selling for 50-55 or pepsi in 30s. please provide more accurate info.

The drops will continue, cash injected into the economy blew prices up and now the cash is being taken out of the market. The complete reverse so a reverse in prices will continue. Economics 101

I really dont like when these dealers make claims when they have no idea what they are talking about: The RM 65-01 does not have some insane high level movement, it actually has a modified version of the Vaucher VMF 6710 with a rattrapante module on top. Its very similar to what you would find on a $30k PF Tonda Chrono or a 35k Czapek FdC. Lets not make it sound like RM 65-01 has some magical machine inside. Its just an outsourced movement, at 10x the price.

Exactly. They are wasaaay overpriced and not worth the price at all IMO. Paying even 40 thousand would be insane and the movements do not warrant a price that high. Some of these guys prey on ignorance in consumers who have no class and no clue.

I just don’t get paying 375k for a RM even if that is half price…it’s just insane to me no matter how good the movement is. To put it in perspective I could buy the Lamborghini I want brand new. On top of that, it doesn’t even come with a metal bracelet. It’s a strap…sheesh

Those watches all hype. Dealers, whose business is to make money, will tell you a bunch of BS just to make a sale. Those watches remind me of the phrase "the emperor has no cloths"!!!

Just an fyi, the movement is a modified Vaucher VFM 6710 which cost 5k at wholesale price. Thats what you get in a 350k watch. And people complain about Hublot having cheap movements relative to retail price. RM is Hublot x 100

The benefit is portability. You can take that watch anywhere in the world and get cash right away. Imagine trying to pack 375k in your suitcase😂

I see all watches to come back to retail. First, hype has gone, Rolex will continue to make a million watches annually, second there are plenty alternatives for the watches mentioned above, third watches are not the things you really need, and last but not the least, global economy Is not going to grow as it used before, moreover there will be more wars, not only economical but also like that between Russia and Ukraine

When the hype's finally over, the true market scenario will unravel and people will realize there are more so called "hard to get" watches out there than people would really want to keep for personal use or even collect. Only a few "niche" watches will be able to maintain high premiums due to rarity but the rest will fall below retail. It will then be back to the old days when ADs will be selling at a discount and the grey market will follow accordingly.

There's only so much money to go around the world. All the old money watch collectors have their heavy hitters, it's only idiots like me that has a made a bit of money that was looking to buy the first AP and Patek. Yes i realize that collectors may want to flip for watch they want but i'm saying there's only so much incentive to pay a premium. Idiots like me looked elsewhere and some collectors i'd assume just elected to keep their heavy hitters rather than trade for another one. You don't have to have a crystal ball to tell if the markets gonna drop, there are always subtle tells.

If watches are still going to drop “alittle”, then collectors better wait “alittle” more. Basic economics, no one buy, price drops. It’s a slippery slope if you can see it. Your patience may net you most watches at retail, or even below retail. Hype is over, game over
