I’m an old Dj from the 80’s and after years of being away I’m getting mesmerized with all the new technology we have available now. I tried Serato first, influenced by the industry standards and comments but, as it doesn’t support the budget controller I happen to have, I went to VDJ, which supports way more controllers. So I couldn’t experience Serato, I’m discovering VDJ and I find it A-MA-ZING, I don’t understand why people criticize the large amount of features it has, that, by the way, they are optional, you can leave them alone. And, isn’t that what you want as a DJ? In the 80’s we couldn’t even dream about everything we can do now, the way we can manipulate the tracks and mixes is astonishing. Now I can understand how Armin Van Buuren does some things, even though he uses Ableton. And the analogy with Apple and Android does not make any sense to me, Apple is great, I’m an Apple lover, but I consider Apple is great for the end user, as an end user I just want a product that I can just turn on and use with no big deals, extremely intuitive, that’s Apple’s success, I love when I buy a new Mac plug in Time Machine and in a few minutes I have a clone. BUT, I believe a DJ is no end user, a DJ is a pro, and a pro must have the best and as many tools as possible. That’s my opinion.

can you show us how can we map a key to be pressed and while holding the crossfader moves to the left or right? as you hold the key crossfader will move

4:25 Shift + Arrow is built-in by default utilises different buttons. On a MAC it is Command + Left or Right Arrow Key. A useful tip for mapping other things though so thanks for sharing.

I don't know why Harmonic isn't the default setting. Did you leave the default Cross-Fader curve setting at Full?

This is great. I actually used virtual dj a few years back. And they've added so many features that I've basically am lost. Also my controller keeps switching to a certain sample folder when i clearly need it not to and stay on that certain folder I'm working. Any idea i can set that setting. Like i said it's been a while.

Glad to see serato users opening up to giving VDJ a chance in seeing what it has to offer.... but 1 key piece of info u missed before making this vid is that VDJ has a mapping in their settings that make the keyboard shortcuts work like serato so u won't hv to do all those mappings to the keyboard. In the options menu, go to 'mapping', then on the top right hand side of the screen u will see a lil box with a drop down arrow. Select the one that says 'factory default Optional' and close it. From there the keyboard layout would reflect that serato to help serato users find their flow better.

You were an answer to my prayer I was looking for something totally different and I ran into your post I was like I'm not a beginner I wasn't going to click on it but something said click on it you never know and there it was the mapping from left to right loading decks changing from musical to harmonics. I Just like you had option of using Serato Pro a virtual DJ Pro you're right it's like using ISO and Android we just have to pick the one that's best for us. Know how to blend music just recently wanted to try harmonic mixing perfect way for me to start. THANK YOU GOD BLESS 🙏 🙌

why cant you just organize the entire crate by bpm and key simultaneously? in serato if i am in a floder i can organze all files by bpm first and by key respectively.
