Aaron Rainbolt if items were allowed and certain stages , then there’s more variables , match up knowledge and this makes the game deeper but the problem is it’s still rng that factors in most of these things so it’s not fair

If the DK doesn't get a 50, this Pikachu one doesn't too. The Yoshi one with the red shells, 100% deserving. Even if you compare it to the Yoshi one he did (last year I do believe), this wa snothing, and he didn't get a 50 back then

Timothy Sexton wtf? This entire competition is about showmanship and winning the crowd. His combo was very basic until that badass slow mo punch ended it. He got a good score from the judges because of it

It's because the combos should not only be extremely technically complex, but also still enjoyable, even to those who don't understand the finer nuances of 64 tech. So bringing in judges who understand smash as a whole but not necessarily 64 helps add this dimension.

I love that last Prince combo with the red shells and gun. Reminds me of TAS bot shell juggling in Super Mario World. Plus that little last hit with the gun is the perfect ender

Oh my god I didn't know this even existed, a dunk contest for smash games pretty much. This is great. Holy shit I'd rather see this for 3 hours than a full tournament. Also Isai is completely pulling a wojak, "these combos are so hard, my feet hurt, this crowd is too loud, i wish i were home streaming". Dude is so done with this and ready to leave.

This was the year I realized there were pretty much no rules to the contest. Over time, I saw items and it was like, "What? Items are allowed." Then slow downs. And now, in 2023, getting up out of the chair and watching your combo finish along with the judges. This is like Christmas for smash bros players.
