Great list...although I would have Baylor as no.1 over Barkley for several reasons mainly like 8 finals appearances..Honorable mentions go out to Bernard King and Sydney Moncreif

Thanks for your input! I was having trouble deciding between him and Barkley. But chuck had an MVP and his impact and passion even after he retired continued to show. But yes, Baylor's Finals appearances are definitely noteworthy. King and Moncrief are also deserving of recognition. It's a tough call with so many legendary players.

@@HoopLists True about Chucks impact after he retired is noteworthy ..but the Title of your video..reads Top 15 greatest players So I would assume we are referring to them as players..not as broadcasters..and Elgin Baylors accomplishments far exceeds Barkleys There stats are close Baylors stats 23ppg 13rpg, 4 ast pg FG% 43 FT% 78 Barkley 22ppg 11.9 rebs, 3.9 ast pg FG%54 FT% 73% But Baylor lead LA to 8 finals appearances to Barkleys one. Baylor has scored 55, 64, 63, 52, 51, and 71pts and never came in out of shape. Just becasue Baylor wasn't a celebrity brodcaster doesn't mean his impact after retirement didnt show. He was VP of operations for Lakers, Executive of the Year in 2006, He served in active duty in military in 1961 - 1962

Yes, he's got some great numbers and achievements but his lack of MVP held me in putting him on the first since some of the players ranked below him had an MVP award as well. But I respect it if he's your number 1. Like I said, it's hard to make these rankings since it could be subjective. Thanks for the input tho!

@@HoopLists Baylor played in an era with Wilt Chamberlain, and Bill Russell The MVP award was always shared between Russell or Wilt for 10 straight years. Bob Petit won it twice Cousy won it once in 1957 the year he won chip with Russell and the Big O won it once in 1964. Neither Baylor or Jerry West (the logo) won the MVP award..because the MVP award was awarded differently back then than it was in Barkleys era. Up untill 1961 the MVP award was always awarded only to not necessarily the best player on the best team that won the chip but the most valued player, (hence the term MVP) despite how well others played during the season, because they didn't have an NBA finals MVP to issue yet (Bill Russell Award) until 1969 ..Baylor could have very easily won MVP within those years had he been on a championship team. The year Chuck won MVP he was not better than MJ, he was just more valuable to his team and the politics of constantly giving the award to MJ was controversial ..much like the Nash's second MVP over Shaq situation, With all due respect I just don't think 1 MVP is equal to 8 finals appearances. I'm 74 been watching bball since the Cousy era and I can tell you for fact that the criteria for the MVP awards was not the same back then as it ws in the 90's the MVP award began in 1955 and up until 1964 its criteria hadn't been clearly defined yet

Thank you for providing such insightful context about the historical context of MVP awards during Elgin Baylor's era. It's fascinating to consider how the criteria for MVPs has evolved over time. While I still value Charles Barkley's MVP achievement within the context of his era, I can definitely see your point about Baylor's remarkable impact and the different circumstances surrounding MVP selections back then. It's a testament to the richness of basketball history and the many factors that contribute to ranking players. Your perspective adds depth to the discussion, and I definitely appreciate your input. I'll certainly consider this in the future(maybe after a few years) when redoing this video and hopefully add some new faces. Like I said, I was having a hard time deciding between chuck and baylor. Thanks for your time!
