Mac Allister has Liverpool challenging for a title. Arsenal were challenging for a title last season without Rice. Arsenal with Rice haven't suddenly become title contenders. Liverpool finished outside the top 4 last season and they are challenging for the title this season with a brand new midfield. Endo deserves a shout too.

Whoever is saying Declan Rice is the hub of the Arsenal team is actually very silly and doesn’t watch games apparently. Is he pivotal? Yes is he the main person? I don’t think so

I find it a misnomer when people say that Rice has changed his game since his time at West Ham. Does Rice score more goals now, take corners when needed to, and plays further up the pitch... absolutely. However, I'd argue that Rice has always been capable of doing those things, and it's more down to the personnel that is in charge of him/his game. Moyes' game is/has always been a more defensive game. The other teams carry possession more, and then we typically hit them on the counter attack and score then, or through set pieces. Rice's job was moreso to be that Roy Keane type of role for West Ham, only progressing the ball on occasion, vs now for Arsenal, under Arteta, where his game has been allowed to be more free-flowing, and he has been allowed to bring the ball up the pitch more, and shoot the ball more. Summary: Rice could always do all those things, but he's now allowed to do it because Arteta has a different style of play than Moyes.

Wholeheartedly agree. But to your very own point now accomplishing what you are capable of, by definition, suggests his game has changed. Is that down to his being limited and restricted previously? Yes. But it has still changed in light of now circumstances. And I believe he will continue to improve and reach new levels off the back of that freedom

What I am specifically alluding to is the fact that it's not like he had to develop a whole new skill set that he never had before, or wasn't capable of doing beforehand. Since he is playing in a new team, with a new coach (Arteta instead of Moyes), in a new style of play, that being a more free-flowing offensive team vs a Moyes team where he was more of a 6 than an 8, he's been allowed to show off more of his abilities. He's always had that talent/skill in him. We are just now seeing what he is fully capable of because he is playing a more progressive and fluid style of football, which is not what he was tasked to do at West Ham. It's common sense that players look different under different coaches. Different coaches have different styles and expectations for how players are supposed to play. For instance, if you put Cole Palmer into West Ham's team, would he have the goals and assist numbers that he has for Chelsea. Absolutely not. Because the style of play/expectations are different for each coach/team.

I get the Palmer angle but they are seriously underselling Rice and his impact. With thanks to Rice, Arsenal have gone up a level and dare we say it are now almost toe to toe with Man City which is a feat all on its on. Palmer keeping Chelsea from being completely embarrassed is less than Rice pushing (and could do it) for the title. Pushing for a title is more than keeping a team from relegation.

35 mill lads, y’all aren’t comprehending how much of a bargain that is. Arsenal fans love saying “Rice was a bargain, we should’ve paid West Ham extra…”, that goes x10 for Mac Allister lol. Mac Allister is the only midfielder at Liverpool that’s shown he’s at the level to be competing for this league title, Szobo isn’t a natural midfielder and has been out of form for months. Endo was great but he’s also lost form and he’s old. Mac Allister has been doing everything in that midfield.

I still remember arguing about how good Cole was in a different comment section when Palmer had just been signed. Loads of people were saying he's a waste of money, but every time I watched him for play City, I enjoyed watching him play. I was always annoyed that Pep didn't give him more game time, especially with Riyaad leaving. But I'm glad he's able to shine, even if it isn't for City.

It’s not close. Rice is a proven Premier and int’l level class player. Palmer has had one very good season (made better by all the penalties his team somehow gets). Let’s see how next year plays out.

You’re not talking sense. The ratings are about this season,so Palmer having one good season (this one) is completely relevant. Furthermore, penalties are goals, and are difficult, otherwise all players would have no issues taking them and would never be missed.

He helps protect the backline. Great at interceptions and tuckles. Great at carrying the ball forward. Great at set peace delivery in which most of these Arsenal leads. And eye test and constantly pulling 8 and 9 performances. No player does what no other player can do its just the level at which one does it that sets players do

mac allister only had to grow into this liverpool team because he was asked to play a position he’d never played before. Liverpool play with almost a sole 6 with the 2 8’s advancing past the striker and wingers at time when mac allister was used to playing alongside caicedo or as a 10 ahead of 2 other midfielders. Then factor in playing alongside szoboszlai who was making his debut aswell it was never gonna be easier, it’s like asking rice to join arsenal and play as a 10 he wouldn’t have been good. As soon as he started playing in that 8 position with freedom he was our best player most games

How is Palmer the signing of the season? He has scored 20+ goals but Chelsea are still as poor this season as they were last season. Palmer is purely an individual stat chaser. Rice has improved Arsenal and we are more solid and resilient and harder to beat. He has contributed to our game control and has scored goals and assisted with numbers comparable to Rodri. Rice is also contributing to a title challenge whilst Palmer battles to score the most goals for his Chelsea even if they lose... this is a great signing! 😂

Chelsea almost got relegated last season and now has chance for 5th. Arsenal already has stable system which Rice improved while Palmer plays in much disjointed side with new manager still finding his system.

Arsenal fans probably have the best PR for their players. Rice was £105m, Arsenal are on course to finish on a maximum of 89 points providing they win all their games. That’s a 5 point improvement. They’ve been knocked out of every single competition the same as last year. Chelsea finished on 45 points and scored 38 goals last year. Palmer was £42m and has a combined G/A of 29 in the EPL. Needless to say they’ve reached a cup final and FA Cup Semi. Bias aside, Palmer is by far a more impactful signing…

listen I have Cole Palmer as signing of the season also..But lets not pretend that going from 85 to a potential 89pts is significantly harder than improving from 45 points to a potential 61. That would mean Man City have flopped every transfer window since they got 100pts!

@@banjiamosun7283 Chelsea were 12th last year. 12th. With Palmers help we could finish 6th with 63 points. Two excellent cup runs aswell which he was pivotal to. Arsenal were already a well oiled machine, yet they crashed out of every competition again and are on course to finish 2nd again.

Also Arsenal went toe 2 toe with Man City who are the best team in WORLD FOOTBALL and have been for the last 3 or 4 years at least.
