Havels ring is a must. I find myself using the wolf ring a lot. Being able to poise through enemies attacks makes playing so much easier.

I love the variety of rings in Dark Souls. The Ring of the Evil Eye is definitely a favourite of mine and one I always go for (very cautiously) every playthrough.

My personal picks are: Havel, Cloranthy, Cursebite, Bloodbite, Rusted and Fap

Fog ring and slumbering dragoncrest ring together = sneaky sneaky. My two favorite rings in the game

My advice with some PvP background: Arrange your inventory to have all important rings beside each other and learn how to quick swap them, example: quick swap from Wolf's Ring to Darkwood Grain Ring to flip out of danger

Technically the Covenant of Artorias is the no 1 ring, since you can’t finish the game without it. But you did mention it at the end. ;) I find the Wolf Ring useful in the early game, as it’s easy to have your poise broken (especially when you’re swarmed by those damned hollows). The Hawk Ring is brilliant for taking down enemies from a distance without aggroing them. I’m glad you found an argument in favour of the Tiny Being’s Ring, as I’ve always regarded it as the most useless one.

I find myself picking up most of these rings on almost every playthrough so clearly we’re on similar wavelengths, but I have to disagree with a couple of them (and add some of my own) The Tiny Being’s Ring isn’t good in any way shape or form. If I’m helping a brand new player through the game I might tell them to take it as their starting gift, but even then I’d suggest replacing it as soon as they find anything else. +5% HP might sound useful, but it really isn’t. If you are reduced down to less than that and live then the ring saved you, but how often does that happen? Otherwise the ring does literally nothing. Something like the Ring of Steel Protection that will save you some HP from every physical attack is infinitely better Havel’s Ring is good, but I wouldn’t put it on my list of must haves. If you want the massive amount of poise and defence that comes with an armour set like Havel’s then you might as well embrace heavy rolls, as even with nothing in your hands you need a whopping 27 Endurance just to medium roll with Havel’s Armour and Havel’s Ring, although stacking it with the Ring of Favour and Protection can help. You could use Havel’s Ring to easily medium roll with a medium set like the Silver Knight Set, which gives less defences but still decent poise, but in this case I would instead use what is in my opinion a much better ring, the Wolf Ring. The Wolf Ring gives almost as much poise as the Silver Knight Set, but you can still light roll and you don’t have to invest into Endurance at all. Of course you will have less defence this way and both options are perfectly valid but I value light rolling more The Ring of Fog and Slumbering Dragoncrest Ring are two rings that I can’t go without, and I’m very surprised to not see them here. Combining them trivialises a lot of encounters but just using either of them on their own can still be incredibly useful The last ring that I’m surprised to not see here is the Spell Stoneplate Ring. The Ring of Steel Protection is undoubtedly the most useful of all the +50 defence rings, but the Spell Stoneplate Ring is a close second as 3 of the 4 lords have magic attacks. To be fair, I wouldn’t call it a must have, but it’s certainly more useful than the Tiny Being’s Ring Woo, that got a bit more wordy than it was meant to, I really can talk about this game forever lol. Anyway, I’d love to hear your thoughts on these other rings

The ring of the evil eye really helped out during my first playthrough. Course now id never need it :)

i think exp item is always worth it in every souls game, in ds3, you can make 288% more exp with all 4 items, this is really make a big diference, i always put the exp ring on and i remove it in a boss fight and when the boss die, i equip the ring of exp and the symbol of avarice to gain max exp

Something to be aware of: Don't ungrade xanthous crown if you want trade it for fap ring. I tried trading xanthous crown +5 but it didn't work. Maybe it was some weird bug or something but I didn't receive the FaP ring and was disappointed and confused.

All these must have rings are great, too bad you only have 1 sigle ring slot to equip them

The best ring in the game isn't even mentioned in this video. Favor and Protection? Nah. Wolf Ring. Poise is powerful. Heavy armor isn't good because of its defense. It's the poise. 40 poise for 0 weight. That's borderline broken. Grab the wolf ring, raise your max health, and enjoy one of the easiest pyromancer runs you've ever experienced. Combine it later with the Catarina Leggings to hit 53 poise and you can poise through multiple straight sword hits without flinching. The Knight leggings and gauntlets before that let you hit 54 which is enough to poise tank two hits from the dogs in the Capra Demon fight without flinching. Just ignore the dogs, bolt to the stairs, and focus all your attention on avoiding the only attack that matters on the way. Capra demon's.

fap and havel ring = easy NG fap and Hornet/Dark Wood Grain Ring = easy NG+ cuz in NG ur noob so u must put on some chunky armor to survive but in NG+ ur way more experienced so u can go with either fast OP roll or more backstab/parry damage

It didn't even occur to me there are 15 or more rings in dark souls 1 lol it's obvious and makes sense but Even though Dark Souls 1 is my favorite fromsoftware game a lot of the rings feel underwhelming or useless compared to rings or moon runes in later games. I guess later games just have usually twice as many rings as ds1 lol

Havel and fap are too good to wear anything else imo. Wish this game had 4 ring slots like the other 2 cause theres so many good options! They all unfortunately fall short of havel and fap😢
