Hi John. That's a tough question. There aren't many non-hosted options on the market these days, but there are some, but I'd start with the features you require first then go from there. While we represent a couple, we don't work to much with on premise or hybrid PBX systems these days. Seems like the whole world is going hosted so that's mostly the puddle we play in. You mentioned that Nextiva and Vonage provide free phones. Does that also extend to replacement phones? If something on the phones stops working, will they provide me a free replacement? Or, if I find that I don't like a particular phone that I selected, will they allow me to choose from another phone that they offer?

ANY IP phone you get from ANY provider (that we work with or recommend) has a 1 year warranty that would cover software issues or hardware malfunctions. If your IP phones are on a rental, as they call it, those are covered for the LIFE of your account assuming it wasn't negligence or intentional damage to the phone hardware. Nextiva DOES support and sell Yealink phones now! Starting off with Yealink T33G and Yealink T46U. As far as I'm aware other Yealink phones are supported but yes you'd get them from someone else. It may be that Nextiva will add more Yealink phones as they directly sell these two for now.

Hi Steve. I don't know enough about Windstream's VOIP solution to really comment on it. Under normal circumstances we'd love to know more about it, but their recent bankruptcy has made it really tough for dealers and resellers like us to recommend because they've been known for NOT paying anyone for any services rendered or sales referred unfortunately; so I can't really comment nor recommend them in good faith. There is something to be said for a company that will promise compensation to the people selling their product and then "consistently" not deliver what was promised. If that's how they treat the ones bringing new business to the table for them, I'd be curious to know how they treat paying clients. But again, we can't recommend them in good faith at this time. If I buy hardware to set up a VoIP phone, will it work with any VoIP service provider?

Not necessarily now. While most SIP based IP Phones will work with the mainstream VOIP service providers, we ALWAYS recommend finding out if the model IP phone in question is able to be provisioned with your chosen VOIP service provider before you buy the hardware in question. Nextiva also doesn't let you send text messages using your toll free number which is a bummer.

We LOVE Nextiva, they are one of our top sellers BUT... total transparency, you are correct that Nextiva is one of the few providers that doesn't allow text messaging to/from your main phone number (local or toll free). We aren't sure why they have this limitation, but we suspect that in the coming months or year, their engineering team will hopefully find a way around this. I have wondered if this is a limitation because they don't want to get in trouble with SPAM laws but I'm not sure. Thanks for your comment and chiming in. 😊

So with netiva we don't need a crm/ats for our businesses or?

Well, yes and/or no. It all depends on what you're looking for in a CRM system. While Nextiva's built in CRM integrates better with Nextiva than most, because it's their software, I wouldn't compare it per say to some of the more "full fledged" CRMs out there. Even Nextiva themselves will tell you it's a very basic but functional CRM, but some businesses require something a little more robust and feature rich that Nextiva can integrate with via their APIs. IN SHORT: It depends on what you are looking for in a CRM. I'm more than happy to connect you up with one of our contacts at Nextiva to show you a demo of the CRM then, you can decide if it's right for you, or if you prefer another CRM outside of Nextiva to simply integrate with their phone system.

While we like Mitel, they need to catch up with the times a bit. We find that most people look for Mitel alternatives vs. go Mitel lately. I won't go into all the details of "why" but maybe we will do a future video talking about them. We DO represent them and can get quotes with special pricing for their Mitel Cloud Connect products.

@melanie lansing Also, I saw your comment on my other post in notifications about going from Vonage to RingCentral, then back to Vonage. I'm sorry it got omitted. We have been having a MAJOR issue with KZfaq where they just arbitrarily flag and delete random comments. The best part is trolls, pornographic material and random spammers are all over the site, but KZfaq CONSISTENTLY flags my loyal audience for normal comments related to telephone and internet. I've sent a request to support 5x asking for them to resolve it but well... it's Google and I'm sure they have bigger fish to fry. I just didn't want you to think I deleted your comment. Not at all. I value your loyalty and your viewership and support. 😊

Most people that we encounter in passing either use Vonage or MagicJack. We at RTG personally prefer Vonage's residential VOIP services over MagicJack, but some prefer MagicJack, because while the quality, in our opinion, isn't the best, the pricing point is a bit cheaper than Vonage.
