Six Flags Darien Lake is a large theme park in Corfu, New York. This park has been passed around like a hot potato, but the park built up a formidable ride lineup featuring 8 different roller coasters including the prototype Intamin hyper coaster in Ride of Steel. Then there are some interesting flat rides and no shortage of water slides at the attached Hurricane Harbor water park. This video looks at this park's best 15 attractions, past and present.

A solid list. It's nice to see someone else think so highly of Predator. I admit I'm biased since it was my first "big" coaster but I always find time to get a lap or two on it during my Ride of Steel marath- I mean, visits to SFDL.

Mine too.. I was 8-9...back then it was just Viper, Predator and i think Mind Eraser was the newest. I am sad seeing Grizzly run clips in this vid because that was there as well. It was shut down damn near every time I went there but did still get to experience it.

This is the only six flags ive been to but I love it. May be small and missing a lot of common six flags rides but i find it beautiful and love the line up. I also oddly liked the boomerang and especially mind eraser. I found both to be smooth and forceful, and i got no headbanging on mind eraser. Also hot take of mine, i prefer tantrum to ride of steel

Boomerang was superfun although i hurt my neck pretty bad. Also, I may not agree with your hot take but i think it's respectable. Also it's the only SF i've been to! A bit (not too much but a bit) underrated. I just wish it had more money, it has so much potential with all it's land and being in the middle of nowhere.

Probably the 1st or 2nd most underated Six Flags park? It definitely has a collection of actually really good rides that not really any other 6 Flags parks have. A good boomerang, woodie, hyper, eurofighter, arrow looper, and even SLC. That is surprising for such a park. All they are missing is a drop tower, not an S&S one but a normal free fall one.

I went for fright fest this year and missed out on a few rides. Tantrum was definitely a bummer to miss but it’s at least a reason to go back. I really enjoyed the park. Viper was a really pleasant surprise, I thought it was pretty smooth and a ton of fun. The near misses on the helix were really cool and I love hangtime on corkscrews, which is why I’m also an Anaconda fan. It’s my top ranked arrow looper at the moment, but there are a ton that I haven’t been on that would likely overtake it, especially Tennessee Tornado.

Great video! Ride of steel has an odd layout, but it looks like a solid Intamin. This park has a solid lineup though, tantrum, predator, and Moto coaster all seem like decent supporting coasters.

Motocoaster is especially fun! As it's only launch coaster, it goes faster than you think. It has some very fun turns and you always feel like you're gonna fall out (in a good way.) So yeah!

Great video! I was bummed out to hear that you got to the top of the ride of steal so fast though. My daughter is excited about riding it this year but we told her the best part is the slow travel to the top. 😂. Hope you’re having a good summer buddy.

I grew up going here every summer, before it was a Six Flags. The Predator was my first grown-up rollercoaster, followed immediately by the Viper. I love both, but the Predator will always remain my favorite. Even that whiplash part!

The way I rank the coasters is 1. RoS 2. Viper 3. Tantrum 4. Moto Coaster 5. Predator 6. Boomerang 7. Mins Eraser Great video and I can see why you switched the order around!

@@CanobieCoaster yeah back has some good ejector on the first drop. All the inversions hit better there too. You really get dragged through the corkscrews as well. I’ve appreciated it a lot more the last two years

Its 😢sad they dont take better care of the attractions. My wife and I camped here 3x each summer when we were teenagers. When i see its condition now I could cry. So many great memories of this once beautiful park.

Mind Eraser > Flight Deck. They updated the train harnesses for Mind Eraser in 2022 and it's a lot more comfortable now.

I love your videos. But I do have a question about the predator, what do you mean riding a wheel seat? I always right in the very front to avoid a rest of the day headache

Wheel seat is the back of a car. On these seats, your butt is directly above the wheels, making it rougher. Compare that to the front row where your butt isn't over the wheels (your feet are).

i've been going to this park since 1997 and the Viper has always been my favorite coaster, they should add a new coaster where the vintage cars are located & new coaster in the old "theater" building next to viper+bring back the Loony Tunes+DC Comics theming to the park in future seasons (just my opinion of course).

I grew up about an hour away and used to go a few times every summer- probably haven’t been in over 15 years and incredibly I don’t recognize 75% of these. A shame Grizzly Run is gone. Glad to see Predator so high. Wooden coasters are underrated and it’s definitely a good one. Thought I had heard Ride of Steel had been shut down but glad that’s not the case.

The main attraction for Western New-Yorkers is the PAC and all the concerts there. Most of the times I have been there was because I was going to a concert and the park ticket was included.

I feel like Mind Eraser is actually underrated now. Last year, I banged my head around so much even more than on Raptor (Cedar Point). But now, I tried it again this year and it looked much safer, better and was much less shaky. I think SFDL did some serious repairs due to the bad rating. So I recommend most coaster enthusiasts to try it again. I'm not sure though, maybe I just had a good experience. Also, I do think Cannonball Run is slightly better than Mister Twister, but I think top 3 waterslides at SFDL are 3. Brain Drain (I hurt my back both times I rid it, although still fun.) 2. Wahoo Wave and 1. Tornado. As someone from Rochester, NY I have this as my home park so I know quite a bit about it, but also I'm new to the coaster community, so feel free to correct me in the replies. Thanks for reading!

I still think they need to give Predator the RMC treatment. Maybe the coaster doesn't need it as much as some people might say but the park as a whole needs them to do that as it would be a very beneficial addition for the future.

Imagine riding again a coaster at Six Flags Darien Lake that Canobie Coaster would say: This placement is contingent upon a ride in the front row. Up there, this coaster is fairly smooth and tolerable. But if you ride in a wheel seat, it has the potential to really rough you up. That allowed me to enjoy the ride's good layout. The first two-thirds have strong airtime and it's extra sweet because it's often paired with laterals. Few rides offer as many instances of laterals and airtime simultaneously. Predator is still operating as is, and Mind Eraser is still operating with the old and standard Vekoma SLC trains. I would like those two coasters as how they currently run. I think those two coasters were considered by many to be rough rides. For you, imagine trying again to ride both. What do you think?

Would you rather Six Flags New England or Six Flags Darien Lake. Both are fairly smaller and underrated parks. For me I personally love the one-two punch of Superman and Wicked Cyclone at SFNE.

The predators seat belt was not even tightened and I asked for the guy to tighten it, but he just ignored me and left off. The Lap bar wasn’t helping either, it was 2 feet away from my stomach. I had to put my elbow on the lap bar to not fall out, and I swear if I had my hands up I would have fell out.

@@CanobieCoaster river rapids are gone and half the slides are not working. It’s opening weekend and I was extremely disappointed as I was excited based on this list alone! You did a great job, they did not!

@CanobieCoaster Went there last year. They only pay life guards minimum wage and only had enough lifeguards in July for lazy river or water slides. The coasters didn't ride smooth and only had 1 cart going around. Overall it's pretty sad and two water slides were down because of pumps broken. They really need to put more money into darien lake and no new roller coasters in forever and depressing park to go to.
