You can catch fish a bunch of different ways but up close and personal with a kayak or wading is a different feeling than a boat for sure.

Kayak fishing is alot of work. Storeing it, preparing it, haveing a pickup truck to transport it, launching it. Putting it back in truck, wash it, store it ex. Not fun unless you have a kyack buddy and 4 hours to 4. But agreed with everything you said.

I kayak fish all the time and while everything you said is accurate, I (a lot of the time) prefer to fish out of my kayak than fish a crowded pier or local land location where others will be in the way. It’s very satisfying coming up with a plan, finding the fish, catching until your hearts content, and calling it a day. It makes it all worth it. 👍

I think that is something a lot of people do not realize when getting into kayak fishing. There’s a lot that goes into it.

My confidence lures are spoons, red fish magic, and paddle tails. My best color is white or slamshady. I do try to have some dark and medium colors as well, but I always stat with a light color.

Spot on! Have a confidence lure and color to start and make adjustments when you have to.

My biggest question is do you REALLY need to get up before dawn for good fishing like trout? I know pike and walleye prefer evening.

Dude speaks the truth. Been inshore fishing for 25 years. Lure selection is all about covering the water as efficiently as possible. Depth and action are key. For color just look at the bait, the bottom and/or water color and match that. The two most important factors in catching fish anywhere are: local knowledge and confidence. Unfortunately due to water quality (lack of sea grass) some places once loaded with game fish (snook, reds, trout, tarpon) years ago are dead zones these days… so sad.

Lots of choices depending on budget and sizing. I have some Frogg Toggs that have been good. Higher end ones like Simms are great if budget allows but they are pricey

I fish at my local boat dock and catch more fish then the guys on boat and kayaks they watch me as they go out and when they come in they say they haven’t caught anything but catfish and at the same time I have my limit on redfish or trout and I have done a inshore slam a few times just by sitting on a dock they say it probably cuz ur just sitting in one spot instead of trying to find fish and I think their right but I’d love a kayak cuz I can see the reds or black drums tails come out the water and I sit and wait for the boats to leave so I can catch them lol

I feel like I catch more fish when im wadding even when I go kayaking if the bottom will let me wade I just pull my kayak behind me or tie it up

From experience I can say the two best days of a boat is the day you buy it because the excitement is there and the second day is the day you sell it. (Boats take a lot of time and money, plus when you sell it you find out who your real friends are and who were only around for the boat)

I agree with the friends part. Can’t tell you how many times I was out washing the boat by myself. But when I sold it, I wasn’t too happy, just wrong seeing my boat behind someone else’s truck. Thanks for the comment.
