Just a note to all the people saying you are coming to visit. Please please please be respectful. Hawaii is a beautiful place but it is NOT your playground. This is home for a lot of amazing animals, plant life, and people and it is not cool to be disruptive or rude in the name of getting a photo or saying you've "done something." Give the animals space, you don't need to touch them to have an incredible experience. Also know, that while there are so many beautiful things to see here, like anyplace, Hawaii isn't perfect. There are areas and times of day that are not safe. Do your research before doing an acitvity. Educate yourself on the culture and history before you come here. Please do not perpetuate ignorance. Leave things better than you found them. Be kind. Enjoy your stay :)

The 1 thing that these lists always leave out is to enjoy the beauty but respect the history of the land and the people. Its your vacation but our home. Clean up after yourself, show aloha, and enjoy yourselves 🤙

YES!!! 💯💯💯!!! these videos should come with a disclaimer. certain places are NOT talked about a lot because they just SHOULDN’T be. and always, always, ALWAYS KNOW before you GO. “mermaid caves,” which by the way is NOT it’s REAL name, may look super cool for the “gram,” but it’s not necessarily safe. be AWARE of the changing of the tides. people have gotten stuck in there and needed rescuing, which puts our local fire department at risk when they have to go in and save them. some have even DIED. it’s not a playground. same goes for stairway to heaven and china walls. KNOW what you’re doing so you can go home safe and ALIVE. (thanks for letting me jump on your comment, just wanted to share what i had to say where it would be seen the most.)

Your videos are fun to watch but please be more responsible with your recommendations. Living here for a year doesn’t give you an accurate account of what locals know and see year after year of how dangerous some of these spots can be. Time it wrong with china walls, and you can fatally get slammed against these rocks. Same with mermaid caves, time it wrong with the tide and how fast it can come up, you can drown. Information like this is exactly why tourists come here, who don’t know better are injured or die at these and other spots. Just because it’s beautiful, doesn’t make it safe. Give warning when warnings are due.
@ryant651
@ryant651 2 жыл бұрын
Good one K Kai. Very irresponsible to advertise without warnings. The power and currents of the Hawaiian Sea cannot be underestimated. Living here all my life I almost lost my life a few times to it. I've witnessed many tourist getting slammed by Hawaiian waves. People lose their lives here every year to Hawaii's Mountains and Sea. Tragedies at China walls and on mountain trails often makes it to the news.
@natalyazupan7236

My thoughts exactly, even around the Stairway to Heaven... The off-road tracks often involve trekking through people's backyards / private property.
@gddraxton

This is argument is filled with fallacy. These two are not responsible for safety. Any tourist can go skiing in Colorado or white water rafting in Arizona. That doesn't mean its safe. Streaming it, and recommending it, doesn't make you irresponsible. Also, hot take- 1 year is plenty of time to know a location's fun touristy things. I respect Local Hawaiians pride, but lets have some common sense here.

You should remove China Walls from the list. I rescue nearly 3 dozen people a week there. Multiple people a year die there from drowning. This is not a tourist attraction that should be advertised. IT IS VERY DANGEROUS FOR PEOPLE THAT DON'T GO THERE ON A REGULAR BASIS AND KNOW WHAT THEY'RE DOING.

I don’t usually enjoy videos like these ‘cause people often brutalize Hawaiian words, which I think is odd ‘cause Hawaiian and Spanish pronounce their vowels the same way...but anyway, LOL...another reason is a lot of people aren’t very respectful of our rules/traditions...and others give horrible and/or dangerous advice. But y’all did a wonderful job at all three of these points, and besides a few words, you both did really well and I particularly appreciated your use of the okina. 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽 😎 I was born and raised here and have lived here 44 of my 48 years, with those 4 years being spent in LA, Fresno, and then Oakland for graduate school. My family’s also been here since 1868, 3 years after our Civil War, so respecting the Native Hawaiian language and culture is really important to me, and it’s so wonderful to see how respectful you two are, and not just this video, I watched your Olomana and Kuli’ouou videos since they’re my #1 and #2 fav hikes, respectively. I know some people hear rumors that we hate all mainlanders, but that’s not true at all...whenever my friends have told me they want to move here, I just tell them, “be very considerate of others, and you’ll fit in perfectly”...and many of them have been here for over a decade and some stay here specifically for their kids ‘cause they feel safer here. Anyway, I’m glad y’all are enjoying your time here, and I love that you’re both exhibiting and spreading the Aloha Spirit! PS - Since I love that you’re an interracial couple since they’re very common here, here are some interesting stats about our country. Only 2.8% of America is mixed race...with only Alaska 8.2% and Oklahoma 6.5% being above 5.0%. Even California, which many consider to be a very diverse state, isn’t close to 5.0%...having lived in Northern, Central, and Southern CA, what I saw were a lot of different demographics living w/in the same state borders, but still keeping to their own people...like Chinatown, Koreatown, Latino communities, etc. Which is why only 4.0% of CA is mixed race. But here? A whopping 24.2% of people here are mixed...or, as well colloquially call them...”Hapa”, which is the Hawaiian word for “half”, though it’s colloquially used to describe anyone with 2+ different races. While parents of mixed race kids on the mainland have to worry about them fitting in, or being bullied...in Hawai’i, the vast majority of people will tell you they being hapa, or mixed race, is desirable. I actually did a poll on my Facebook, which is comprised of family and friends (I know all of them personally) and I limited it to people currently living in Hawai’i...and 83% of them see being hapa as something to be proud of. Anyway, you can go onto the Census website and confirm my numbers. 😁 Hope you both have a wondrous weekend! Love and aloha from Kaimuki! 😁🤙🏽❤️☀️

Thank you for taking the time to write this comment! We really appreciate it. I did not know Hawaii had so many people of mixed race! And we always try to pronounce the words correctly, but sometimes, it just doesn’t sound right when we say it 😛 we’re very glad that you like our videos, and that our caring for the island, comes across in our videos as well. Mahalo for watching and interacting with us 🤙 😁
