The switch really has turned into (outside of PC) one of the best platforms for jrpgs ever. With the added bonus of being more portable than even my ultrabook.

been playing digimon cyber sleuth since I got it during black friday. I LOVE it. I've been tired of pokemon for so long and looking for something new and this is an amazing replacement for it. Still have to get through hacker's memory and I still have cyber sleuth in it to get through all in one.

Need to sink more time into Ni No Kuni, it's such a great game!

I honestly think Ni No Kuni is extremely hard to recommend. Its a game where theres obviously a lot of love put into it by the creators, but its got so many flaws that it can be a right pain to struggle through to the end. The game starts out very strong with so much potential but it falls apart after the halfway mark.

Definitely, we need more - I still keep going back to my Vita and 3DS for JRPGs, the selection absolutely dwarfs what is available on Switch.

Grave Splendour Well, if you’re talking Vita, let’s get Persona 4 Golden on Switch which will go nicely with Persona 5 Scramble, SMT III Nocturne and V next year. With the plethora of back compat PS1/PSP games on Vita and DS/3DS games, I don’t think I can ever let them go.

The devs announced they want to make DQ12 an action title. No command menus. Square wasnt content just ruining Final Fantasy as a series, I guess.

@@KAvanAlten Subscribers doesnt mean much. And 7 Remake is kept alive by nostalgia, not gameplay. These games will be buried and forgotten in a small span of years, while people still cherish the classics before changing genres. In the classic RPG category, they are special. Otherwise, they are just another on the huge heap of not-so-special action games. Final Fantasy is NOT as popular as it once was. Other then remake (which has ALOT of nostalgia going for it, and isnt really a pure action game but a hybrid) only dedicated fanboys defend these titles as special. But most would rather they return to classic form. When a 16 bit game like Octopath Traveler gives a huge budget game like 15 a run for a its money in sales, and is STLL more spoken of today then the latter, well..... Yeah, they are trading classics for quick cash. Action games do sell more, but are quickly abandoned and forgotten with time. While a classic style well made RPG is practically immortal.

Over lockdown in the UK I had quite a bit of time off from work so finished off atelier ryza, shining force resonance and put 60 hours in xenoblade chronicles definitive edition. Then recently did trails of mana. Just started cosmicstar heroine

@@surfingconcrete 100% we work full time, have families, lord knows how we also manage to play games and make vids. The beauty of having a 3 person team. Top respect for peeps that make solo channels work.

I have been loving WoFF I bought it when it first came out on PS4 but was not rdy to play it back then as I was playing some other game but has been enjoyable as I am playing it now! =).

@@SwitchWatch Yeah it's probably better categorized as a crawler. Also I feel Divinity Original Sin II feels discriminated against by the J lol. Easily one of the best rpgs on the system imo (if you include western rpgs that is).

Rune Factory isn’t a JRPG. We’ll add it to the Action RPG or Farming/Life Sim list we have planned. Earthlock could have been added. It was in our old list but I decided to cut it

@@inandoutoftheabyss9953 xenoblade is made by the same people as xenogears and was included in this video (they also made xenosaga on ps2), trials of mana (also mentioned) is the latest mana game released even if it's a remake of an snes game. Grandia was probably never popular enough for gamearts to consider any sequel after 2 (even tho they're still re-releasing 1&2), wild arms did make it to a 5th entry on the ps2 which didn't sell well. Suikoden 5 was the last numbered suikoden on ps2 and it also performed poorly. Chrono cross was so bad it practically killed any chance of it getting a new sequel and valkyrie profile only got a sequel, a spinoff and a mobile game. Similar situations also happened to the star ocean series, the lunar series and breath of fire. turn-based JRPG series don't tend to last long unless they're pokemon, FF, dragon quest or atelier.

It is a way you look at it. A lot of the games mentioned here are actual ports who can also be played elsewhere. And sure, over time they also started to build up on their list of exculsives (Xenoblade, Octopath) but not half as impressive as the list mentioned here. For a console who turns 4 this March, the list is rather short actually. This might get an issue if the PS5 becomes more widely available and most people will go there, since with not only their own exclusives but also still the option to play the PS4 JRP's, the PS5 is outnumbering the Switch bigtime when it comes to JRPG's.

@@KAvanAlten You can't compare a system that's near the end of its life to a system that is only halfway through. I am certain the Switch successor (when it comes out) will be backwards compatible while continuing to build its JRPG library. Most of its games are not ports. "Not exclusive" doesn't = port. And in terms of exclusives, PS4/5 barely have any at all outside of Persona. Certainly if you factor in the PC.

Fanboy? I've been almost exclusively Sony since the SNES. Switch is the first Nintendo console I've owned since Gamecube. If I'm a fanboy of anything, it ain't Nintendo. Either way, nowhere and at no point did I insult your favorite toy, so you can spare me the playground insults.

@@SwitchWatch I'm tempted to pick it up again to grind more, but at the same time I have a couple of other JRPGS to finish on the switch lol. They are Valkyria Chronicles 4, FF12, then Star Ocean.
