Hi, Melissa! I love that I found another Zone 9b garden to follow., thanks to Janey and her garden tours. We have a grandson who was diagnosed as being on the spectrum when he was about 2 or so. Truly some difficult years for my daughter and her husband and they explored different avenues of treatment. Now he's 16 and thriving and actually, I don't think he is considered to be on the spectrum now, but don't quote me. Anyway, love your garden and what you've accomplished. Your love for your space shows. Best wishes for success with your garden and love to your son!

It is a program for people with special needs that have aged out of their system or their families no longer able to take care of them and I love your gardening style. Gardening has always been my happy place. I call it my Dirt Therapy. When my children were little there was always a travel alarm clock in my gardening basket so that I wouldn't miss their bus drop off 😂 It's so easy to lose track of time... Now my youngest grandson, he's autistic as well, loves to get out and enjoy some dirt therapy too💗 His absolute joy is watering, making pretty rainbows and snacking on his cherry tomatoes.

My brother has 3 boys...two of which are Autistic. One is 17yrs old and very high functioning and the middle is 15yrs and is very low functioning. I have been an elementary school teacher for 22 years so I feel I've seen the whole spectrum. LOL I love your garden. SO GLAD Janey introduced you to me!

Hi! Great video, your garden is lovely! I found you through Janey. 😊 I wanted to say that I had a son with special needs and I began gardening as a way to calm my nerves and mind. Then when he passed away at age 7 I jumped in head first. I suddenly found myself with more time than I knew what to do with, so gardening became even more of an important thing in my life. His name was Jack and recently I found a PW clematis named “Happy Jack” and had to have it! I have just found so much comfort and meaning in growing and nurturing these flowers that bring me so much joy and make me feel closer to God and to my son.

I'm so happy everyone already love's you and your garden as much as I do! I'm so proud of you! 🥰🌸

My son just turned 10 and he has level 3 autism and is nonverbal. Well according to that description. He says so many words now. He has learned to express what he wants or needs or just to be silly. I never thought I would hear his voice. He is such a blessing to us. I love your garden and I myself just started gardening this year and love it!

I started by buying my favorite - hydrangeas- and have ever since been trying to create enough shade to where they can survive the blazing hot summers. A little backwards, I know. I have one rose that was saved from the old family ranch over 100 years ago. It's a green rose. It's in a pot and I just hope to keep it alive. I don't know how to take care of it. So thankful for you sharing the personal story of your gardening journey! My story is similar that we bought a home 6 years ago that had great gardening bones but was ignored for years and very overgrown. During the time my son also struggled with severe adhd and autism. Gardening became my personal joy and therapy!❤ I’m excited for your channel and learn along with you!!!
