Necromunda has seem to be more interest in my local shop than kill team. (not fully shure)

There's something to be said for a skirmish game that has a bunch of unique factions, whereas Kill Team is a bit confusing and is based on this new seasonal model which is just far more alienating

I really don't understand why anyone buys from the gw actual store when we can get 15% of at third party stores. My local gw also has loads of killteam and the black Templar box set at no discount piled up. I have enough in my pile of shame to last me all of 2022 anyway so I won't be buying from gw unless something really special comes along and gw get their act together

Yeah, I was actually getting into AoS myself because it felt like the way more accessible game. That GW are turning it into Warhammer 40k is sad, if unsurprising.

@@DiscourseMinis Since we are talking about AoS and GW turning it into 40k.. Would you consider perhaps doing a documentary style video of what killed the old Warhammer Fantasy? Personally i can mention a few things: First of all towards the end of its lifetime it was treated as a second rate game that GW would only occasionally update. There was a LONG time in between updates of an armybook and at least one army wouldn´t get any update neither in miniatures or armybook... hello Bretonians (ask any old time Warhammer fan about assembling a Pegasus knight and they will likely curl up in a ball weeping, over the painful memories of metal wings plastic body). Alot of the armybooks wasn´t that well written. Tomb Kings basically ended up being a glass canon that would lose 9 time out of 10. The Dwarf armybook was mediocre at best and downright insulting at worst. The characters.. let me ask you do you like Settra the imperishable and you most defiantly would like The Green Knight or Thorgrim Grudgebearer and playing on the tabletop would be nice right... Well too bad unless you are playing a friendly game with modified rules, you will NEVER see them on the tabletop. Their rules sucked basically every normal lord or hero would be singing the classic "Anything you can do i can do better, anything you can do i can do to.." to the character models Then there was the ever increasing size of the armies towards the end (no joke) my Dwarf army had around 100 models in play. And when a box with a 10 man unit costs around 53,57$, then such an army become REALLY expensive... So i think those are all contributing factors in what made Warhammer Fantasy ever dwindling in popularity. Lack of support from GW and ever increasing prices and size of the army.

@@Erikjust Let's not forget that that was the time Failcast was introduced and many models' prices went up (Blood Knights *cough*)

Army painter are manufacturing their speedpaints at about half the price of contrast now so unless you need a pot to 100% match a painted mini you don't even need to give them that money.

@@PraetorGix ah right, might be worth to give them a try, too. I am just untypically amazed about the Contrast "white" spraycans, since they do not form clumps or speckled layers.

This year was the same - my entire hobby budget was redirected to Marvel Crisis, SW Legion, Burrows & Badgers and Modiphius' fantastic ES Call to Arms and Fallout Wasteland Warfare. And I feel a million percent better for it knowing I dont have to endorse this shite

I would have said i bought more from other companies, but than i buy a single GW model and i have suddenly spend more on GW than other miniature companies.

Same as my local GW store, they still had loads of Battleforce including the Ad Mech battleforce which I thought would be the best seller.

I got a 25% discount on games workshop products I got 3 of those army deals what surprised me was you can still buy the space marine one on the website these sell out fairly quickly

I been seeing bloodbowl and 40k sitting on the shelf while my local scene plays Conquest

Just been to the only WH store in our city. pretty sad really. full shelves after Xmas, and no wonder, $100 for two 28mm characters $300 for a starter kit or chance the scalpers, $95 for the codex, $$ for core books, and expected to buy WH+ for what and that's one army. if I want to play against my son, we might get two armies. but no. it's too expensive for one let alone 2, gonna keep my hands.in.my pockets. I could buy a 3d resin printer for the cost of a starter box. It's starting to be an economic option. My son hasn't noticed the lack of Warhammer animations, because there aren't any left to see. Needless to say, without any engagement with the franchise, he's not pestering me to get involved. And I'm not encouraging it any more.

@@cheesemarine Apparently he and Arch had a discussion about what happened. Goober claims that he didn't do anything with malicious intent when it came to the NDA incident. Arch even pulled his video on the subject down, so there must have been enough compelling evidence to make him believe that Goober was telling the truth. Thing is, I think he's probably a really nice guy in real life, but your assertion that he's naive pairs well with the way he tackles social issues. I think he's woefully under informed on a lot of topics, and more often then not simply repeats what the popular opinion of the day is. Who knows, maybe he absolutely believes what he's saying, but it feels like he's trying to ride the fence.

i loved 2.0 - It was the most invested in the hobby i have ever been. But dominion and 3.0 is obnoxious to me........The whole thing directly goes against what made that side of the hobby great in the first place, rules have been pay walled off, the complexity of the game has increased, and the accessible prices have gone through the ceiling into space. Underworlds has suffered the same fate. Warcry only for me now, if they mess that up i'm out the door.

@@theDackjanielz I am with you 100%. It's weird. Our group has played third edition, and we all like the rules, but we are still put off by it. We talked about it at length and decided that it is because we are not the game's target audience anymore. We like AoS because of all the funky s*** that first and second edition have; random tables, wandering monster, weird terrain effects, and crazy scenarios on top of it all. 70s-Psychedelic-Fantasy Water Elves battling Anti-Theistic Capitalist Steampunk Dwarf Pirates on Flying Turtles and Airships! AoS3 is much more "Fantasy mens are serious business!" The new faction to introduce the new edition? Orks, but without the humour and less over-the-top. The rules are written much more precisely, kinda like Warmachine 2, and everything feels like it is catering to hardcore tournament players. That's fine, I guess, but it's a radical change of direction for the game, and it's just not for us.

@@Rotheric It might be because the 3rd edition AoS rules are a mess, you have special actions tucked in the rules everywhere. At least thats what my gaming group came to the conclusion.

@@DiscourseMinis No kidding! Perry miniatures sells a boxed army set for their Napoleonics range of Austrians. 146 28mm miniatures for 50 British pounds. So for the same price I would spend on a box of ten space marines (discounted of course), I get three regiments of Austrians (or more if I change up unit sizes for games) and an officer. Ergo, more then enough miniatures to play a big game of Black Powder or a skirmish from Sharp Practice and or Over The Hills and Far Away. Selling 145 28mm miniatures for a decent price the common man can afford? Now that's soldiering!

No….GW pays a lot of taxes. And it isn’t a multinational. Also, none of this stuff GW has done merits government action to make it worse. All responses to GW are in your hands, you have the power.

if you ever need to just sell your armies, or shelve them/use them in another game system that's ok with third party, they'll just pump you for cash over time with a cycle of new rules systems & armybooks anyway the longer you stick around, there's no true 'army complete & done' point with the current & official games system from GW

The beast snaggas are alright, but they're a part of the bad trend of new kits being mostly mono-build. Only options are whether or not to replace 1 boys pistol and close-combat weapon with a ranged one, and whether to build the first boy as a nob. GW has gotten effectively anti-customization in their sprue designs in the last couple years. Still, I ended up getting a box of the beast snagga boys as a part of an after-christmas sail, along with some Chaotic beasts from the fantasy skirmish game. I couldn't really justify to myself getting any of the box sets though, even though they would be at an additional discount, on top of being a combat patrol or starter set. Too many of their sets that have something I do want also have a some minis I either don't need or want more of, don't want at all, or am underwhelmed by. Like the primaris' hover vehicles, should have followed the look of the older land speeder a little more, or at least didn't pointlessly ape the front of a tank that has tracks. Shoot, pardon my rant.

Yeah, the ombudsman bit cracks me up so much. The victorian boogeyman hahaha. And yeah, the constant rules are so relentless now (are you looking forward to seasons? I sure aint). There's so many great games now, GW are definitely losing their grip on the market.

One can only hope the can base gradually moves that way too... I would love more videos exploring different systems... But KZfaq doesn't reward diversity and any model channel that moves away from 40k suffer, that's the bit I wish would improve... Even an anti GW channel is quite hamstrung I what they can produce
