Funnily enough with Dark Doriado, if you use her in tandem with a few low level vanillas and Enchanting Fitting Room, you have the chance to get up to four free special summons off of a two card combo, a normal summon, and an army of garnets

Yuya has such a weird deck. He has some majorly game-breaking cards, especially once he gets all the Dragons near the end of the show, and eventually has, like, 12 different Boss Monsters he can use. But then his main Tuner is Tuning Magician, which gives your opponent LP while forcing you to take damage, while the last few arcs has him constantly use Smile World during Duels, despite being a trash card.

To be fair, Twilight ninja kagen came out during a time when ninja's weren't playing as a flip deck. It was the original ninja's that were flip monsters and the new ninja's have flip effect but between those periods the strat was spam hanzo out as much as possible and setting up your ninjustsu's for interpretations

Slight note with Rain Bozu: I believe the intention with it was to play in a deck with a LOT of pendulum monsters, seeming as those get added to your extra deck upon being destroyed. Thus, your extra deck would slowly grow beyond the normal limits and allow Rain Bozu to gain more attack. Still not good, but at least makes sense.

PM captor WAS for the longest time the ONLY zombie pendulum, however that is no longer true, since the release of Daidalatant the Liquid Giant

I swear these worst lists are so much fun! I like brainstorming ways of making the “worst” cards into GREAT cards. Also, I think we can use Pendulum monster cards as a base for porting over MAXIMUM monsters from RUSH. Have normal monster effect on the bottom text while having the MAXIMUM effects in the top box.

Dark Dorado is actually really good as a tech card for fortune fairy's (not the best deck I know) as long as you put fortune fairy chee on top of the deck you can get a guaranteed two free special summons that you can use to link or keep them on the board for your miracle stone.

Something I think is overlooked with Performapal Smile Sorcerer is that both the level 8 summoning issue and the need for higher than base attack points can be completely solved with Soul Pendulum. Increase your high scale 8 to scale 9 and then all pendulum monsters thereafter gain 300 atk per counter on soul pendulum. I use this combo quite often in lower tier Master Duel as nobody ever really expects a draw 6 off of one monster effect.

Dark Doriado's pendulum effect seems handy for a charmers deck.

Magician of Hope is definitely not a bad card. It’s a generic rank 4 that summons a monster from the hand; its problem is that the effect was balanced too much by negating the effects of the monster it summons.

Dark Doriado's only really reliable way to resolve her effect is to summon her with enough material to make Saryuja on board and then draw all 4 of the monsters you just stacked the deck with. I've seen meme combos that do this to turbo out stuff like all the barrier statues

Prior to the release of Darkwing Blast Twilight Ninja Kagen was pretty important to the Ninja archetype. Ninjas didn't have many options to special summon their ace monsters like Hanzo and Getsuga, so the pendulum cards had to carry the entire archetype.

On Magician of Hope, it would also benefit from all the other pendulum magicians if it was Dark since they support Dark Spellcasters in the archetype. (the Zarc cards especially, not including the new support coming out.)

Rain Bozu doesn't specify face down, so more dead pendulum monsters also make a difference between the two decks.

Cool video! I think it’s worth mentioning that another downside of PM Captor is its scale of 5 since 4 and 5 are considered the worst scales a monster can have.

Performapal Smile Sorcerer can still be saved if : 1) they make a new Smile pendulum monster that is Scale 9 (and either a Magician or an Odd-Eyes) 2) Make more support that actiually further encouraged you to play Smile world (either by playing specific monsters or cards). instead of just being "just more ATK just because"

Dark Doriado only exist for lore reasons. Such as finally mastered the dark attribute as before she mastered every other attribute except dark. Dorado is part of the Charmer lore.

Frightfur Meister actually enables some funny stuff in Fluffal. You can use it to tribute a monster and summon Lilith, Lady of Lament from the deck, who can then using her effect get you a copy of necro fusion. Setting you up to possibly make tiger or cruel whale on the opponent’s turn for an additional piece of distruption.

Idk if this has been an idea yet for a video but have you ever considered the question of “Which type of extra deck card(Fusion, Synchro, Xyz, Link) has the best cards and could be considered the dominate extra deck card type?” Just seems like it would make A very interesting video and debate within the community.

I think if more zombie pen monsters exist, PM captor might get better since zombies benifits a lot from self-mill. Which means those pendulum monsters will end up going to the gy. And who knows, maybe a zombie monster or continuous spell/trap (like a zombie world retrain) that makes pen cards go to the gy might come out one day.

Dark doriado is often used in ftks. Skull dread can draw all 4 of the cards placed in the deck. Giving you a new hand.

I love pendulums, it's by far my favorite summoning mechanic but man, konami really hate pendulum cards, pls konami give me a new GOOD pendulum archetype, instead of just supports for other archetypes, pendulum literally had so little time in the meta, gone destroyed by master rule and even relevant pendulum cards are not used for the pendulum mechanics but for any other reason! Justice for pendulums!

Gonna have to disagree with you again here. If you are not playing the pendulum ninjas in Ninja, your making a mistake. And in fact, Kagen is extremely useful, making super easy OTK with Direct attacks with Battle Ninja Meizen. Plus, if you actually know how to play ninjas, its extremely easy to search the scales and repeatedly fill your hand wjth ninjas, making the swarming ability granted by the pendulum summon very powerful. Also the other Ninja Pendulum is evem better, as he can very easily SS himself. The truth is actually pendulum in ninjas made PERFECT sense. Because back then we had dedicated pendulum zones, and they did not occupy your backrow, which freed all the space for Ninjitsu Spells/Traps. The problem NOW is that we lost pendulum zones, and now the pendulums can clog your backrow.

Dark Doriado would work well in a charmers deck.

Another bad thing you missed about PM Captor is it’s protection effect has to activate, which means the monsters would still be susceptible to bottomless, torrential, etc.

Frightfur Meister looks like a card that can be heavily abused; Since it's rather easy to find a Level 3 or 4 Edge Imp and a Poly with Frightfur Patchwork. So any Fiend Fusion Deck that plays Level 3 or 4 might want to use it as a Searcher/Extender. OR and that's rather disgusting it can easily cheat out the DARK Barrier Statue or Protector of the Sanctuary to prevent the opponent from Special Summoning anything but DARK or to draw cards. Heck you can even search for Gren Maju Da Eiza. And when going for a Fiend Fusion Deck, I'd say Dark World would profit the most (it's the only Fiend Archtype I can think of right now that uses Fusions outside of Frigthfur)

I am surprised that Hallohallo is not on the list. Which is good, because every time i need a tuner monster, especially a dark tuner monster, i can use him. Plus his dice roll ability is fun, and can be useful in different situations.

Magician of Hope is MVP in Magikey Abyss Actors though. With only one AA in hand, you can XYZ summon it, use its effect to bring out the AA, and just like that you now can go into Hyper director and use its effect to bring him back to the field, then link it off for Super Producer!

Frightfur Meister is not what I would call a bad card. It’s not supposed to be Fluffal/Frightfur pure support, it’s supposed to let you access ANY FIEND MONSTER IN YOUR DECK if you have a corresponding level.

I think Kagen was not evaluated properly because while a big theme of the ninja archetype is taking the opponent by surprise with flip effects they can also be played more aggressively. Before the new support the twilight ninja cards that supported the archetype focused more on swarming the field using their pendulums jogen and kagen with shogun being able to special summon 2 ninjas from the grave with chunin and the lv4 twilight ninja being protection and the ninjitsu arts cards mostly worked with face up ninja monsters so pendulum summoning out a ninja face up was not a draw back. Not to mention Hanzo gets a ROTA effect off of being flipped summoned AND special summoned so being able to pendulum summon hanzo allows you to grab ANY ninja monster from your deck and shogun can be tributed with 1 ninja so if you have at least one other ninja in your grave yard you can special summon hanzo again for another ninja then go into a link or XYZ. The 1000atk pump also helps push for damage especially with jogen out as it gives piercing to all ninjas. It also helps that you can just slap shogun, chunin, blue and red dragon ninja down with pendulum summons as well.

17:46 That variable is only in part controlled by your opponent, since you can fill your Extra Deck with Pendulum monsters by destroying them. The problem is just that you need to destroy upwards of ten Pendulum monsters to get a moderately sized beater (or the admittedly decent 1000+ ATK buff; ATK modification is not worth this effort but boosting your whole board by 1000 is nothing to scoff at, if you can still build a decent board while filling your ED this way).

Awe no love for Twilight Ninja Kagen. I played this in my ninja decks before the new support. Its definitely not good in the flip variant. The only thing I disliked about it is that you cant pendulum summon it from the extra deck since Jogen is scale 1.

Here is my use of PM Captor on duel links : have the totality of the deck be lvl 4 pendulum monsters with scale of 3 and 5, that way you can always pendulum summon into a xyz monster. After activating a xyz effect materials are sent to the graveyard, and you get them back with PM Captor. Useful as a farming deck

At least Rain Bozu is heart meltingly adorable. Still think Top 10 Extra Deck Pendulum Monsters would make for a neat list. Just about the only one I ever see anyone use is Clear Wing Fast Dragon and that's almost entirely because I have a Speedroid/Wind Synchro deck in Master Duel.

I don't think Frightfur Meister deserves his 3rd place. His Pendulum-Effect has a huge amount of potential search targets. For example you can summon Lilith, Lady of Lament, who in turn can search Necro Fusion, which synnergizes very well with Frightfur Tiger and gives this pure Go-2nd-Deck a way of going 1st.

I found that dark doriado effect was best paired with heart of the underdog and the promo normal monster pendulum cards like the dragoons of draconia

Giant Skyhawk would be appalled by you putting Frightfur Meister on this list.

Unrelated comment. I think the performapal slime sorcerer would be used in your combo by purposely destroying a card you control to special summon him and search slime world. And then at the end of your long combo you activate slime world in order to activate sorcerer effect to draw a bunch of cards to set some backrow or draw into follow up for next turn.

Are there any other cards like Magician of Hope ie a crossover between two protagonist ace monsters that didn’t interact with each other? It’s a shame it turned out so mediocre because the idea is cool on paper.

Smile universe is actually a fun card, I had a nurse burn deck with it in it. It was a fun gimmick deck It had one of the sorcerers in it given it could be searched.

There is one aspect of rain bozu that you missed, and thats the fact it can also count pendulum monsters that are in your extra deck. Doesnt make it good just a little better than you gave it credit for

Trivia about Pazuzule: both, it's name and art design are based off of an ancient apotropaic (protection from the evil) demon deity of the Mesopotamian religion called Pazuzu. He was depicted as the furious winds form the southwest, storms and even blight and pestilence, hence he was respected and feared for he was considered to have an obnoxious appereance and being dangerous. But, ironically enough, it was for those exact reasons (and also because he was the King of the Demons of the Wind) that people would resort to him to ask for protection against other demons and malicious beings (specially from his consort and rival, Lamashtu who used to attack pregnant women and cause other disgraces) by carving statues of Pazuzu and other ornaments in tribute to him at the entrance and inside of their houses, since Pazuzu was so ugly and terrible that nobody wanted to deal with him. And you can see the ironic and contradictory nature of Pazuzu, reflected on the effects of the cards, jus that it's inversed: while the original god whom the card is inspired from, is supposed to be frightening and nasty but ends up serving a good use for people, gaining him popularity among the mases; Pzuzule is supposed to be good for granting protection and its ability to madulate its scale; but, ultimately, it ends up being avoided and rejected due to the functioning of the card's effects. Also, even the art reflects it: the card counterpart looks like a toon, making it silly-looking and something not to be taken seriously, in contrast with the original god.

Performapal Smile Sorcerer is not a bad card in the Performapal/Odd-Eyes Deck, the only issue is about the card being level 8 in a deck with the highest Pendulum Scale being 8. If we had more Performapal and Odd-Eyes monsters with a Pendulum Scale 10, the deck could use more options. The draw effect of Smile Sorcerer is a final effect of that turn, you mostly use it to get Erradicator, Pendulum Area, Hand traps or other cards that you want to use in your opponent's turn. It depends about how you use it. Yuya's deck is not awful, people just don't use it and think it is a bad archetype because of the anime plays that was not well developed '-'

P.M Captor I have found use for thanks to its draw from GY effect, since XYZ mats go to GY no matter what they are. When playing, you work with what you have. EDIT: I am glad I came back to this vid again because of Rain Bozu. I still stan for that card. I still lack a better alternative in Duel Links that does all that it does. It synergizes with what I do to make combos work. I don't have full efficiency but I do have a SHITTON of luck!

Glad the Qlis aint gettin here. It may hard locks on summoning Qlis, but the 300 atk boost/reduction really matters (i managed to push OTK with 8.6k damage, thx to the boost). Sells out to be not a worse pend

Here’s an idea, top 10 worst monsters that suffer from summon sickness.

I find it kinda sad how badly the introduction of Link monsters ruined the Pendulum mechanic. When pendulum zones were separate from your spell/trap zone, it gave them a lot of options, and pendulum summoning from the Extra Deck didn't have to be to the Extra Monster Zone or a zone a Link monster points to. Granted, Pendulum monsters have some decent support, in Pendulum Call and half of the Odd-Eyes archetype, so they aren't made *very* inconsistent, but they're made much less desirable because of the Master Rule 4 (and even more by Master Rule 5) changes. If Master Rule 6 doesn't bring back separate Pendulum Zones, and introduces new Pendulum support, I'm probably going to cry. As someone who plays D/D, my Spell/Trap Zone is clogged up as it is, and is made an even bigger problem with the amount of Pendulum monsters that are required for the deck to function.

Few scattered thoughts prompted by the video: - Most of the cards on the list read like Techs that nowadays are just too gimmicky or too specific to be viable in competitive play. However, for more casual decks and meme decks, some of those could be fun. - I had never made the connection between Magician of Hope and Utopia before this video, and now I'm forever cursed by the fact that they didn't add a simple "this card is always treated as an Utopia card" somewhere in its text. - It pains me that Pendulums nowadays aren't really competitive in the TCG, especially as Pendulum Magicians are still one of my favorite decks in Master Duel and even there it's still a rogue deck at best (at best!). Hopefully some of the new cards in Age of the Overlord will help.
