It because they were extremely homophobic, they were basically laughing at the situation when they called into the station to say they returned the kid to his “boyfriend”. Another thing he doesn’t mention here is when the police came to get the key to unlock Tracey Edwards, Jeffrey told them he lost it so they would have to cut his hand off… and he wasn’t joking! That’s how he would get the handcuffs off the victims after he killed them. The officer only saw the photos because Jeffrey acted suspicious when they went to go into his bedroom. So they FINALLY decided to actual police work and look around the place, one cop found the pictures of the bodies, realized he was in the room where the pictures where taken and had Jeffrey arrested.

As a former Marine who was stationed in Japan I can say I’ve seen Hiroshima and the haunting places where people sat and stood when the bomb hit. Peace park holds this history, my first trip there as a young cocky 19 year old marine I was sobered while visiting a elderly Japanese man as he visited with us telling his story. He was born and raised in Hiro, and when he turned 12 he was sent outside the city to work in a factory, meanwhile when the bomb hit it killed his entire family. I was conflicted being the grandson of another former Marine scout sniper who served in the pacific and was one of the first units to land on Nagasaki. My late grandfather survived several beach landings in the pacific his elite outfit were among the top of the spear 2nd Marine Div. He reminded me prior to going to Japan to serve that the results of the atomic bomb were what ultimately lead to the US winning the war. As veterans we both come to understand that war is not about “heros and villains” really it’s about who lives and who sufferers the most. I don’t wish warfare under any circumstance. As a father and 4th generation veteran I do not wish my children to choose those footsteps and I pray humanity can find peaceful solutions in conflict.

Not to be that guy but we dropped the bombs literally a day before we knew Japan was going to surrender through the USSR. Also we picked targets based on the horrors it would inflict or because it had academics and reporters to spread the news of the bombing and understand what exactly we had done. We were chomping at the bit to drop them basically just because congress treated it like a new toy and we wanted to be the first ones to use it. It is all public info now. The Pacific was obviously a different and much more dangerous story but thanks to the hard work of people like your grandfather we had already won. The japanese couldnt even form cohesive units and were going home by the time we dropped the bombs.

@@Luminousreign what is public info now? I know that Gar Alperovitz came up with this theory and others ran with it. Gar is an activist and im sure he is an "America is always evil" person. Japan was a brutal country back then. Most didn't think they would surrender and didn't want more Americans to die. They were only in talks to Russia not us. They also didn't even surrender until the second bomb.

@@swah25 In WW2, the US and Russia were allies. So talks btw Russia and Japan should have been enough. The dropping of the atomic bombs is not without reason also the start of the cold war. It was as much a show of force against Russia and the rest of the world, as it was to end the war. That the US send a research team there right away, makes Hiroshima and Nagasaki a research field under real conditions. Did it end the war faster? Certainly. With less fatilities? I don't think so. 230.000 deaths ( only till the end of 1945, way more can be added in later years) were caused by Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Almost exclusively civilians and forced laborers abducted by the Japanese army. Reason No 1 for the bombs to fall is to me that it made clear that one cannot win against a country with nuclear power. It secured America's position as a world power. I wouldn't be to surprised if the next bomb(s) are send on there way in the near future again. Just that that one won't land in Japan, but somewhere in europe.

I have a small business in North Carolina. My first hire was an older gentleman who was from Milwaukee. After 5 years or so of working with this guy and driving him to work every day, we got to talking about Milwaukee and I asked if he was there during Jeffrey Dahmers arrest and all that media attention. What he told me was shocking. He said "Yeah I was there. In fact, we lived in the same apartment complex." I was naturally curious and asked him more questions. He said Jeffrey was "quiet but a nice guy." They said hello to each other several times in the hallway. He said that there was a burst pipe in the complex that leaked all over the rugs and that for weeks the other tenants assumed the smell was mildew/mold from the pipe bursting. I just sat there dumbfounded at his story.

The best part of watching this man stories, is the way he can tell you a story you already know about, but you don't realize you know it until close to the end. His way with story telling is unparalleled! It's like we've grown up and been conditioned to hearing things from the killers side because that's what gets the media their attention. Then he comes along speaking for the victims and telling the story from their point of view, and honestly I prefer that.

The TV show doesn’t show the prom. I wish it would’ve. That’s an incredible show. For anyone that hasn’t seen it, I highly recommend it. Dahmer was an extremely sloppy killer & a hardcore alcoholic. He would’ve/should’ve been caught MUCH earlier, but racism against black people & hatred of gay men by law enforcement enabled Dahmer to keep killing. Many people complained to the police about him (behavior, people going missing, the smell from his apartment, loud noises late at night, etc) but the police didn’t take black people or gay men seriously, & they were the ones reporting this stuff to the police. The part w/ the teenage boy who escapes is heartbreaking. So many of Dahmer’s neighbors are begging the police not to bring that child back into his apartment. Like, pleading. But they do. That boy had a brother who Dahmer had killed some time earlier. So that family lost two sons to Dahmer. They were a family from The Philippines with very little money & Dahmer offered the boys money, that’s how he lured them to his apartment. So tragic.

Yep, the 'If onlys' in that case must be heart breaking for her boyfriend. Kim Wall was a well known and internationally respected journalist. Madsen was also renowned in his field. Hi, I've met Mr Madsen and his wife in Copenhagen, and had a long conversation with the guy around 2016, before all this. I've actually spent a night in his boat, which he was renting on Airbnb!! We mostly talked about his manned rocket he was building in a warehouse right in front of us, and his submarine where a German intern was actually living full time, helping on his rocket project. I found the guy fascinating, and he struck me as an high-functioning asperger/autistic person, it was extremely hard to talk about anything else than his projects. I remember feeling deeply unsettled by him, even though I tried not to show it. It felt like trying to talk about anything else than his stuff would trigger some sort of reaction. Every time I saw him, he was wearing an aviator suit, which made him look like a character from Tintin. I was still extremely surprised when I saw what happened in the newspapers a few years later! Right after the trip, I had seriously considered shooting a documentary about him (I'm a film director). But then I talked to a friend of mine who did that for a living and he told me there was no story here, lol. He was wrong, but maybe that saved my life - even though, he probably only targets women.

And if we're being honest, we can't just pretend these were all people equally divided over racial/gender groups. Jeffery was a white man, the cops were two white men, the victim was a ([black] correction:) Asian boy of colour (yes: boy. He was 14 years old). The pedestrians were two black women who were not believed, the ([black] correction:) Asian child was not believed and look at what came from those assumptions. A boy is dead. A boy who did everything he could to save himself and followed all the rules. It is important to understand that these factors played into the fate of this boy. Skin colour, gender, all these factors were used to facilitate this horror. Could you imagine the reverse scenario? A person of colour running after a white child saying that was their "thing" and two white women questioning that and then a POC cop agreeing with the POC in this scenario? It just doesn't fly. So much so, I had to reread that sentence multiple times and I'm still not convinced that there'd be even a remote chance of that happening. The fact that it still did, serves only to show two things: - racism is very much alive in modern society. we should always ask ourselves if we'd do, say and act the same if we reverse the skin colours (and not in a broad sense, but per situation) - A cop, no matter how much public trust is placed in them, is still a person. Susceptible to prejudice, intentional or not. A boy is dead. For what? And why? It could have ended there and then.

That was for the younger boy who he paid to come to his home. Women nearby initially saw the boy and then got cops to come over and they were like "this isnt right". They knew something was wrong, but the cops just ignored it because jeffrey was somehow amazing at deflecting people, manipulating people, and the cops didnt want to hear about the idea of gay men.

@@woutero520 Completely agreed, but small nitpick; it was actually a young Asian boy that escaped that day. His name was Konerak Sinthasomphone. At the time, Dahmer was a registered sex offender due to having assaulted a different young Asian boy a few years earlier. Who was that boy? Konerak's older brother, Keison.

For what it's worth, the brain has no pain receptors, so he wouldn't have felt much. At least not physically. But I couldn't imagine feeling your ability to speak and perform other simple functions slowly deteriorating and knowing this acid is being poured directly onto your damn brain. That's just a horrifying thought. Almost worse than being lobotomized while awake. Which some doctors did as they felt the pain of the lobotomy would help rehabilitate people who were difficult to control. In reality I think they just didn't like the people because they were difficult and wanted to inflict pain on them as a form of revenge. Frankly, I'm surprised he hasn't done a video about lobotomies (that I know of) yet. Especially Rosemary Kennedy. Given the high social status of the Kennedy family and the high profile of the case and the damage the lobotomy did to her, it's exactly the sort of topic that would suit this channel.

The last time I met him was 7-10 months before he committed the horrible crime. The few times we met, I got a clear impression of him that he was very morbid and inappropriate in various situations, he joked about everything, and constantly talked about women and sex. As the case progressed, it emerged that he had done terrible things to Kim Wall, and had tortured her before killing her. He dismembered her and threw her into the water.

They had been careful to disguise the name of Ambrosia Chocolate, referred to only as the 'North side chocolate factory' where Dahmer had worked and hidden a severed head in his locker while he served a jail term, to avoid the bad PR. But then in testimony, a MPD detective reported that Dahmer had told him he ate some of the body parts with A-1 steak sauce. I could only imagine the people at A-1 freaking out as this was broadcast to a large number of people. The other moment of dark humor came when this stolid detective testified that Dahmer had not initially reported having sex with one of the dead bodies because, "it might have made me think less of him." As if that were possible.

Apologies in advance for the length. When a story crosses my mind, I have to tell it immediately, and in its entirety. Lest it is tossed back on my brain's Crazy Train of Thought, possibly to never be remembered again. So: TLDR: In regards to the story about Hiroshima, my mom hit me with a story when I was 18 that ruined some of the best memories I had about my Grandpa's cigar smoke and jazz-soaked, speakeasy-ish kickbacks and quality art supplies that I loved as a child. When I was 4, my mom and I lived with my Grandpa, and a couple times a year a relative of mine, we'll call them 'R', would visit with their significant other; along with my great aunt and uncle. They all had the most amazing time together. I remember smelling cigars and listening to my grandpa play the clarinet while my great-aunt sang along. They laughed, danced, and listened to Jazz and Blues all night long. (And, they always brought me color books and a brand new set of Crayola crayons. Big win for a 4-year-old in 1987.) They were my favorite of all the different members of the family that would come visit. I always remembered R as fondly as I did the rest of the group. When I was 18, my mom and I were reminiscing about "the old days", and I simply mentioned R, when my Mom pulled the "Family Gossip" card like a 16-year-old girl. She then continued on to tell me that R, as an engineer of sorts, was an integral part of the modifications and assisted in the building of, a modified Boeing B-29 Superfortress. Also known as, the Enola Gay. (And, though I'm not sure to what degree R was involved, or what their specific career was, I DO know that R ALSO had a hand in helping with the specs of "Little Boy", just to add insult to injury.) I felt like I was immediately having a proper panic attack. I couldn't breathe, I was nauseated. My relative, someone I share DNA with, was INTEGRAL in helping the US drop the first nuclear weapon used in warfare... R willingly helped in the devastation of a whole continent; aided in changing the world in a cataclysmic fashion. And, they weren't even left with blood on their hands... Their hands were covered in the ashes of what could be anywhere from 70,000 to 135,000 men, women, and children. The elderly, and those expecting a child. Every one of them vaporized. Maybe I'm being dramatic, but to be that close to someone, genetically speaking, that was knee-deep in such a vengeful, antagonistic, and perfectly choreographed shit show, is a stark realization that hit me like a surprise knee to the bridge of my nose. To this day, I stay shook over this. I try to keep this tainted morsel of information tucked away in the back of my brain's closet. IRL, it's the equivalent of hiding something behind the "Not Even If You Had Major Plastic Surgery" section of my closet. And that's reeeeeeeeeally far back there. If anyone actually reads this to completion, I applaud you.

Yes the bombing was a tragedy but the war had to end. We earned them this was coming, but even after the first bomb, Japan refused to surrender. The shadows are tragic and heartbreaking, but most folks assume that the shadows are from people "burned" into the surfaces behind them. That's not the case: the shadows happened because the entire surface around the shadows was *bleached* by the lightflash. The shadows are literally shadows, what the person's body blocked from the initial flash. You can see this with other shadows left by objects, like ladders, bridge railings, water valves. The objects were still there with their shadows, all the area around their shadow bleached by the nuke. Additional info: Hiroshima's museum is street-view walkable via Google Earth.

I just searched Peter Madsen, from the submarine story. It turns out he got married last year (2020) to a younger woman, Jenny Curpen, a Russian artist who was formerly a journalist. In an interview, she described him as "very warm" and "very soulful" and said she was proud of him. She also said she was "lucky to be with the most beautiful, smart, talented, devoted and empathetic person and man ever." -- No words --

Everybody here in Denmark will never forget Peter Madsen. He was also into snuff films, the police found tons of them. He did not only beheaded her, he did A LOT more to her, and I will not write it here.. It is soooo terrible.. 😥 He always made video tapes and filmed everything, he also had a camera with him on the submarine. The camera was found but not the memory card. Maybe one day they will🥺

The fact that he did it in the most attention grabbing way possible as if to say, "NOT EVEN THE FACT THAT YOU ARE DOING YOUR JOB AS A JOURNALIST WILL KEEP YOU SAFE!" Why couldn't this dumbass just be satisfied receiving the feelings of "power" and "awe" from being "The Guy Who Built His Own Submarine?". He could've have gotten the love, thrill and accolades he craved. But, no, this moron was obsessed with the snuff film mythos and thought it would be fun to create a real snuff film involving a well-known reporter. What a weirdo. Y'know? The funny thing is, guys like this do this to feel powerful, but they only show that they are weak, and the victim is the stronger, superior person. If one has to push people down to feel great, they are weak. To Sub Guy, I'll say, "Try pulling that with trio of pro-wrestler dudes and MAYBE I'll be impressed.". Wouldn't it be great if these idiots victimized the wrong woman? We're not all physically "weak", some of us have learned how to make a guy eat pavement. It does happen and said stories need to be made public more because it does frequently happen. I remember reading about a girl in Pakistan, India or some Mideastern country who single-handedly managed to destroy a bunch of terrorist dudes on a bus. I remember seeing on a talk show an elderly woman who managed to outsmart a would-be rapist by wringing out his nards like a washcloth and she refused to let go until he called 911 and the cops arrived. In many cases a gal can be just as good as any man in fighting back, strength-differences between the sexes be damned. That said, not every gal has "it". I think gals should be socialized to have "it".

A bunch of my friends in middle school had made a movie in the woods where Dahmer buried that body; kind of like their own version of Lord of the Rings. I had went over to a friends house back on Black Friday for a sleepover, and his sister had a friend over too. He showed me some movies, one was an old B&W short of the TIE Fighter battle from Star Wars, and the other was this home movie that was partly filmed in the woods between another friend's house and Dahmer's.( That particular friend's step dad was a free lance photographer, who had done cover photos for magazines like Newsweek, and his studio overlooked the woods where Dahmer had buried that first body.) Anyways, there was something particularly odd about that film, almost as if they had photographed a ghost who was trying to get their attention. I found out later though, that Dahmer had partied with some people from Medina County Ohio, who were connected with this Underage Prostitution Ring that was being run by this crooked Judge named Skidmore. They would try to hook up attractive teens on dope and then try to get them to offend in Medina County, so they could be sentenced to the Detention Home where Skidmore would force minor girls to turn tricks for him, with older men. Girls who cooperated were rewarded with booze, smokes and dope. I don't know how long this went on before it got busted, but there is a weird connection between this and Dahmer, and I remember seeing Dahmer at a football game after that, which must have been right after he got out of the Army. I've heard that there are several similar homicides that supposedly occurred in Germany while Dahmer was stationed there. The one girl from the Black Friday Sleep-over died in a freak accident back in the mid-80s, she was in a friend's car and I think someone had sabotaged the torsion bar and brake cables on the car, because they ended up colliding with a bridge abutment going in the opposite direction that they were travelling in, with the speedometer locked in at 55 MPH. What I think happened was that the driver went to slam on the brakes after the torsion bar split, and the brake cables ruptured, and when the brake pedal went all the way to the floor she panicked and hit the gas pedal instead, which is how she ended up doing 55 in the opposite direction that she was traveling in... Our mutual friends from the black Friday sleep-over had moved to Seattle a few years previous to this 'accident', and I had lost touch with them. I also found out later that there had been a teacher who was busted for pedophilia at one of the other elementary schools in the District, and I believe it was the one close to where Dahmer lived, and the other story I had heard was that someone had given Dahmer a 'Swirly', which was a slang term for sticking someone's head in a toilet and flushing it - who knows what really set him off though. The school district was really hush-hush about this pedophile though, it was forty years before I found out about it, from a friend who knew some of the victims. Back then, if a child got molested, they were usually held responsible for it; they were either 'gay' or had 'asked for it', and people generally never talked about it, because they would get picked on or ridiculed, or beat up.

There's an episode of The Moth Radio Houe where a guy tells a story about when he was a young gay man afraid to leave the closet, but he would go to a local guy bar, just sitting quietly, wishing he could find Mr. Right. There was always this handsome man there that he was very attracted to, but the man never gave him the time of day, and always left with someone else. He tried dressing like the men he left with, tried talking to him, buying him drinks, everything. But nothing worked. The guy always ignored him. He was heartbroken. Eventually life moved on, and he never saw him again- until he was watching the news and saw a story about a sadistic killer in his city- there was the man he was so obsessed with all those years ago. It was Jeffrey Dahmer.

Love the videos. Couple minor details about the Dahmer story. Dahmer would convince his victims to put on handcuffs to "pose for pictures" in order to restrain them. The black dude said he agreed, then panicked when the second cuff hit his wrist. He actually said to the cops that maybe he just panicked and nothing was really happening. The cops were taking him back to Dahmers apartment the same way the other cops had done with the previous victim. But he still had the handcuffs attached to one wrist, so the cops asked Dahmer for the key, he couldn't find it. The reason he couldn't find it was because he didn't have it, the reason he didn't have it was because he would usually retrieve the locked cuffs by cutting off the victims hands. One of the cops offered to help look for the key. When looking for it, he found the pictures of dismembered body parts. At first glance he actually thought they were autopsy photos and almost dismissed them as study or work related, until he realized the photos were taken in the same room he was standing in. If it wasnt for the curious missing key, Dahmer might not of even been caught

Dahmer got what was coming to him. After incarceration he would taunt other inmates. One way was by making his food into human limbs before eating it and so forth. A man named Christopher Scarver had just about had it with this guy when he was put on a bathroom cleaning shift with Dahmer. The guard watching them left his station when a fight suddenly broke out down the hall. Scarver proceeded to take this opportunity and ripped a pipe out of the wall and beat Dahmer to death with it. He was a coward and wanted to avoid any kind of death sentence, so It gives me some solace to know in his finale moments he was just as scared as all the people he hurt and that that monster was finally put down.
