The "how do you balance career and family" question is a great question I wish they asked men more often. Are these actors good fathers? Do they play with their kids, help with the homework, act as good role models? When a male actor takes on a role, does he think how it might impact his role as a father? I mean, being a dad is a big deal, I don't know why men aren't asked about it more.

Because in patriarchal societies don't see it as a man's job, they see it as women's job.. It gives them the excuse they need when their relationships fail: "it's always a woman's fault".. We need a lot of work and advocacy to remove the patriarchy roots from societies..
@km1dash6
@km1dash6 3 жыл бұрын
@@eioneyerity4984 I don't know if that's true. Even in patriarchal societies, fathers play a role. Evolutionary speaking, fathers are often the ones who teach children how to fight through rough-and-tumble play. Fathers can help with a child's identity development, attachment, and other developmentally appropriate tasks, and this is true in the context of a patriarchal society. There are benefits to having more than one parent in the picture, and it would be interesting to know how men juggle work and family, because the answer more-often-than-not is they don't.

@@km1dash6 A patriarchal society is a society where men are considered the highest gender and they are the only ones with the power to make decisions. Women are considered inferiors and less than men, mostly just properties to pass from father to husband to give birth to more men.. it has nothing with what you mentioned.. fathers can be involved in their children's lives "as they should" without having to live in patriarchal society.. in fact, in patriarchal societies it is the opposite as i mentioned before..
@km1dash6
@km1dash6 3 жыл бұрын
@@eioneyerity4984 Going to your original comment, you said in patriarchal societies, it's not seen as a man's job, it's seen as a woman's job. I countered that by saying we know not all patriarchal societies have this view (that women are the caregivers and men go to work), and that this seems to only be a modern phenomenon. If we look at the 4 biggest patriarchal societies, China, India, most Muslim majority countries, and Europe (I'll lump them all together for this purpose), traditionally fatherhood is essential to the male identity. Being a good father meant being a good teacher, being an active ruler in the house (meaning you can't just be at work all the time and balancing work and home life is an essential part of manhood), and being a good role model to your children. Under that light, it would absolutely be a fair question in any patriarchal society to ask "how do you do all this and be a good father." We have records of men struggling with this, meaning this is something men deal with throughout history (balancing family and work), so it's not like this is something no one has thought of, and it's probably something men actually deal with.

I understand if everyone from the Avengers movies had been asked how they got in shape for the roles due to the extremely physical nature of the plots, but to single out Scarlett alone for that question is absurd. Why do people seem to believe that women and men's desires and interests to be so astronomically different? Because, at the end of the day, we're all human and we have more in common than just that.

Hi! Huge comic fan! The reason a lot of people ask these questions, especially to the women, is because of how women are portrayed in comics. That’s why you see nerds asking those kinds of questions. As a female, you need to understand where it’s coming from. Females in comics are extremely sexualized and seeing a female trying to get in shape for one of these roles would have to be extremely demanding. It’s an interesting topic to ask for strong women who are taking on extremely sexualized roles. Especially Black Widow. It’s not okay for the questions to be phrased as they are, but the sincerity is known through some of the interviewers. These women have taken on roles that are known to be sexual. They shouldn’t be offended when they are asked about how they are going to take on such a role. The guys aren’t as sexualized which is why they aren’t asked as much. It comes with the role you are taking on. Not everything is sexist. Somethings are deeper than people will make you think. And some of these things are genuinely interesting.

Erm...almost. Really they’re referring to their “wifely duties” assuming that a woman also spends time at home, cooking, cleaning, and looking after the kids. Basically assuming that this is the 1950s and that women are not capable of having a life while also having a career.

If a journalist is purposely trying to annoy, get a reaction, or just inept as asking an interesting question, give to them!!
