Well, once I had an epic fail because the place was a bit lost, and although I had looked on the public transportation website and found a bus for the last leg of the journey, when I got there, there was no bus because that particular bus was only for the workers to get there early in the morning, therefore, I had to search for an alternate route, and arrived there almost one hour late. as an apology, I had to translate the whole presentation for free. Another fail was when on a 3 day event, on the first day, one of the organizers told me that on the second day there would be a railway strike, and advised me to take the metro instead and then walk for about twenty minutes. I checked my route on Google maps and it looked fairly simple, but when I got out of the metro, I realized that there was no way I could get there on foot, because every passage was blocked by huge construction works. I ended up trying to get a Bolt cab, who cancelled the ride after I had been waiting for him at least 10 minutes, saying that the traffic was completely jammed and that he couldn't get to me, and then managed to get a Uber, who drove me there, but arrived half an hour late. Luckily my boothmate saved me!

I am so terribly sorry this happened to you! Yes, public transport can be an absolute nightmare. I live in the area where the train service (that's how I get to work most often) is famously bad, with last-minute cancellations and delays.

Omg, the second fail happened to me too back in the day when I was interpreting (early noughties). I was complaining about someone in the audience to my colleague and someone came back to the booth and said, hey, you know your mics are on!
