Understanding advanced sidechain techniques will help any music producer level up their mix from noob to pro. The sidechain tips shared in this video include inverse EQ curves, sidechaining two parts together, ghost sidechain, frequency sidechain and multiband sidechain. All of which are advanced sidechain techniques in relation to the conventional approach of sidechaining to a single band compressor. You will learn how to improve clarity in your bass, pads, vocals and drums.

Thanks. Sidechain is so important and everyone only talk about kick+bass when there are so many different things that could need sidechain.

Yeah I totally agree. It's always the first thing we think of, which makes sense really as its probably the most important sidechain imo. But there's so many other creative sidechain techniques out there for other instruments. 😁 glad you liked the video.

Strokelock here! Great vid with a caveat* I feel this vid is indeed for the advanced user which is fine. The 1 thing I would have liked to have seen would have been a track at the very top (Midi) with the smallest of little blips used for sidechaining as we know the the duck doesn't occur until the compressor releases. I hope I am making sense, If not I will DM you. On another note: THANK YOU for this video!

Super interesting and technical. I played around with MIDI in the mid and late 80s… and that was the start and end of most of my digital music production experience. So many amazing tools available to almost anyone these days, allowing talent to be revealed (sadly just not in my case 😂).
