I believe that Amok Draumr is the best hammock design on the market. It's a very good option for those who think about exchanging the camping tent for a hammock.

Agreed. Same flat lay as a tent without the restriction of needing a flat ground with no rock sticks or flooding. The cross hammock is lighter though, I think.

I own the Amok setup, super comfy by damn heavy, the new UL version looks awesome although weaker. But they've bumped the prices up quite a lot now and considering I do a lot of high camping when trees are sparse, doesn't make sense to throw big cash at it...

I have seen these hammocks before. The Amok Draumr in my opinion is the best of the best, in that is is quite a bit more versatile. I believe they have a Amok designed tarp that allows for full coverage of the set up.

What did you come up with? I wanna do world touring and finding a hammock is easy, but one that also works in a desert is not that easy to find imho. The haven could work best from all I’ve seen.

Went camping in the fall with a hammock and a +10 sleeping bag- big mistake- because of no ground the cold air passed right through. Froze most of the time.

All of the hammocks you showed there are better ones out there. One exception might be the one with the triple lines to hang it that looks like a trampoline. Not saying my jungle hammock is the best just that I like it above all the rest. I can lay in a line ( Banana ) or at an angle and flat if i want to. It packs small and is bug proof. Has a double bottom so mosquitos can not bite threw the material and netting over the top. I can use it as a solo tent if necessary but then that wrecks the idea of having a hammock. As far as small hammocks , there are ones on the market in the softball size ( when packed ) and weight 6 or 7 ounces. They are from cottage industries and I have not seen all ( 100 % ) of them on Amazon.

6:01 everyone keeps replaying that. So why even go outside if that is what you are looking for. Like you really want to be in a tiny space in that curved position which causes back pain with time, if you ever sleep a night in a hammock you will know what I mean and will never do it again.

haven is the best in my opinion. Best thing it keeps you away from the animals like the large cats , bears and snakes. I would buy this over ANY tent. Period. This company NEEDS to upgrade this tent by putting in pads inside for winter camping so you stay warm.

Facebook has adds for the first one on this list and I ordered one because I really thought it was a great looking hammock but when it arrived it was a cheap basic hammock with none of the features listed in the add so if you see a Facebook add do not buy it I was lucky enough to have PayPal refund the $66 that I paid for

Reasons why Hammocks are not popular! 1 Safety issues. You are dangling and anything can go wrong from insects greeting trapped into and animal bites to attacks. Not to mention getting out fast is not possible in emergency situation, like a fly out of spider web. 2 Not Comfortable. Your spine and legs will be in unnatural position and can't sleep on sides. 3 Ground support. You can't place your gears, clothes and tools next to you. Plus no matter how good it's weather proof, cold will get thru unlike ground where your body temperature heats up surface area. Still think it's worth it then go ahead try once then you revert back to tents. ☝️😎

considering people in Nayarit and other areas from the Yucatan peninsula flat out use hammocks instead of beds.... I'd rather just get their input on the defining features for comfortable sleep in a hammock.
