A huge thanks for Chris at www.tinshedmodular.com for supporting the work I do and sponsoring this video on the Top 5 Eurorack Modules as per the sales from the first year of business at Tin Shed Modular. I wanted to have some fun and wish Tin Shed a Happy Birthday with some great British weather and upbeat spirit ... so I hung around in wet, damp, freezing cold rainy places blowing those streamer things and making a mess with party poppers. I also donned a rather fancy party hat. Check out demos for some of the top 5 modules linked below.
Also thanks for Edward Ball for his great abstract paint work that provides a lush background for the modules and to Matt Gaines of MMI Modular for the great USB powered mini case.

But this was a nice instance of the sponsor not dictating the content in anyway (I've never worked with anyone that has dictated what I do) other than using their top 5 selling modules as a factual base for the top 5.

Ha I also bought 3/5 of those modules in 2018 (all the non-Erica ones). Particularly love the Batumi. One of those rare modules that makes me feel fully satisfied with what it provides. My hunger for more oscillators, filters and envelopes may never be sated, but I am confident that I've got my LFO game fully locked down as long as Batumi's in my case. And what wild modulations it can introduce into a patch!

Hi Angelo, while I like the stream of thought commenting I think you've gone off down a different path to what's going on here. Years ago, a store called Tin Shed turned 1 years old (open for business for 1 year). To celebrate we made a video listing the top 5 selling Eurorack modules from that shop. No one is talking about value, non Eurorack gear, Nords, Kurz, keyboards, Arturia or anything else. So I don't get what you're meaning with this.

Well I have the 2 Erica's & awaiting a Batumi from Shawn Cleary. My next top filter choices were either Sisters or funnily enough Jove. Not sure about plaits as my hearts set on a micro braids & even that's not near my next choice of vco. It partly depends what you've already got of course but my next personal vco choices would be furtherrrr generator who's cost continues to defeat me mind, & another Erica namely the graphic vco.

I was chatting to Endorphin.es about the Furthrrrr Generator on Friday funnily and will hopefully be checking that out soon. I've really enjoyed there other modules. So, ‘sponcon’ generally skeeves me the hell out - but this is hilarious & delightfully self deprecating. In short, it was great. You could have easily cheapened both your and their brands, but you did the nigh on impossible in this situation and strengthened them. (Ex-adguy mode now disabled) Happy holidays Ben! I really don't like these "you can only have" questions. Not because of the intent of the question but because it's missing information. Only have one filter to do what? Am I filtering a drum mix? A traditional analogue bass voice? A Buchla / Serge west coast thing? For processing external signals? They all have strengths and characters that we subjective decide we like but that varies depending on the input and use cases.

this has been great and a quiet supply so far. I'm using an older iPad charger to plug the USB into it. It was originally designed by Tom Whitwell of Music Thing Modular and expanded for more power by Matt Gaines.

Happy new Year... How much each one of them cost?... And how much would cost to if build those 5 in a rack? How much if I buy them already racked by someone else.?
@DivKid
@DivKid 5 жыл бұрын
They're not all DIY so you can't build all of them. In fact there's only the Jove and Plaits here that are open source so you can find DIY PCB/panels and other people offering built or even altered versions of them. They come pre assembled. This case and power is DIY but should be available pre built soon. Head to a music retailers site of choice and start pricing it up.

@@DivKid . It would be nice if you give a figure.. More or less, to get an idea. 300 dollars each? , .1500 for the 5 of them?

Hi Jim, you're the first to ask so I haven't thought about it ... and it was a good while ago. But that's just how they were given, I could have asked at the time but as it was a bit of fun for a modular retail stores birthday it didn't seem too important to do anything but have a bit of fun with those modules. Care to take a guess at which you think sold best?

I thought about it and it was a tonne of work for little comeback, I had people not responding and just taking a tonne of my time trying to get things out (and pay to post everything around). So it cost me a load of cash and time. It's funny that people are vocal about it now it hasn't happened. Might do it next year. But people didn't really share it around that much (or didn't tag me) last year.
