Let's be honest 2021 has been a really strange year! Within the magic community there have been some great magic tricks and some terrible magic tricks. In fact I would go as so far to say that some of the BEST magic tricks ever created were published in 2021 and some of the WORST magic tricks ever created were published in 2021.
One thing we always strive to do at Magic TV is to warn magicians about terrible tricks that have been released. Obviously opinions on magic tricks will always vary but we can all agree that some magic tricks should never have been released. They have been published mainly to line the creators pockets with cash and the creators really don't care about magic as an art.
In this video we countdown the top 10 worst tricks of 2021. These are the worst of the worst, truly terrible routines that absolutely suck. If you see a trick on this list then keep away from it, far away from it!

I have to say, this is your funniest post of the year--unintentionally so, I guess, because you were just pointing out the truth, but I found it flat out hilarious! Happy New Year! (This post does give me hope, though. Clearly, in spite of my total lack of experience and creative insight into magic, I, too, could become a creator! I was thinking about creating linking donuts! I know what you're thinking but I'm really thinking out of the box, here, as I decided to forgo the usual torus-shaped ones and go straight for the jelly filled ones. Then there is my masterpiece--linking rib eye steaks. You grab two rib eyes from different spectators plates, put them together, and then toss them back on the table completely entwined. It's... err... eye popping and so far I've only worked it out with Kobe beef, so it's only good for high end restaurants. I'm still working on the real magic: which is getting invited back after I destroy $400 worth of beef...)

I have several Tenyo effects that I love and I use. It is sad when they come out with crap. Part of the problem is that they have set themselves up where they HAVE TO PRODUCE PRODUCTS.

Thank you Craig! I would love to know how much of this crap was sold. I would also like to know what distributor stood behind this garbage? These distributors need to take responsibility for this crap. Especially since I know of so many great magicians that I buy from personally that can’t get someone like a Murphy Magic to buy their stuff.

Craig...thank you for this....i recently saw an ad for Nielsons chop tea cup...a gaffed cup. Wooden ball snd sponge for finish about $60...my wife was going to treat me...i said not for $60..the entire performance is about 1/2 minute

Merry Christmas to you and your family. This was an absolute joy to watch. A couple of things come to mind about Julio Montoro and Peter Eggink. The reason they're bringing out tricks is so can justify to have themselves filmed from differen angles and have the internet viewers get mini orgasms because they are soooo good looking. Seldom has a pair of narcissists command so much air time. (excluding Trump of course). As far as Npad goes, isn't Smagic a reincarnation of sorts of SansMinds. They were also notorious for bad products and a lot of diy.

Trio is a tricky one. Yes incomplete and a large number of outs. But actually the props that are included are well made, and an experienced performer can take them and turn it into a very strong and fun piece of mentalism. The premise of being able to predict a freely chosen celebrity, animal and fruit (and if performed well, this will be the audience experience), with all predictions shown in one image, is I think a very good one. But they really should have included everything needed to perform, and considered alternative ways to present the piece.

This is what dealers should do...quit selling any piece of crap that comes out. In addition to N Pad, Portal is another similar product that has been put out that is expensive but suffers the same problems of N pad.

As someone relatively new to the magic scene, I'm absolutely amazed at how much shit magicians are willing to buy... And keep on buying even after getting royally ripped off! In no other hobby/industry do you see this amount of crap put out that's LITERALLY unfit for the intended purpose.. People seem to be fine with buying this stuff and then just sticking it in a drawer when they realise it doesn't work. I guess that's what the companies and relying on, even if they get a 50% return they are still more than cashing in 🤦🏼

Amazing list! I'd add some slightly more controversial choices: 1) How to read minds by Ellusionist for an offensively b/s marketing campaign and a product that couldn't live up to that level of hype 2) Majority of Alakazam's release schedule for being such a disappointing re-hash of past glories 3) The Selfie Trick by Lior Manor for being an over-priced, self-satisfied piece of grandad non-comedy that wouldn't garner so much as a smile from an audience of real comedy fans. I expect most people will disagree, but isn't that the fun of worst lists?

A bit rant-y. But everyone loves a slam, and it is your show, so, throw rocks. I forgot who put it out, a penetrating chapstick. Bought it thinking internal collapsing gearing mechanism, No, a sliding tube paper. What a waste of money. Only the Turner Crib Ring of mem stack on a wristwatch crystal a worst idea. An item you can't even give away. Great show; laughed my ass off.

You should do Honorable Mention bad tricks for the other 30-odd tricks that didn't make this list. Not as long as this one, break them down to around ten tricks per video and keep the commentary shorter. You'd be doing the magic community a favor. Think of it this way: we now all know not to buy the ten tricks in this video, but what is there to warn us about Trick #11?

Another amazing list. I would like to add move ink, and a big fuck you to every asshole who lied to us this year and took our hard earned money. Just talking around the community we are on to them. 2022 we as magic buyers will be much smarter. We won’t be falling for this crap. Listen close. If the trailer is shotty it goes on a no buy list straight away. If you dodge questions on a forum the product goes on a shit list. The Julio’s and Peters we are on to you. Do better this year. I challenge you to make us love you guys. Prove us wrong. Release just one product with a single trailer of a single live performance. We won’t be filling your wallets unless you fill ours with useable awesome magic that’ll make us money and give us enjoyment. Added note. An amazing year for the channel here.
