Rick in season 5 was even more unpredictable and brutal than shane. Problem is Shane adapted way faster than Rick and rest of the Group.

He wasn't right about everything. He wanted to protect the group, but he also would abadon a little girl in the woods. While Rick made hard decisions Shane made the easy ones thinking he would keep the group safe.

@@alliii835 The Governor is far more charismatic and has more class. He met Rick face to face and alone in a barn with whiskey while Negan had to ride with his men for protection. Negan is a child compared to The Governor. You really wanna talk about impact? The Governor changed EVERYTHING. He killed Hershel which established an end of an era and forced the group to become the beasts which they were in season 5, having to survive Terminus. If not for The Governor, Rick and his group could've lived a relatively peaceful life in the prison. Even in gun fights, The Governor stands in the open and not behind cover like Negan. The only advantage that Negan had was his numbers. The Governor was a one man army and crushed walkers with his bare hands like nothing. Not to mention that Negan's arc was fucking boring and the saviour war even more boring. The Governor had better character writing and didn;t overstay his welcome.

@@cypressbbq the governer is not charismatic, charisma is a trait that makes you like someone, which negan had mastered, the governer was extremely easy to hate and his motives were substandard, he is just a really awful and psychotic person, but thats not the only criteria for a good villain, the governer met rick face to face? So did negan, 3 times, and the governer had his men there too, lets not pretend that the show has horrible writing to send the governer alone as if he is bulletproof, negan created the most tense episodes in the history of the show , and possibly tv, the only thing that came close to that was when the governer had hershel and michonne on their knees, and even then the reason that wasnt as suspenseful as 7x1 is because the governer is fightable, negan at that time was thought to be the most powerful man in the continent and maybe even the planet, and the way he demoralized our characters and made rick his bitch was something the governer could never do, if the criteria for a good villain was being psychotic and a “one man army” then beta and carver would be at the top of that list too, but no, there are so many factors and negan has them all ticked, not to mention the fact that negans arc being boring had nothing to do with negan himself but the horrible writing the show had during those seasons, even then, negan was such a good villain he still had some of the most tense and memorable scenes we’d seen, everytime he came to alexandria, his fights with rick during the war, as well as the finale of season 8, were all memorable moments of the show, bottom line is negan is definitely the best villain of the show, he had a much larger impact on the characters to the point where they kept him alive even though he committed monstrous acts, hes more complex and was much more scary, making him the best antagonist in the walking dead.

He wouldn’t be badass he’d just be an angry psycho who would eventually get the whole group killed by the Governor

The absolute level of delusion of Shane simps to try and pin this on Lori. Shane told Lori that Rick was dead. She was in her right to start a relationship and in her right to end it when she found out he lied. Shane being a violent simp for a girl with no interest in him is entirely on Shane.

@@Dutch329 exactly, Gareth was great and so was Owen, but to me Joe is the most underrated. Not the most compelling antagonist but his code of conduct and the fact that he’s the most realistic in this list makes him scary. Plus I feel like he’s basically a dark mirror for Daryl. He shows up right when Beth is taken, and Daryl could’ve became just like him had he not been reunited with his family

Owen was one that should have survived abit longer he had potential to be a good villain
