I spent 10 yrs in the pawn business, in 3 diff states. I know why dealers pay what they do. It's all about making a quick dollar. As in 'what can I sell I for RIGHT NOW'. If inventory is not turning over, you're not making money. They can't let a coin sit and wait for "the right buyer" to come walking in "sometime". Excellent video, as always Shaun 👍👍

Pawn shops were meant for quick bucks today, and I'll pay you back, but somehow has turned into criminals selling stolen items for penny's on the dollars, then the customer comes and trys to "negotiate" with a pawn salesman, but they stick to their over priced stolen items, why it's allowed is beyond my understanding,

That's true, because I live in Chicago and every coin I have to offer that's modern it's a spender to the coin dealers.

Great video. Thanks for sharing. I stopped at the only thing I could find where I live - a pawn shop - they didn't have many coins but said the one about 30 miles away would have more. I did buy something. I wanted him to remember me.

Thanks, Shawn. Another very good video. I have also noticed that majority of the dealers that do have a web presence, don't know how to use or take advantage of the medium. They just use it like a freeway billboard, but have little on their site, that would cause the average collector who knows how to use the net, to want to deal with them.

Yes, you are right BRSH! My local coin store treats modern coins as trash. I saw them put $2000 of modern coins in a bucket and sold them to a good customer at face value These are coins that other customers brought in their collections and this coin dealer bought for the metal content or key dates

anything after 65 would work for most country's except Canada being as our coins were made of silver until 67 and some 68's, great video love the channel

My coin dealer is very hard to sell to, he is very discouraging against coin roll although he said if I find anything to bring it to him first.

Smart move I plan on selling 5 years from my retirement because it is going to take awhile to liquidate. Although I might sell the ones that have the temporary high price for example like. The Wisconsin quarter extra leaf. They were high in the beginning the value has dropped since then.

Hey Shaun! Thank you for another great video! I want to get into selling some coins at least to fuel purchasing "better" coins. I am one of those newer coin roll huntin' collectors and most of what I keep is high grade moderns (stuff that looks ms65 or better based on standards in mega red and comparing to photo grade) and I also accumulate minor errors (collar clashes, a few clipped planchets, lots of die chips, cracks, trails, blisters etc) I also save toned coins and weak strikes, Do I have any chance at all in selling stuff like this as lots or individual coins?

My lcs,LOL! Is the next state south of Maine,NH. to be honest. All he wants is silver,gold and currency,or some of the big 5 DDO-DDR coins. Everything I bring in he popo's, but never made a offer. Since I got my microscope, it's been his loss!!!!

Keith Leach there is no such thing as a Kennedy dollar coin. Dollar coins are Morgan, Peace, and Ike

Download PCGS Price Guide, PCGS Photo Grade, PCGS Coin Facts. All 3 will answer your question slightly.

NGC is the best do do your error coins they charge 16 for errors while PCGS charge 65. My regular grades I would use PCGS they hold a higher value. These are the only ones I would use Anacs is ok but they do not carry the same wait and are not as popular with collectors and most dealers stay away from Anacs.

I don't know about your LCS, Local Coin Shop, but most LCS like my small town one wouldn't have facial recognition. I'm sure they have cameras in case of theft. Facial recognition is pretty advanced tech that is mostly only found in Airports and Casinos like in Las Vegas. If you think your local LCS has facial recognition you need to take off your tin foil hat and let some sun rays in.
