I will say on any car upgrading the intercooler charge pipes makes such a huge difference. Glad you mentioned that because sometimes it’s overlooked when people are doing some basic bolt ons and stuff. Great point and great first mod to do!

Absolutely agreed man! Any turbo car benefits greatly off this. Better throttle response and more turbo noises you really can’t beat it ! Haha

Excellent video, subbed! If you kept the stock exhaust manifold & only modded the exhaust from behind the last O2 sensor, and included all the intake mods would it require any tuning? I want to get a Mini & make it my own but I dont want to go balls to the wall as it will be a daily.

I know you didnt want to mention tunes because of how many options you can choose. Is there one you see to be better than the rest? I want to modify and tune my 11’ Clubman S but not sure who to go with lol. You have convinced me though to start buying performance parts

So personally from what I’ve seen heard and experienced, I feel RPM is the best tune you can go with.. you can contact Mario palza on Facebook he’s like the main guy for it ! Or mqubed_motorsport on Instagram. He can set you up with an rpm tune does everything from a tune with a stock car to tuning minis with a bunch of work done big turbos etc. great service and knows so much on these cars. Personally I’m tuned by manic but if I’m not mistaken they don’t exist anymore and I will be switching tuners soon. Again just my opinion I’m sure others might recommend another person or tuning company etc haha and yes buy some parts! These cars are a tune of fun

Yes I did ! I just bought regular led bulbs from amazon lol 6k bulbs and they work super well and the color matches the halos on the headlights perfectly !

Good video, but the hot side tube doesn't restrict airflow as claimed.... I don't know why people are obsessed with replacing it, but it's literally a straight pipe through with some holes/chambers to reduce noise. I did replace mine, but afterwards questioned why. You could probably save money on replacing those items for a tune or NM power module. What about waste gate spacer? I love mine and for $20 it's probably the best $$$ i've spent on my Mini.

Really enjoy your videos. May I ask where you got the front lower grill "scoops" to the left and right of the larger intercooler? I am getting a similar intercooler installed and like how your install looks. Thx.

Thank you! So those are just the brake ducts from the stock lower grille. I cut out the middle mesh and left only the ducts. Sanded away the excess plastic that was sticking out and rounded it off then sprayed them in black

Diego in the beginning all models of mini cooper in the lastest years as ik from 2018 present are turbocharged. The non S harchback 3 dr is a 1.5 L turbo where as the S is a 2 L turbo just a fun fact

I see In your mid list you have a forge BOV. I’ve purchased the forge diverter valve (fm207a) that comes with the solenoid for plug and play, but still have a computer issue. Did yours ever throw a code?

So it really depends on your goals..personally I don’t recommend the accessport for any tuning on a mini especially since they were short lived. I feel RPM provides the best tuning solution for our platform if you’re trying to go all out but it can be pricey. If you want a little more up you could buy the jb+ which adds about 20hp and probably 20-30tq but is a much cheaper alternative

Soooo tbh I’ve never dynoed it I’m assuming the car is somewhere around like 260hp and like 280-300ish torque (crank numbers) to the wheels id say like 220wheel and like 250ish torque lol I’m not sure tbh and have you dont all maintenance ? And how many miles on your S?

I've only got the cold side intercooler pipe right now, is there any issue with only installing it or should they be installed as a pair?

You’re fine with no issues with only the cold side ! I do recommend however doing the hot side too.. the stock intercooler piping on the hot side has a decent sized turbo muffler in it that restricts a bit of airflow and turbo noise. If you go with a. Straight through piece you’ll notice some good throttle response and good turbo noises ! You can even buy a turbo muffler delete for the r56 which is much cheaper like $40ish and will do the same job for you

If you’re going r56 then I would go 2011-2013 which is the n18 engine and many of the flaws from the n14 engine from 07-10 were solved such as timing chain issues PCV issues etc

Base 2013 I love my many people hate them I actually have taught myself how to do a few things on this car simply bc I love it too ! I don’t trust other people like AutoZone could not even install a battery correctly! I take great care of my car it is getting old I probably don’t drive over 2000 miles a year.. or should I get rid of it yeah really hate the thought of that but what do you suggest? R56 (2008 Mini S Hardtop) MODS to-date include: Manual Trans - Ringer Racing Clutch Stage 3 and Flywheel Milltek Performance downpipe High Flow Cat - vibrant j spacer with their smallest size jetting Wagner intercooler Borla Sport Exhaust K&N Cold Air Intake ecu tune SPS Performance - ( Stock, 18, 20 and 21.4 psi) ( stages set by plug in controller stored in glove box) Brisk Spark plugs gapped at .025 ( May change to .022-.024) Snow Performance Water Meth injection BC Racing coil overs Torques solutions engine mount Zimmerman drilled rotors (front) Haven't thought of cold and hot side mod . Thanks. Big issue is all the tweaks and stiffer mounts/suspension have left the interior with a dozen rattles. Dash, head liner, pillars etc. Love the exhaust and handling but they take away from the fun I am the the Wash DC Annapolis MD area.... Know of any good shops that are good w Minis near me that might help?

The n18 actually pops and bangs from factory when in sport mode sooo getting a me exhaust just makes them louder haha now when you tune it yes you can add more pops and bangs or remove them as well.. I find them fun so😬

ive never seen flames in a stock mini :D normally thats only with tune. i gone 200 cell in n14 and it really makes the car. alot more pops and bangs and turbo noises are just insane.. i went from a vaccum cleaner to a fucking dinosaur ahahah

Many people use the eBay ones with no issues ... I would go for one and not worry .. there was a forum on northamericanmotoring where someone had done side by side testing on his car using a Wagner intercooler and a off brand no name one.. he pressure tested it and ran it in the car as well.. it had the same airflow and same intake temps.. have peace of mind and save yourself some $$$

Keep getting put off by people saying intakes such as the cts one in this video reduce power due to hot air from the engine bay feeding the turbo. What's your view on this? Does the intercooler offset this?

Look I’ll tell you this ... yeah there’s always gonna be hot air in the engine bay obviously regardless of your intake setup aftermarket or stock... luckily for us the turbo is in the front of the engine and the intake sits toward the back right in lane with the hood scoop which if you pop out the honey comb plastic piece of the hood scoop will allow a direct route for air to reach the intake in the back.. or if heat is your concern I recommend maybe spending a bit more and buying the aem intake that comes with everything to ensure you’ll get colder air into your engine.. the intercooler could offset being it has a bigger core so it allows for more airflow, Lower intake temps and won’t allow the car to get as heat soaked when driving doing pulls etc. as the stock one would

Another thing as well, all higher horsepower builds and getting cars tuned etc usually require an aftermarket intake due to the fact they flow more air into the engine .. if you’re staying fully stock I agree maybe the stock intake is better for you but if you plan on doing full bolt ons, maybe even upgrading your turbo and stuff then you’re gonna have to get a better flowing intake for your setup

I’ll guarantee you this ... you’ll get really cool turbo noises and improved throttle response which as a placebo effect will make you feel the car is faster regardless of what it could show on paper ! Lol

this car stock suspension dont have camber or caster ajustement they only have front toe ajustement so if your gonna put 300bhp in it you bettter put some money on the suspension that right

Minis benefit the most (from a cornering standpoint) from stiffer swaybars.

I was kind of surprised that he only mentioned a Sway bar upgrade in passing, IMHO it should be one of the first upgrades you should do to your MINI, I had a Alta 22mm rear Sway bar installed on my 2012 MCS which made it a new car

They’ve never rubbed! The offset of the wheels and tire size with just enough front negative camber let’s these fit easily

Im thinking about a 1,4 diesel from 2005.... As a first car... Its a one, not even a Cooper... I wanted an s jwc fully spec. but i can't afford it...

Best mods imo for a base model would be good suspension upgrades and a nice wheel and tire setup for the ultimate handling car possible

I don’t disagree at the same time though supporting mods for a turbo are one of the best things you can do to any car depending the direction you want to go in
