Forcing dogs to figh each other is evil and seriously messed up, and letting dogs go for cats is also seriously messed up and evil

I've had 3 greyhounds, Crimmie and Cussie had to stay muzzled around cats and small animals but Oscar loved cats and rabbits ( I had both) and his best friend was my cat Freddie Teddy, they went to Rainbow Bridge 🌈 within 3 weeks of each other 😥

I've also has 3 greyhounds. They were all lovely with the cats. Now I've noticed that on several of the greyhound rescue sites they just say cat free home on all of them, instead of giving them a chance. It's really sad because many of them do fine.

@@suzannewilliam-james9744 I've been looking into Spanish galgos since before covid. They stopped flying at the beginning of covid for some weird virus reason but they sure need rescuing. I think one of them is going to be my next dog as soon as my covid foster fail is a little older and they're flying again. = )

@@suzannewilliam-james9744 The first dog I fostered was the third greyhound I had. I was his 4th foster home and couldn't pass him on. I had him from age 5 -13. The second dog I fostered is the one I have now. We bonded and she needed me. I'm better at kittens because I know they're going to homes right away. It's still a wrench when they leave though.

I had 2 female Akitas, and a rescued kitten Tabby girl, Celeste. Celeste used to lay on the tip of the ironing board and swat Crystal's and Sable's tails as they walked by. Never a problem. Celeste liked to sleep in the curl of the Akitas' tails.🥰🐈🐕🐕❤ My parents used to dog sit friends' male Schnauzer, Ricki. Again, never a problem. He actually used to follow Celeste around. Adorable!

The emotions a dog senses from humans, especially when it is around something like a cat, will play a huge factor in how the dog reacts to the cat, or whatever animal. If you are scared or nervous when your dog is near a cat etc.. , or vice versa, don't be surprised if the dog responds the way you "feared".

I have grown to hate pit bulls. Period. I and my cat had to exist with 2 of them for a couple of years. Both of them liked people but HATED HATED HATED any other animal. While there I witnessed a chicken being murdered and was told the male had murdered a cat prior to me living there. My cat and I were LITERALLY in a caged room - with a security door being the only thing between the "killing machine" (the male) and us. Fortunately, we both escaped with our lives intact.

Aurora, my husky mix, is best friends with my kitten. She was almost 3 when I brought him home, he was only around 3 weeks, and they have been BEST FRIENDS ever sense. They love to play with each other and chase each other around. It’s so cute to see how much they love each other. 💕

OMG, those samoyed puppies were sooo cute!!! I've never had any problems with my dogs getting along with my cats, and I've had a lot of different breeds and mixes throughout the years. Among them being pit bulls. I've had pits for over 15 years and had never had an incident. Right now I have 1 pit and 1 chihuahua left and they are all best friends with the 8 cats! (maybe they think they're out numbered) LOL.😸

Our Doberman, Klio, was wonderful with all our cats. Even when one cat, Lynyrd, would take Swats at her all Klio would do was let rip with a very stern bark. RIP Klio, we will miss you forever.

Hehe my terrier-poodle Buddy was such an angel he was amazing with the cats, we had to carefully introduce him to our cats over several months with a muzzle initially cuz his hunting instincts had him wanting to eat them, & occasionally chased them just to be naughty when he was younger lol, but as soon as he learned the cats were a part of the family member he was so wonderful with them snuggled with the oldest cat all the time🥰💕

I can verify the Jack Russell Terrier isn't cat friendly. We adopted one from the Shelter, such a cute personable little guy Shelter staff said was good with cats. Within two days he'd ripped open a 2-inch gash on my cat's neck. We had to get emergency vet services where (thankfully) the cat survived. Dog went back to the Shelter. When staff argued with us about returning him, I showed them pictures of the cat's wound and told them to call the vet who treated her. At the other end of the scale, we had a 75-lb German Shepherd who melted into a puddle of goo over kittens (we rescued orphan feral kittens for many years). She was the best foster mom ever! We kept two from our latest rescue: one who fell in love with the dog, and the dog was head over heels right back, and one kitten who took a *very* long time to tame. The dog housebroke them both - that's how attached the kittens were to the dog: when the dog went out for "business" kittens went, too.

I have never liked pit bull terriers and in my eyes they are the ugliest of all the dog breeds. But I do know of a few that are very friendly.

We had 2 beagles and a cat. In 15 years the beagles and the cat never got along. They all antagonized each other. The cat was the oldest and was accustomed to hanging out in the high places. We also didn't let the beagles in our bedrooms so the cat had safe places to hang out. Life was an adventure with the 3 pets and super entertaining. I miss all three of them.

Get a cat first then get a puppy. It might be a little rough for the puppy initially but it will work out in the long run.

Samoyed, we had 6 cats when we had our Samoyed he lived in harmony with them for 12 years before he passed away from cancer. He was loving with one cat in particular she would lay beside him and there was never, ever any problem. We had the cats already and Carter was just a pup so perhaps that works best and he never ever chased them. I think a lot has to do with correct introduction and care. I know other people with Samoyeds and they too have cats with no problems. I cannot speak for the other breeds listed. 😊 PS That's me with him in my profile picture.

I had a Siberian Husky for 18 yrs and he loved my 🐈 cat!!! But they were raised together....There are some exceptions to the rule....

We had a Siberian who was the exception to the rule. He loved our cats. We had a couple of other dogs who provided an outlet for his energy, meaning that when he wanted to curl up with the cats, they were quite amenable to it. After all, he was big, furry and warm. They would engage in grooming sessions, the husky licking the eara and heads of the cats, as they'd try to hold him down and bathe him. The cats hated the Staffie, however, and one of them even went for his throat a couple of times, while they merely tolerated the border collie cross.(she was still a young dog) But the Siberian -. He was their best bud.

My cat Spunky was raised around and got along really well with my step dad's Blue Healer/Cattle Dog Dotty. She was really chill though and was too obsessed with following my step dad around and finding little nothings on the floor for us to throw for her to pay any attention to the cats. I do miss that dog. My cat absolutely hated my grandma's hyper Yorkiepoo Willy though when I tried to watch him.

My Jack Russell was best friends with all the ex feral cats I brought in my home, he was so gentle and the cats would literally wrap themselves around him and sleep on him while grooming him! Got plenty of photos and videos showing how beautiful their relationship was 💕

I had a domestic short hair cat that had a pet dog - my dog actually (that cat was also mine). They loved each other. As for ownership, really, I was theirs.

I've had 2 Pitties, 2 Akitas, Schnauzer, GSD, Poodles and Bischon they "LOVED" their Cats. The only dog that I've owned that DIDN'T like Cats was a Chiuhauha

My mom had a cat who was only half a year younger than me (I'm almost 19), who died less than a month ago. Whenever we had puppies (Mom used to breed European bloodline Dobermans), Macgyver would teach the puppies to respect cats by smacking them when they tried to roughhouse with him. He did this for 15 and a half years before he finally got too old to care and started using claws on the four newest dogs we got since we moved. Thankfully, all of our dogs respect the cats (Tag and Russet are lovers to each other, Ayla doesn't interact with them much, Doc would rather cat watch than interact, and Sass gets the claws when she gets too close).

We got our 2 dogs a puppies and they came from a house where cats would play with them. Our cat had a very different idea. In the end we trained our dogs not to go in one room. When the cat went in that room he always had an audience. The cat also trained the dogs to leave him alone to the point where he could walk in front of their noses and only wag their tails.

Interesting! A have a Boxer and she is very quiet and shy, everytime she sees my cats she starts to do those cry like sounds because shes afraid of them 😹

I've got a schnauzer/some kind of terrier mix and let's say she's the bane of my neighbour's cats. Poor little kitties can't come to say hi when my patio's door is open. I've tried my best to correct the situation but it's been fruitless, she's been multiple times scratched very close to her eyes by the cats but she does not care, she feels the urge to chase them and corner them. I just simply don't let her out alone, and the cats seem to have understood and they stopped coming to say hi. It's very frustrating cause there are MANY outdoor cats in my neighbourhood.

We had a pit bull who was a great friend to our cat - they loved play fighting (instigated by the cat) and always slept together. Perhaps the exception to the rule. 😆 We also had a blue heeler that was best friends with one of our cats. I guess we've gotten lucky.

ive had a beautiful female husky for the past couple years and she has been super friendly to every cat i own/owned except the times they tried to play with her and irritated her but aside from that she's not aggressive at all towards them so maybe its not like that for all huskies

We've got a Blue Heeler and an Australian Shepherd. Our cat has lived around dogs it's entire life. Between Fuzzy's intelligence and 20lb size, he has a lot of fun getting the dogs worked up then escaping out of reach. Once in awhile they manage to corner him. All it takes is one hiss and they scatter. 😆 Seriously, I agree that under normal circumstances, any herding dog is probably a poor match with cats unless they are raised together.

Beagle 🤔 🧐When I was 11 my father found an orange kitten lost by a construction site and brought him home I named him junior he grew up to be about 13 pounds he was intact. When junior was about 2 to 2-1/2 my Dad brought home a chubby Beagle puppy my little brother named him Snoopy. Junior and Snoopy were buddies sadly junior only made it to 6 years old Snoopy made it to 12 years.

Cattle dogs. I had one and he got along great with his cat sibling. They would share the back seat of the truck. He never tried to herd her. My son had a beagle and he got along great with his 2 cat siblings.

I have 3 cats and a chihuahua and they get along well for the most part unless my girl chihuahua overdoes the playing then they don't put up with it lol but they get along decent ❤️‍🩹🥺💓💓

I specialize in training and rehabilitating pit bulls prior to adoption, and almost all of the pitties that have been in my home for training have gotten along well with my cats. The only ones that didn't had lived exclusively outdoors their entire lives, and some were known killers of other animals (including other dogs) because if it. So, not exactly ideal examples of the breed type. My own pit bull is actually bullied by my cats. They're furry little d*cks with no common sense. 🙄 He could crush them in seconds if he didn't know that that would displease me, and that it wouldn't go well for him, but he'd be justified in doing so.

dang it, I have 2 australian cattle dogs and 1 mutt/mixed breed dog (and the neighbors have cats who run and jump on our roof and walls and) they absolutely hate them... whenever there is a cat moving around my dogs just go crazy also I have a cockatiel (the 1st ACD came to us with 1 year and she didn't get along with the cockatiel, unlike our previous dogs did, because of the prey drive and jealousy she just stares like "I wanna kill that"), and I don't think a bird + dogs who hate cats + a cat would get along, and that's just sad... I really wanted a kitty....

I have a jack Russell Terrier mix breed { I believe }and I have a kitten { breed not sure } I thought my dog's gonna chase the kitten but it chases the dog instead 😂

Chiweenies, chiweenies, chiweenies!!! My brother has one. Bless him because he's the cutest thing on the planet, however his small prey drive is unreal! I've got to lock my cat up everytime he comes to visit, and even then it's like he's hyperfocused on the doorway he knows my cat is in.

I had a Boxer he was fine with our cats n the kids brought home maybe a week old kittens daughter would place all the kitties in front of him, n said " Watch the babies" n he would. Think all could get along if raised right n loved. Nieces pittie loves kitties too. N daughter has a beagle gets along with cats. It depends . N 2 younger cats watched the turtle I had. They're both 9 yrs old now 💜❤️🙏

I had 2 cats first then go my lab/pit mix he never chases his cats and when he gets annoying my cats turn and smack him and he calms down Now I have 4 cats and my dog he chases cats when he escapes but oddly enough never his cats

Pitbulls are the best breed of dog for families with cats. They're super intelligent and feed on the energy of the owner. Easily trained and loyal to your command. They know who is and who isnt allowed in the home. IMO there is no better breed of dog. In mv experience with any breed of dog, it comes down to the owner and their intentions. A mean owner has a mean dog. A loving and respectful person has a loyal and loving dog. My brothers Rottweiler sleeps with his daughter and attacks anyone who shows her any type of agression. My cat would never do that for anyone.

No, many have zero prey drive. Pugs, Pekingese, Maltese, ShiTsu, Goldens, Labs, Cockers, Chihuahuas and many others can be great cat friends. I've seen 3 beagles be best friends with their cat.

I disagree with the Pitbull terrier’s. My husband and I had a cat then got a Pitt puppy and they grew up to be the best of friends, until my cat must’ve scratched her one to many times that she became scared of our cat. Although I will say she wasn’t the best around baby kittens having killed 2 of them playing to rough.

This is utter nonsense and about routines, my cats know what time it is. They know they eat at 2pm and they make it known at exactly 2pm. Not to mention, you can't judge a person based on the animal they prefer. Are all rodent lovers vegetarians. Do all reptile lovers shed and smell.

You are so very very wrong about staffies ans pit bulls. I've had pit bulls and staffies all my life 58 years I've had kitties around all of them the dogs loved their kitties. I have a torte cat and a brindle doxiebull they love each other.
