Everybody remembers and talks about Mike Tyson biting Evander Holyfield's ear, but nobody seems to realize the fact that It was Holyfield himself who started the whole ruckus in the first place by continuously headbutting Tyson's face, particularly near his eyes region which made a deep cut and blood started gushing out of it, compromising Tyson's vision. Tyson even told the referee about that, but it appeared like the referee didn't gave any attention towards it and just ignored it completely. My utmost respect for Mike Tyson has always remained the same. He might be a "Bad Boy" Or a million things like that but he never was, never is and will never ever be a "Cheater" Or a "Spoil Sport."

He never was a bad boy. He was just a kid who got taken advantage of by some terrible, selfish and soulless people, after he had success and lost his friend, trainer and manager, who was like a father to him. Once he had some money the vultures began to circle. I always said there wasn't a man alive who could beat him in the ring but there was a woman who could and did outside of it and he married her. He was never the same after the head job she put on him. Still you've got to love his cartoons though and in real life he holds no animosity towards anyone, even the characterless, opportunistic a-holes who used and abused him. You've got to admire that.

You should have included one of Joe Louis’s KOs. There are so many to choose from. His brutal right cross knockout of James Braddock that punch Braddock’s teeth through his mouthpiece (this is not an exaggeration). His lightning quick left hook knockout of Lee Ramage in their second fight. The short right hand on Buddy Baer that spun the much larger man 360 to the canvas. Or, of course, his iconic first round destruction of Max Schmeling in their rematch. Joe Louis truly was one of the hardest, fastest, and most accurate punchers in boxing history (easily on par with Tyson) and I think he deserves a lot more attention in these types of videos.

Joe louis? Fast?😞
James Lough Жыл бұрын
@Darrick Malloy 😒I’m not talking about his footwork buddy! I know his footwork is slow! I’m talking about his handspeed. Most would consider Joe Louis to have some of the fastest hands in heavyweight history, comparable to Tyson and Ali. The man could throw a 5 punch combination in the blink of an eye.
Darrick Malloy Жыл бұрын
@James Lough but his feet were extra slow. I think floyd Patterson had quicker handspeed than joe.
James Lough Жыл бұрын
@Darrick Malloy Floyd Patterson is known for having the fastest hands in heavyweight history! Of course his hands were faster than Joe! His handspeed was superior to Ali and Tyson too! Also just because Joe’s footwork was slow doesn’t mean it wasn’t effective. Joe’s footwork was intentionally slow. He used it to subtlety step forward and backward to lure his opponents into counterpunches. His footwork was not designed to chase down opponents or dance away from them (like Ali and Tyson) but instead to lure them in, hence why it wasn’t fast.

Yep. Back in 89 I was in Army Boot Camp. Our drill instructor recorded a Tyson fight and allowed us to watch it in the next evening. He came in chuckling that morning giving us hell, so I assumed the fight was intense. The short version? It took us longer to get seated in the assembly room than it did to watch Tyson knock out his opponent. I'm pretty sure that fight didn't even go half way through round 1. I'm sure back then Tyson thought that was easy money.

Butterbean is tough, for sure, but I'm think the key to his knockouts is at least 50% the way he winds up. Yes, he swings for the fences, but the way he winds up almost gives the illusion he is hurt or winded, and putting his head down. So it seems to draw his opponents in. Then they receive the perfect storm: unsuspectedly moving forward into his full power punch.

When I was a kid there were boxing rings in the basements of many bars, and I used to like to spar. Never good enough to be a real boxer, but liked being around the sport. Every good boxer drew fans, and there's no expressing how exciting it was to see a local guy going for the big times, how great it was the odd time they actually won, how devastating it was when they lost. Those days are gone forever.

Best KO I saw was Mike "Hercules" Weaver on "Big" John Tate in the 15th round March 31, 1981 in Knoxville, Tennessee. Weaver, a well muscled but average-sized heavyweight trailed on the cards but caught Tate, who was big, with an uppercut along the ropes and literally lifted him straight up above the canvas. Even on television you could see it. Great story as sports stories go, but I don't glory in the lore of the ring anymore. I remember the great heavyweight division of the era from the late 60s' into the early 80's. But I also know the bad ends almost all of them came to. Even Ali. Some of them died in ignominy, at least one literally on the streets. "Men rise and fall like the winter wheat, but these names will live forever." At what price though?

Buster Douglas didn’t want to keep the Heavyweight championship. He didn’t want all the attention and media obligations that came along with being the champ. He basically took a dive in the Holyfield fight. Tyson’s uppercut to Douglas’ chin was a hell of a lot harder and more damaging than the counter punch that Holyfield landed on Buster. Douglas just stayed down even though he was wide awake and could have gotten up.

THE ANDROID GAMER More than anything he shook tyson's soul that someone could eat up his punches and be 'Just not ready to lose'. Also I'm a big fan coz he could have easily reigned the cruiserweight division and remain undefeated lifetime. But he chose to move up to heavyweight division. Sheer display of unshakable will power. There too he became only 2nd boxer after Ali to make 3 title defences. Legendary accomplishment!!!

I watched Sugar Ray's punches in 0.25x but it was still incredibly fast.

The most ironic thing about that Butterbean fight is that the wrestling crowd hated the concept of actual boxing matches in the WWE. The whole concept was a total disaster. Bart Gunn (The guy who received the knock out punch) won the whole tournament and got punished for it. This whole fight was designed to humiliate him, and after the fight we never got to see him again. The Brawl for All was a total disaster to the point where WWE never went back to that concept ever again. But that knockout punch was vicious, not gonna lie.
