I was shocked how beautiful the finished pipe turned out. I expected it to be very nice, like all Japanese art, but it exceeded my expectations. Thanks for sharing your skills!

It becomes a habit to see traditional techniques and processing techniques that require patience. For some reason I feel calm and able to concentrate.

What is a good material a person could use as an affordable substitute for silver? I’m trying to do knife forging but the work needed is to much for my disabled state. I’ve thought about copper or maybe aluminum but I just don’t know.

Yes, silver forms larger crystals when it cools slowly, where steel forms a smaller crystal structure. Bigger crystal formation makes the metal harder to bend and shape.

@@nouvadevor9518 so cooling it fast by quenching makes the crystals smaller and easier to work with ? Is that water you quench in ?

@user-fs4sr4nr4n And how much better can you do? Your comment sounds like sour grapes to me! When you can live up to the mastery exhibited here, then you can post such ludicrous, self-serving comments. JEEZ!!!

@ogaso46 This is not about mass-produced crafts but focuses on handcrafted processes. Why is that so difficult to comprehend? The artisans’ painstakingly and meticulous work is very impressive and should be recognized for their exceptional skill and workmanship.
