Stockholm is a beautiful city in the summer, but many people want to experience it in winter as well. What is there to do in Stockholm in winter?
In this video I present the top 10 things to do if you're visiting Stockholm between December and March. Snow is not guaranteed, but it will definitely be cold, so make sure you dress appropriately for the season!
The things listed, including the various places I mention, are the following:
- Ice skating in Kungsträdgården, a very centrally located park
- Skiing at Hammarbybacken, which you can reach by tram from Gullmarsplan
- Check out the viewpoint at Monteliusvägen, on Södermalm. You can walk there from Slussen. Also, I mention Skinnarviksberget - it lies a 10 minute walk to the west of Monteliusvägen
- Rent a sauna and take an icy plunge at Hellasgården. Website: hellasgarden.se/en/aktivitete...
- Winter kayaking at Vaxholm. Website: kanotcenter.com/tours/winter-...
- Walk in one of the many parks in Stockholm. This video shows you clips from Rålambshovsparken and Kronobergsparken, and I mention Vasaparken, Humlegården, Tantolunden and Royal Djurgården as well
- Swedish fika is a great thing on a cold winter's day! Especially if you're here around semla season. I'm showing you the centrally located cafe Vete-Katten. Website: vetekatten.se/en/
- Warming up at a spa is highly recommended. The places I mention include Centralbadet, The Nest, Selma City Spa and Yasuragi
- A tour to the archipelago in winter. The two biggest boat companies are Waxholmsbolaget (waxholmsbolaget.se/visitor-in...) and Strömma (www.stromma.com/en-se/stockholm/)
- Finally, I of course have to recommend visiting Stockholm around Christmas time! In the video I mention Christmas markets at Gamla stan and Skansen, as well as animatronic displays outside of the NK shopping centre. Also, you might want to check out Winter Wonderland at the Gröna lund amusement park. For more info about Christmas in Sweden, have a look at this video: • Christmas in Sweden | ...

I was told by some Swedish people at my local Scandinavian Cultural Centre to never visit Sweden in the winter because I would turn into an ice cube. I did visit back in summer of 2021 for 3 weeks. I visited Uppsala, Stockholm and Vimmerby because I loved Pippi Longstocking as a kid and wanted to visit where Astrid Lindgren grew up! Sweden really is a beautiful country and I got to practice my limited Swedish language skills with refugees who couldn’t speak English. Had some really fascinating conversations.❤️

Your delivery always makes these so wonderful! "There's nothing more Swedish than fika, except--possibly--depression." I'm glad I wasn't taking a sip of anything at that moment because it would have ended up all over the living room!🤣

I'm so glad to see you again. I'm sorry I haven't been able to visit the channel for a long time. You really made a lot of effort for this video. You must have spent days capturing the daylight. I think we need to prepare an event calendar to visit Stockholm. Because most events happen at some time of the year, and if we miss it, it is necessary to wait another year. Nobel Week, Christmas, and Semla sadly. Stockholm still offers all kinds of opportunities to have fun, no matter when we come. Thanks 3-S Vagabond, for becoming the Stockholm tour guide again for this week. See you until the next adventure. I hope I will have enough time to watch your missed episodes :)

I've wanted to go to Sweden my whole life. It is the Winter that I am attracted to. I hate the heat of Australia. I finally got to visit Stockholm last year but it wasn't Winter. A dream of mine is to experience a cold Northern Hemisphere Christmas with snow. Unfortunately, no place can guarantee snow, apart from the Arctic, I guess. I am trying to figure out the most likely and picturesque places to narrow my list of possibilities.
@ThreeStarVagabond
@ThreeStarVagabond 8 ай бұрын
Hope you enjoyed Stockholm even if it wasn't in winter! But yeah speaking of the Arctic - a significant part of Sweden is indeed above the Arctic Circle, so it's pretty much guaranteed snow up there. I took a road trip to Kiruna and Abisko a few years ago during Christmas, and there was definitely no risk of no snow. And plenty of cool activities there as well - snow mobile riding, dogsledding, ice fishing etc.

The Goths long stay in the Román Empíre made them adquiere Many aspects of the Latín Culture....Specially the Latín Language.....that is the reason why we in Spain were not influenced in full by the Gothic Language....though We still say YA....meaning JA... At Schools in Spain Young students have to learn in their History lessons...La LISTA de los Reyes Godos....the List of the Gothic Kings which is very long.....the Gothic gene pool is very evident amogst the People of Spain......Cataluña stems from the Word Gottalundia...
