I seriously expected The Count of Monte Cristo to be on this list. Seeing Edmond Dantes kill Fernand Mondego was sweet. Seeing Edmond slowly execute his plan of revenge against his “best friend” to take back everything that was taken from him was even sweeter.

Big fan of the story and the movie. I would offer that the KILL was bittersweet, and that Edmond didn’t want to kill him in the end. His revenge was already complete, and didn’t require Fenand’s death.

It is one of the simplest and most pure motives imaginable. It helps that the hero can be anything from the purest and most honorable of Mary Sues to the darkest and most sadistic of anti heroes and still work.

Mortal Kombat Legends Scorpion’s Revenge is my Favorite of all time, and watching Scorpion getting his REVENGE is so SATISFYING😁 The REVENGE kill in that movie is the BEST.

True, if you want revenge scenes that are truly elaborate and dark "" I saw the devil" would be one of them. And a few more from Japanese and Korean films. They tend to get very dark and linger in your mind.

It's the one change DePalma made that I can get behind the most. In the book, she set off the sprinklers, starting an electrical fire on stage and then left the gym, locking it behind her and dooming her classmates to die. The movie version was way more visceral and visually dynamic.

Law abiding citizen is one of those movies where i agree that everyone should have died. They allowed a murderer to get away. By proxy they are all guilty of the same crime and must die.

Hugh Glass’ killing Fitzgerald in The Revenant deserves a shoutout. Hugh let karma take over, as Fitzgerald, the despicable sap, slid down the river to lose his scalp at the Pawnee’s hands

This is a good list. I love Tarrantino revenge kills. But, you left out some really good grindhouse movies. Such as I Spit on Your Grave aka Day of the Woman (1978 version), Ms. 45, and Thriller: A Cruel Picture aka They Call Her One Eye. There's some serious payback in those movies.

While it wouldn't make this list, the one revenge scene that has stuck with me was the church massacre scene in the first Silent Hill movie. At the time it was single handedly the most violent scene I ever witnessed as a kid.

That one falls short for me, because the bit with pyramid head throwing someone's skin at the door with a wet thud was too silly and goofy and ruined the vibe of the scene. Also, adding Sean Bean's character ruined the pace of the movie, because every scene he's in deflates the tension of the story. The big element of horror with Silent Hill is that once you're in the town, you're trapped until the end of the story and the dread and tension keep mounting. Cutting away to "what's her husband up to" keeps removing that tension and resetting the emotional vibe. It'd be like a roller coaster constantly stopping in a small room with soothing music and videos of cute kittens for 3 to 5 minute stretches.

The Crow is my all time favorite film I’ve watched it like a million times I know it line for line the best scene is on the church’s rooftop where he lets all the pain he held In onto Top Dollar “ I want you to have something I don’t want it anymore 32 hours of pain all at once all for you “ I was never so thrilled for a bastards death 💀 RIP Brandon Lee

I quite liked Keanu Reeves in Street Kings, role as corrupt cop Tom Ludlow, who hunts down the killers of his former partner played by Terry Crews. The irony being the same set of killers are part of his Police unit. The scene where the corrupt cops try to kill him, but he gets the drop on them by climbing into a grave (taken from an earlier scene) and then turning round and smashing the corrupt cop head with a shovel. He then proceeds to shoot his Partner before he can kill Reeves.

I always thought that Magneto's killing of the guy while Professor X was basically the guy would have been a much more poignant way for him to lose his ability to walk, a disconnect, if you will, of mind and body. And a way to link the two forever.

'Sleepers' is a great revenge film, especially Kevin Bacon's character. Also, as absolutely brutal as the film is, 'I Spit On Your Grave' is a savage revenge story.

This list wuz really memorable 4 me. 4 honorable mention, I would also throw in the final battle scene from Columbiana where Cataleya trapped the main kingpin who ordered her parents' death by sicking her dogs on him in that truck. Very cathartic & satisfactory if u ask me 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

I have 2. In Star Wars Episode 2 Attack of the Clones, Anakin wipes out the group of Sand People who tortured with mother. In Jurassic Park: The Lost World Daddy T-Rex feeds Peter Ludlow to his child, who Peter Ludlow kidnapped.
