🔹 The London System: Essential Theory, TRAPS to Win Fast - • The London System: Ess...
In this video lesson, GM Igor Smirnov shares with you the top 5 chess opening traps in the London System for White. The London System is a chess opening for White that can be used against virtually any Black defense, where White usually plays the following setup: 1.d4 2.Nf3 3.Bf4 4.e3 5.c3.
The London System opening is extremely popular nowadays mainly because of its simplicity and the rock-solid pawn structure for White in the center.
These traps are of high quality, meaning that you don't play any bad moves, desperately hoping for your opponent to fall for the traps. Rather, you play very solid moves so you get a great position even if your opponents don't fall for the traps.
Whether you play the London System as White, or wish to give it a shot after watching this, or want to be aware of this trap as Black, you're going to love this video lesson!

When we started playing chess roadside in our post student era as unemployed youth, I can remember, we used to play this opening without knowing it's name. We called this opening as 'Temple' Opening looking at its temple-like pawn structure.

I get frustrated playing the london system because they always take the bishop even when I move down, and they always move their white bishop down to take my knight on F3 and it throws my game plan off. Also the Queen coming to B6 frustrates me as well, throwing me off while I"m trying to learn how to play my game plan. I've watched so many London games from many different GM's and they all play differently and still win while one wrong move of mine sends me to purgatory lol. Anyone got a shoulder to cry on...

Adjust your game plan. If they take the dark bishop and allow you to open up the h file a lot of the times you can set up a good attack on h7, especially if they castle that side. At beginner level its not always the best move to play on memorisation because like you say people make mistakes and deviate leaving you unable to capitalise on their mistakes. Analyse all your games and it will give you a much better idea of how to do this as it is tailored to your game and shows you the best move in any position you reach. Hope this helps

@@rookie902I'm kind of a newbie myself to the London system but I think you're right. Also, I was thinking that after Qe4, Black could move his pawn up ...g6 blocking White's queen from a quick checkmate and making a bolt hole for the king. Then: Qh4 Kg7, Qh7 Kf6 and Black's king has wriggled out and is suddenly threatening White's knight. Am I missing something here? Nevertheless it appears that Black's king is naked and trembling out in the open surrounded by enemy pieces, and probably can't look forward to a bright future.

17:28 If you re-capture the pawn on b5 with the white bishop, using the pinned pawn on the a-file, you allow black to capture your knight on b1. If you re-capture with your Rook, you unpin the pawn and black will take your b5 Bishop. So black kind of forces you to trade your white squared bishop for the Knight on d7. So after the pawn re-capture on b5 you sort of release the pressure you had on black? I'm not sure though. The position ends equal i think with white's knight on e5. But white's bishop is gone and that is quite an important piece.

Sadly this loses to Qd6+, forking the king and rook, and for any non-check, black can either advance their pawns or force a draw via queen checks, the only winning move is Rxa7+, and after Qxa7 (only move), Ra5, then Qxa6, followed by Rxa6#

Your content is incredibly informative, you present that information in a very logical and easy to consume manner, and you take into account the bad moves that nearly all players below 2100 will fall into and you give that relevant information the proper focus and detail that it deserves. Theory of Everything solution (short version): Swap from Newton "real/necessary" universe over to Leibniz "contingent/not-necessary" universe as our fundamental blueprint of the universe. This includes Leibniz calculus vs Newton calculus. Anywhere Leibniz and Newton thought different. All of it. Full swap. Gottfried Leibniz "contingent/not-necessary" universe just lacked 2022 quantum physics verbiage (just match up definitions) and Hamilton's 4D quaternion algebra (created 200 years after Leibniz died). Lastly, the first number is NOT 1. It's 0. First four numbers are 0, 1, 2, 3 ✅. First four dimensions are 0D, 1D, 2D, 3D ✅. Ask someone to start counting. I bet they start with 1.

@@jimkyle8008 First move Rxa7, Qxa7. If white Qxa7, then black king would be able to move to b6 after capturing the white queen on a7. So the best move would be to add another piece to the attack, Ra5. If black queen captures the white queen, then Rxa6 mate. If black does Rb7, then Qxb7 mate, as the black queen is pinned by the white rook on a5. The trick to the puzzle is to add extra attackers when you have a pin, before recapturing.

RxR RxR any other move by black would-be mate next move R to f8 - Q to F4 RxQ any move by black R to f8 black cannot stop mate RxR KxR as long as Black rook is not at B8 next move is mate Q to B7 This is how I would finish.
