@STORM LORD helps to kill stray raid units that you hadnt noticed, so in some situations its good. It doesn't cost that much and you can research it when you suspect long imp.

Another point of view that wasn't brought up in this video: Often times Malians use Farimba Cavalier/Heavy Camel in early/mid Imp, and that way have "free" upgrade for their light cavalry line as well when they get more relevant in post-imp, in comparison to generic civs that still need to pay for the expensive upgrade.

It also requires a castle, which should really add 650 stone to the cost.

@@its_w4yne an Elite Magyar Huszar deals a net 23dmg per hit to a treb. so you need 7 hits to kill a treb. unless you cover the entire surface area in Halbs there is no way to save Trebs from Huzsar if they kamikaze for it. and Magyar also have the best CA in the Game to counter Halbs.

@@hansoskar1911 7 hits to kill one treb. If he arrives with 4 trebs and 30 halbs you need *a lot* of Huszars. That's in no way cost effective since you don't even kill the halbs.

They arguably have the games best Cav Archers, Hussars (as Huszars), and trash units (Huszars). Imho the last two points are overrated and really like 5th or 6th best, but that's still a good combo for a civ to have.

probably all around best tech tree in the game. Fully upgradeable arbalests, fantastic cav archers, champs/halbs only lacking last armor (which is not a big deal as you ony tend to make these units against other melee where 1 armor is a minor thing) and then super cavalry. One of the best unique units that is just a flat out upgrade over the most popular trash unit. But they lack an eco upgrade.. so still quite far behind civs that do have them. Economy > versatility. Civs like Chinese and Malians have slightly worse tech trees but big bonusses to help out.

5 times faster producing(80% faster in AOE2 means that) is so sick in DM. Its so hard to handle those early units sniping all your villagers. Against a player without quickwalling skills it can result in a super early gg.

Michael RS DM are mostly mirror matches, so both side produce faster. So it doesn’t have any significant effect.

@@oscarvozzi7548 I don't speak Hungarian and can't tell you what the plural of "Huszar" is; probably something like "Huszarek". "Huszars" is just the English plural tacked onto the unit's name, like "Konniks" or "Bagains" (instead of "Konnitsi" and "Bagaini") for an example.

I`m Hungarian and saying Hussar and Huszar (originally huszár) is exactly the same. Plural is Huszárok. Huszars were an exceptionally effective light cavalry in the late medieval of Kingdom of Hungary, a hussar+ if you like :)

He is not rating them just off their upgrades but on their effectiveness as in if you can make them by having a good eco bonus for food and so on. Though I agree and I think the Tatars are better than at the very least the Mongols but he does state that this is just his opinion based off of what he views is important for a hussar civ.

"sz" =/= "s" in polish. Also, we would have 2 different names for those units: "huzar" and "husarz". Depending on what years/ country of origin of a military formation do we talk. :) If it's winged one, the polish proud xD then it's Husaria (as formation) and husarz (as a single man). Which is funny, because our winged hussars were half-heavy / heavy cavarly. And the one from Hungary i would call "huzar" and for me it rings a bell those would be more versatile, scout-ish, light armored, with guns (our polish heavy-armored also had simple guns, but not as primary or secondary weapon) and maybe pikes but way shorter then polish ones.

The Magyar Heavy Cav archers is what I'm good with and can utilise the best... Especially with their new Team bonus. But when I play with some friends... often I'm so strapped the whole game whilst their banks are massive (10k+ Wood), I'm only able to farm efficiently and pump 12-15 hussar + 4 Magyar Huszars out with only a trickle of '(Heavy) Cav Archers'... that I mainly try to get into forward castles. Build up 20 of them where they can't die & they increase the number of arrows as my Hussars tank and TICKLE them down or snipe siege.

It's hard to maintain that rate of production until the late game, where as cumans you will also be funding your siege, and the other team almost always has pikes and skirms waiting for you. Imho in practice they aren't top 5 material.

Believe it or not, no. Original Husars (with that spelling) were Serbian. Corvinus gave them a place in his army when they left Serbia.

Though initially it mainly consisted of Serbian refugees the unit was part of the Hungarian army ever since it's existence, so the unit technically originated from the Kingdom of Hungary. This is why I think giving the best hussars to the Hungarians (instead of Slavs) is more fitting and it's something the AoE2 got right. What AoE2 didn't get right is that early Hussars didn't wear wings, neither were they light cavalry.

Magyars should have best aerly game hussars and Slavs (Poles) should have best late game hussars.

@@jimtim1144 The only advantage of the Tatar Hussars over generic Hussar is against the Imperial Skirmishers (or Aztec Elite Skirms). A FU Imp Skirm has 8 attack (9 for Aztec Imp Skirms) and Tatar Hussar has 7 pierce armor instead of a generic FU Hussar's 6. Meaning Imp Skirms/Aztec Elite Skirms only does 1 damage to Tatar (And Aztec Imp Skirm does 2) instead of 2 (3 for Aztec).

I have to disagree. The cumans bonus is too easily to know it is coming and to counter. If on same elo. But if you are 900elo you can easily abuse Lithuanian Hussars which are great. They are like every civ. They are a best at something and average or little under average.

You should play it its fun. I enjoy playing it offline vs moderate AI great game I personally think. People complain all the time about the online but I never play it that way so I would not know or care about that. Its got alot of civs like 30 or so and a very large campaign.

Yep its an imperial age tech. It's also really expensive and rather weak considering that the civ is missing blast furnace and both the hussar and paladin upgrades.

@@12171010011010 - "Weak"? Farimba effectively replaces 2 and 1/2 techs (Paladin, Hussar, 1/2 of blast furnace), making it extremely cost effective for what it does. The entire Malian set of cavalry is very effective lategame because of that one tech, and easy to transition back and forth between them.

They are missing Paladins, Hussars and Blast furnace. And they end up saving costs at a point in the game when those costs are more affordable. The cost effective window post imp where you can mass units but not afford their techs is *extremely narrow* And once the enemy upgrades their units they are strictly superior. - Light cav end up with 3 more attack, but have a lower attack speed and 15 lower hp than Hussars, so in the end they are *worse* - Cavaliers get 1 more attack than Paladins, but lose 40 hp and 1 pierce armor. Again, they are *much worse* especially so since the benefit of paladins is their bulk. - Heavy camel's benefit the most, but they are much more situational than the other two cav units due to their complete lack of armor. And in the situations they are used in they are given an extra 9 attack damage anyway. So +3 is relatively low in practice. On top of everything else, the Malian civ is special in that it is at its strongest in *castle age* You don't want to go into imperial unless the fight is dragging on too long. And if you do, you have a cheap and fast tech that can boost your army's damage by a little bit. That's its purpose. You saying that the malian cavalry excel in the lategame is *complete BS*
