Four years ago on this same site, doing the same list it only got an honorable mention. So it has improved!! However, No.1 is unlikely...Friends (and Ross & Rachel) is a generation straddling global phenom, few shows (and fewer TV couples) outlive their time period never mind retain their power to engage an audience and for anything to top lists 25 years on (while setting the template for many of the first kisses that followed) is the true sign of Epicness and fully deserved No.1.

Amberger Helper I’m not sure if you’re alluding to the fact that the audience didn’t see them (in that particular season) kiss before they ended up in bed, but after watching them desperately attempt to find some alone time in Ross’ wedding, pt 2, and arrive back in Manhattan without getting their “what happens in London stays in London” last kiss, we DO see Chandler return to. Monica’s apt in order to make a ludicrous last attempt at making the upcoming kiss count as a “London kiss.” They end up in an embrace that could steam your tv. And, of course, this isn’t a “last kiss” as it merely leads to their romance, engagement, and ultImate marriage. Considering all the qualifiers mentioned by the woman making this video, there is no reason on earth that that can’t count as their “first kiss” (or, at the very least, the first kiss witnessed by the audience). And, as opposed to the completely staged “first kiss” bet Ross and Rachel, wherein somehow BOTH doors open at the Coffee Perk while steam literally rises up from the ground (presumably bc of the rain but come on, really?!) I felt much more involved or, let’s say, cared more about Monica and Chandler’s first kiss than Ross and Rachel. Yes, I’m biased bc I much preferred Mondler to Ross and Rachel, but the former couple, along w natural bumps one encounters when entering into a long-term relationship, were a true match whereas the latter couple was truly somewhat toxic. (Obviously others either disagreed and/or like that bc they were extremely, extremely popular; but I preferred the true friends turning into lovers turning into a marriage. JMO.)

And Your bias is both entirely showing and undermining your argument. It's great to advocate Mondler (who were great, and sweet) if you want, but there was absolutely no reason to denigrate the Roschel kiss to do so, and doing so makes it look like you're just annoyed about Ross & Rachel being spoken about, rather than say arguing over other couples on the list. Whatever you think of them as a couple, the Ross & Rachel kiss remains top of lists 25 years later, for all the reasons outlined...the long wait/build up to the romance, the incredibly well acted tension of the fight and their frustrations, the comedy of the doors (and why you find it weird that both doors open when there are two doors and are designed to do just that is strange), that guitar riff, and the intensity of the kiss / chemistry of Aniston/Schwimmer. It's a brilliant and long desired pay off and that's why it's so good. So please feel free to advocate Mondler all you like, but do so without the Roschel hate as it's hurting your argument, take a more positive attitude to your advocacy and perhaps in the words of Phoebe get out of the bitter barn and play in the hay.

Unlike Brooke Shields character (Erica? I believe) I DO understand that when making a tv show, everything is staged. Why you can not tell the difference between what I was attempting to point out - it actually APPEARED staged, as if Ross and Rachel were in a play - as opposed to how tv. normally works, wherein we simply feel as if we are watching a show about people’s lives, is puzzling. Or perhaps you simply felt WOW! Here’s another point I’ll make while taking one persons opinion and show her how stupid it was to write. I don’t care if other people disagree with my opinion. I DO care, when I clearly make an effort to state emphatically that this is just a personal opinion and point out my bias, not to hear from others about how “you are indeed biased” and I didn’t like your comment about Ross and Rachel. WTH do you think I made a point of saying those things? So that I wouldn’t have to respond to ridiculous comments like yours. Do you honestly think you’ve stated something brilliant and new? Sadly no. As you know, Ross is Rachel’s lobster. They start out as endgame, mated for life. And yet, through ten seasons of the show, the two of them could not make a relationship work. Here’s the difference bet tv and RL. Friends didn’t HAVE TO make Ross and Rachel “work” in the conventional sense. Similar to what they did at the very end of the show, they can simply put the two of them together, without any rhyme or reason, bc this is make believe. What the writers failed to see (or write) was a natural progression of the Ross and Rachel relationship. OTOH, they very easily managed to write up a natural progression for Monica and Chandler: first friends, then lovers, then living together, proposal, marriage, long-distance marriage, and finally (most importantly for them) children. How R&R managed to go back and forth numerous times, eventually have an unplanned pregnancy, STILL not get together, and only find themselves together at the very end due mainly to interference from their “friends” is something of a mystery. The show when Rachel’s feeling for Ross come out is one of the best I’ve seen on television. Their fights were true to life and heartbreaking. But the two of them could not manage (with the storyline they were given) to put in the work and MAKE their relationship stick. It doesn’t matter, though, how you view this. All I actually did was respond to another comment re Mondler’s first kiss. And why I felt their relationship IN MY FRIGGING PERSONAL OPINION was preferable to that of the couple that showed up on the list. Who honestly cares? It’s not as if you don’t have millions of other ppl who agree with your POV. Are you happy now, that you made me question what I had written? Have you achieved a lifelong goal? During this pandemic, I’ve had ppl come back to various comments I’ve written over the years but yours takes the cake.
