I have described many different types of solar collectors for hot water supply, space heating of a house, pool water heating and other.
My 3rd KZfaq channel: / @cheapsolarheat3630
№ 15:
This is number 15, and the link to this solar heater is: • Sunbag Solarheizung - ...
The heater has a concave mirror and this absorber from evacuated tubes which convert solar energy into heat for hot water supply and space heating of a house. We understand that the sun rays are focused by the concave mirror on the evacuated tubes. In addition, the tubes receive some energy directly from the sun.
This type of solar heaters was tested by me. For example, I made several similar solar heaters on the basis of this absorber from a cheap polymer film. The results of their testing have been described by my 3rd KZfaq channel, and its link is: / @cheapsolarheat3630
№ 14:
Our number 14 can be made from an old satellite dish. It is obvious that here, solar radiation can create a high temperature which can cut an aluminum can and other.
We understand that a similar effect can be achieved not only with a concave mirror, but also with a lens. For example, it could be a similar lens which has a diameter of 74 cm. Or it could be a Fresnel lens. Or it could be such aqua lens.
Typically, such lenses or mirrors are used for cooking. But some people are trying to install a Stirling engine to produce electricity. Or it can be an absorber which heats water for hot water supply or other purposes.
№ 13:
These solar heaters use old plastic bottles around dark pipes or hoses. Adding some types of dark or reflective surfaces can significantly increase the efficiency. Typically, these systems are used for hot water supply.
№ 12:
This is number 12, and it is a relative of these solar heaters with number 14. It is obvious that the number 14 requires constant movement in 2 directions according to the motion of the sun. But the number 12 has a simpler and cheaper design because these solar heaters must follow the sun in only 1 direction, instead of 2.
My solar station has a similar design, but it does not require following the sun from morning to evening. The principles of such solar heaters without following the sun were described by these two videos of my KZfaq channel. I built this station almost 6 years ago for space heating of the house and for heating water of its pool.
My KZfaq channel pays a lot of attention to our number 12 because I see great prospects for this type of solar heaters. I am trying to reach the cost of our solar heat less than 1 cent / kWh, and it is several times cheaper than the cost of heat from natural gas. If we achieve this goal, such solar heaters will be interesting for district heating, similar to this solar station which gives heat to one of the Danish towns. If our heat with high temperature will be cheaper than 0.5 cent / kWh, we can create similar solar stations for the production of maneuverable electricity with a price of 3-5 cent / kWh.
That is why my station is testing these cheap mirrors on the basis of reflective polymer films and on the basis of free strips of glass mirrors which are wastes of various glass workshops. In addition, I am trying to find even cheaper types of mirrors, and for example, my previous video described these experiments. Another of my old videos described the features of this mirror which is a stainless steel sheet.

I've seen several of your videos and enjoyed them very much. Useful information, explained in a clear and simple way, combined with actual test data, (not "recycled" data from other people), and relevant links where appropriate. Thank you.

9:23 perhaps a sheet of thick foam insulation to act as a lid can be hinged to the side, it can also have foil inside to direct even more sun onto the black tank when open. when closed at night it will keep more heat in the box

Very interesting, thank you for sharing. It would extremely cool to have a list of this systems with some setups, their cost and how difficult they are to setup. Obviously those which use recycled materias should be less expensive, but not every body will be able to find such materials.

Great innovations. What are your thoughts on a collector integrated under a PV panel to produce warm water, but also to regulate the heat under the panel, which may increase the efficiency?

Hi, what would you do during the summer when the water (and pressure) increases rapidly, and also during the winter, when it is going to freeze? I think leaving a gap under panel is enough, so there is air flow. Its "free" and nothing more expensive is really effective.

Thank you for dragging all this information together.. One thing you may like as a counter point......put in " sunfoil may " and you will find a PV panel on the roof of a Subaru car in Australia.,which is perceived to drop consumption by 15%........of course if the engine was pre heated in " your " climate., the advantage of the " on coke " cycle could be vast on relatively short distances..

I am hoping to do solar heated water with antifreeze plus a small solar PV powered pump, with thermostat, all to keep a biogas generator around 110 degrees F. Several barrels could provide cooking gas and a methane powered electric generator.

This is really interesting and so useful, but can you slow down the speed of your narration and add a few pauses in your speech so that one can mentally 'digest' all this information? It's like listening to someone on the betting tote at a horse race meeting! I've had to stop watching, as there is too much verbal info crammed into such a short time, I'll return and watch the rest later because it is worth viewing - so inventive, some great ideas. Something like this, like a good single malt, needs to be savoured and not rushed. Would it be possible to provide a transcript of your narration so that I and others can read and understand this at their own pace (the generated automated 'closed captions' of 'KZfaq' don't quite ''make the cut' when it comes to a text translation quality - maybe do this on a website? If not already done and, if you have done so, let me know with details of a link). Keep up the good work but have a thought for those who don't think as fast as you!

Did you know a hand sized glass of water 100 feet high will boil at the top,but not because of the sun on the 100 feet of water,but because of the difference of pressure exerted between the top and bottom of the column of water .and at slightly different atmospheric pressure's, the equalisation of the out of equilibrium solid water mass,creates heat

So when you say glass of water 100 feet high...do you mean a vertical tube 100 feet high filled with water and the water at the top boils... If so that's fascinating...
@garethbaus5471
@garethbaus5471 Жыл бұрын
That doesn't work, you could use the vacuum formed at the top of a closed water filled tube with a drain in the bottom of that height to boil water, but not an open topped glass.

Solar Power and heat are supplementary forms of energy which is great for energy conservation. They will never replace conventional fuels since they are not able to be brought on demand or when there is no sun, especially in areas the farther you are from the equator/or live in areas due to large cold water bodies (ex. Lake Effect) aka cloud cover (Syracuse or Seattle are good examples in the USA).
