I don't think Steve Harris gets enough credit for his incredibly energetic bass lines. Can you imagine how exhausted he must be after one of their live shows? Yet he's been bringing for decades. That sort of explains his reputation of demanding that everyone else continue to bring it every single show.

From what I've heard his secret is that he plays with an incredibly light touch the entire time. I've never heard it come from the man's mouth so I can't confirm but it's the most sensible thing to me considering the stamina his songs require.
@tatsu8886

@@unamericano Nicko made a joke on the Flight 666 tour DVD "He doesn't smack the shit out of his strings, he tickles 'em! I have it on good authority he's a good tickler" and with how frequently Steve's strings are changed, combined with all of his equipment's settings, I'm inclined to believe he doesn't hit his strings hard at all. He usually plays very close to the bridge, and the strings at that position don't have alot of "Give" like if you were playing up past the pickups. He's a phenomenal player and one of my biggest influences as a Bass player.

I remember when Killers released in my tiny prairie town in Manitoba, there were two music stores in town to buy albums, one was a chain store in a the mall and the other was a family run business that also operated as a pawn shop, that indie store always had cool album cover paintings on their massive front window and they had the Killers album cover with a life sized Eddie, it was so cool. I'am a Progressive/PowerMetal music fan but Iron Maiden is my favourite bands of all time since 1990's...

Wow. Brilliant this. I once pretended to play the bass in a band, but was genuinely rubbish. Zero rhythm and wonky fingers. Must be so ace to be this good. 👏

I just ran into this video.....AWESOME to listen. Thanks! As a guitar player, whenever I try the bass I am just awed by the physicality that is needed in both hands. Talk about finger cramp!... Great Job, for that you got a subscriber!
